Deeply Driven Outdoors
Deeply Driven Outdoors is a hunting, fishing and outdoors YouTube channel. I am deeply driven outdoo I am, by no means, an expert or "the best" at what I do.
Deeply Driven Outdoors is a testament to the blue collar sportsman, with a primary focus on waterfowl and catfishing but also featuring many other kinds of fishing, hunting, camping and Iowa outdoor life. I just love to do it and want to bring that to you. I believe in a respect for the animals I harvest - hunting and fishing is more than just walking away with meat but it's also about understandi
Brand new duck hunting video out now! I had been trying to get 1 more duck on the season to tie my personal best duck season. I had strong northerly winds and a cold snap come through so I had high hopes but things...just don't always pan out. Check it out now!

My Midseason Waterfowl Hunting Update by Deeply Driven Outdoors Podcast I finally get the chance to sit down and update everyone on how my waterfowl season has gone so far. Find me on YouTube to watch my hunts: www.youtube.com/d...
Took the Ascend H12 out for a hunt in the snow today. The greenwing action was fast and furious early. Made it back to the house in time for fireplace, football and a late breakfast. Good times
I finally got a chance to hunt the Mississippi River today! The hunting wasn't lights out but we did drop a few ducks and geese and the backdrop and atmosphere of this hunt was way cool.
I went to my favorite creek recently and had a mixed bag day of duck hunting, including my first wood duck of the season!
Mixed Bag Duck Hunt In My Ascend H12 || Kayak Duck Hunting I took my Ascend H12 kayak down the creek again on another duck hunt and got a mixed bag of birds! When the birds didn't seem to want to fly, I took a long p...

I didn't think it would be November 7 before I shot my first woodie of the year but here we are.
Today was a good day. Unlike my past couple limits, this one took me til 10 o clock but the birds that saw my spread on this small creek decoyed readily.
New video alert! I took my Ascend H12 down a small creek to do some duck hunting and it sorta panned out! Check it!

Morning 1 in the mountains! We're having a blast. Looking for muleys.
Trevor Randles from Trevor Randles Outdoors Iowa invited me out to try some goose hunting on the river from our kayaks. It had been awhile since I got into any geese and I had never, in 14 years of waterfowling, hunted the river itself so I figured it'd be something different to try and it was a great time! Check out the full video of the geefs below!

How was everyone else's openers? Calvin and I froze overnight, fought thick mud and had to resort to our plan b but still managed 9 birds this morning on a fun hunt.
Who's wanting another diddy pole video? Mat and I had a nice run a few weeks back and boated not only the biggest flatheads of the year but also one of the biggest we had boated in years! Check out the action! - https://youtu.be/Jf91hjhFvF8?si=9Y9CKPTnzYhjE3AI
I got my first waterfowl video of 2023 up now on my channel! I gotta say, I'm proud of the improvements in video quality I have made over the last couple duck seasons.
This teal hunt was fun. I took a buddy out and helped him get his first duck, tried out some new gear and we made a tasty teal breakfast at the end. Catch the action at the link below:
On The Board || Iowa Teal Season 2023! I finally make it out for the last day of Iowa's teal season and take my buddy Chris with me. Chris gets his first duck ever, I get my first duck of the seas...
I don't look like a genius in the picture but it was a monster flathead; they'll do that to you at times. Mat and I had a pretty successful diddy pole run last week and I finally got out for teal season on Saturday. I figured I had better do a podcast episode to break it all down. Check it out at the link in comments!
Just finished up my first waterfowl video of the year! Compared to years past, I feel like my waterfowl video quality has gone up fairly dramatically, due in large part to having a Shotkam, using my phone as a main cam and positioning my GoPro video. The full video will be up on YouTube on Wednesday but if you want to see it RIGHT NOW (and get a bunch of other exclusive and early content), you can go see it by signing up at my Patreon! (Link in comments)
Finally made it out for teal season. I don't take teal season too seriously but do enjoy it. We got most everything that came into the decoys, I got to try out some new gear, Chris got his first duck and I got on the board!
We don't hit the September flathead bite as often as we should but when we do, it's fire.
Teal, dove and squirrel seasons open this weekend! Who else is excited to kickoff hunting season? Check out last season's waterfowl playlist!

Andy came over to give me a hand assembling my bait tank yesterday! Ever since moving to the country a few years ago, I had been meaning to get a bait tank going but never got around to it. This will help my catfishing game quite a bit!
One of my top bucket list things to do is hunt in Alaska - not only is the price tag to do that imtimidating but the logistics are as well. In an upcoming DDO podcast episode, I am going to have the guys from The Northern Hunter Podcast to discuss the hunting logistics for Alaska for the average nonresident hunter. What questions have you guys had about hunting Alaska that I should ask them?
I saved the best turkey video for last. This past spring, I took my young buddy, Gideon out turkey hunting. He put a lot of work in to get his bird but it finally paid off. It's easily the most exciting turkey video I've ever done. It won't be posted on public YouTube until next spring BUT if you want to see it now, it is live on my Patreon! My Patreon's a mere 5 bucks/month and I have several other videos on there that aren't on YouTube as well as photos that aren't on my other socials. If you wanna help me along in my outdoors creative endeavor and get some sweet content in the process, head to Patreon.com/DeeplyDrivenOutdoors!

Strongly disagree with this one. Not only does teaching hunter ed and archery open the door for better self-reliance and confidence for kids but gives them worthwhile activities to do AND teaches them firearm safety, which, if it were up to me, would be offered in all high schools.
I'm concerned about the future of hunting as it is, when it comes to bringing younger folks into the fold and this is going to make that even harder. Not only do I think that hunting enriches the lives of those who pursue it but it also is critical to our conservation model to preserve the natural wonders our country offers.
DOE to decrease funding to schools with hunting and archery programs Opponents say misinterpretation of Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to blame
We have plenty of time, boat gas, food, drink and new stretches of river to explore. We've boated more fish on rod and reel than diddy today. Good times with a good buddy
I haven't contacted any fish *yet* but the scenery sure is hard to beat. I've been on several trips out west and always wanted to fish but it never panned out. If I'm being honest, it's been a bit intimidating but I'm warming up to it.
That'd be my first time catching a sheep o' the deep on a diddy pole.
I lost what may have been my biggest fish today. A rookie mistake, a tackle failure and some bad luck combined to lead me to losing this fish. I felt sick for a couple hours afterwards. Here's the video of the whole ordeal.
Today, I lost what MAY have been my biggest fish ever. A combination of the fish straightening out an 8/0 hook, a rookie move and some plain bad luck led to losing a giant. Standby for video....
The Mississippi River Rat Rendezvous video is LIVE now! We headed down to the Mississippi River in search of a blue cat to catch on diddy pole and have a great time and we did both of those things. We also had a ton of laughs in the process!
Check out the full video: https://youtu.be/g6Fh8qfcHrc
Tomorrow at 5:30 pm, my first diddy pole video of the year drops on my YouTube channel! It's my longest video to date and was a cool, unique experience with lots of laughs. I hope you'll tune in!
I sure do love The Driftless Area. It never disappoints.
Boom! We boated our first ever blue! I've always wanted to catch one on diddy pole and it did not disappoint. He wore the pole out like a channel and took it down like a flatty. Even with slow fishing, we got what we came for and then some
