BIGGER THAN SPORTS SC BTSSC
BTSSC is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization developed to serve others through the platform that God has provided us with.
We are here to serve others through the platform that God has provided us with. Our purpose is to equip student athletes with a mindset to assist with finding their passion & purpose, beyond athletics. Our five principles of: connect, learn, teach, serve & love will guide our day-to-day decisions and approach to changing the lives of the student athletes we work with.
When I stopped playing, committed my life to Jesus, and received the Holy Spirit in 2017, I’ve been in Scripture daily, striving to do God’s will. I’ve messed up a lot, but Scripture has taught me to confess the sin, forsake it, and repent. I have been in the word of God every day for over 2500 days. I don’t share this to show you a number but to show you that it is real. As a student-athlete, I learned and applied discipline and consistency, which took me far in playing sports, but I was still out of the will of God because I wasn't thinking, speaking, and doing His word. As a believer, follower, servant, and disciple of Jesus Christ, Spiritual discipline and consistency in the word of God keeps me moving forward. When things are going your way, stay in the word of God. When things are not going your way, stay in the word of God. God gives us wisdom, knowledge, and understanding from His mouth, which comes through His written and revealed word. Speaking, thinking, and doing the word isn’t optional if we want to be in the will of God.
Pastor Cochran said this today: When God says that you can have it, get it all, and don't leave anything on the table.

Unfaithfulness is also trespass (H4604), which means treacherous act. It simply means going against the Most High God. Let me make this plain. I genuinely believe that all these problems we see in the world are because people are going against the Most High God. If we go against God, what are we caught in? Our lust. Remember, there are 3 things in the world: lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and pride of life.

Daniel 3:21, 3:27-28, 6:16, 6:23 and Matthew 10:28
Shadrach, Meshach, Abed-Nego, and Daniel stood solid on God’s word and feared Him before, during, and after they were cast into something that the people just “knew” would destroy them. Let me make this plain. Stand solid on God’s word now, during, and after the trial. Endure to the end. Fear the Lord, not man.

When we have the Holy Spirit in us, we will be given gifts as He “wills.” We aren't in control of the gifts we receive, but we are responsible for using these gifts to serve God and serve the needs of people.
“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”

When God humbles us, we have no control over how He humbles us, and we have to come face-to-face with who we really are. After this, we either choose to submit to God and resist the devil, or we will be found going against God. God is no respecter of persons. It doesn't matter who you are; you either choose to live for God or be found living against His will. I've experienced how God humbled me. Daily, I commit to being a believer, follower, servant, and disciple of Jesus Christ. I never want to be found living outside of God’s will for my life.
When we serve God in the name of Jesus Christ, we will be persecuted, but we will be promoted. This has nothing to do with a resume. This has everything to do with serving God regardless of the situation. Don't take a bride. Don't let your faith fail in the trial. Confess your sins, forsake them, repent, put your faith in Jesus Christ, and receive the Holy Spirit.

When we say that we are believers, followers, servants, and disciples of Jesus Christ, we must ask ourselves this one question, “When was the transformation in my life when I knew that I had the Holy Spirit working in me?”
When we confess our sins, we acknowledge them and take ownership of our wrongdoings. When we forsake our sins, we stop doing it. By confessing and forsaking our sins, we will have mercy (see Proverbs 28:13). When we are sorrowful in a godly manner, this produces repentance. When we repent, we turn back from sin. A prideful heart won't allow us to go to Jesus Christ. We go to Him in humility. Thinking that we can keep willfully sinning, live pridefully, and be in Christ is not correct. It is not right to willfully sin after we have received the knowledge of the truth (see Hebrews 10:26). If we are willfully sinning and think we are in Christ, we are saying that we can live pleasing the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. It doesn't work this way. When we truly receive Jesus Christ, we are a new creation, and we will learn how to deny this flesh and its desires with the power of the Holy Spirit working in us.

This is in my heart this morning. As believers, followers, servants, and disciples of Jesus Christ, we must remember where we came from and be honest about it. When we were willfully sinning, we knew it was wrong, but the thing is, the lust of our eyes, the lust of our flesh, and the pride of life were more important to us than fearing the Lord and denying this flesh. When we live like this, we will all hit a point when we know God isn't playing with us, and either we commit our lives to Jesus or God cuts us off. He gives us free will so we aren't forced to do anything. This is why you don't have to force anyone to put their faith in Jesus Christ; when God draws (pulls) us, He makes it known who He is. When we look at ourselves as someone who has rebelled against God and sorrow in a godly manner, this leads us to repentance.
