This round our theme is the Pink Dolphin. This myth originates in the Amazon. Some stories describe the pink dolphin as being a shape shifter who, at night, morphs into a tall, handsome and elegantly dressed man, who comes ashore to seduce the women of the Amazonian villages. The myth has been used as a cover story for unwanted or scandalous pregnancies in isolated parts of the Amazon. Another story surrounding the pink dolphin warns children about swimming in the rover alone. Some say the dolphin will kidnap lone swimmers and take them to an underwater city from which they can never return.

Attention LASA! We have some exciting news to share with you all. Our beach volleyball team has had an amazing season and has come in 4th place overall in the UQ Interfaculty Competitions (UQIC). We couldn't be more proud of our players for their hard work, dedication, and team spirit that has led to this success.

Throughout the season, our team showed incredible skill and determination on the court. They worked tirelessly during our Sunday Beach Volleyball Practice. They always gave their best effort, and it truly paid off in the end.

Congratulations once again to our volleyball team for their incredible achievement this season. Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and we are honoured to have you represent our club. Keep up the great work, and we look forward to seeing what you will accomplish next semester. Go team!

The University of Queensland coordinates an internship program with a number of international embassies in Canberra over the Winter break. This internship represents a fantastic opportunity if you have an interest in experiencing an international culture and society, diplomacy, international relations and business. The objective of the internship program is to strengthen relations between The University of Queensland and the Embassy and offer meaningful networking and work experience opportunities for students to gain exposure to the working environment of an Embassy.

Participating Embassies may include Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. No longer do the embassies require a high level of Spanish language skills but it would certainly be advantagious for the working professional environment.
