A lot of Christians would do well to remember the the story of the woman caught in adultery in John 8. When you read it, it's an incredible story of Jesus' love, His forgiveness, and His grace.

We have these same choices every day: Will I throw rocks and condemn them or will I show compassion like Jesus did?

Romans 2:4 says, "'Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?'"

John 8:1-11 (NLT): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+8%3A1-11&version=NLT

New blog post:

Many Christians have a misunderstanding of the power of prayer. A lot of people view prayer as the last resort or as a passive way of responding to the evils of this world. In the verse above, it says the power of a righteous person has great power. 2 Corinthians 10:4 tells us, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." Prayer is one of those spiritual weapons that helps us demolish strongholds.

I think one of the biggest challenges we face as Christians in today's world is one of pride. Sure, Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that it's by grace we have been saved, that it's a gift of God, that no one should boast, but we have to have SOME responsibility right? Or when Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it's impossible to please God, we think, "But if He's pleased with faith, then He'll be impressed by what I'm doing." Or when Romans 5:1 says having been justified by faith we have peace with God, that it doesn't really mean that. That it means we have to do something to be justified. It all comes down to grace versus works and if you're saved by grace or works. Listen: You are 100% saved by God's grace, by what Jesus did on the cross. He came and lived the life you couldn't live and sacrified Himself so that we could be righteous through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Corinthians 5:21). Because of what Christ did, we work from that righteousness, not to achieve that righteousness.

So instead of using prayer as our primary weapon, we try to pray a little prayer and then we go out in our own strength to fight battles in the world.

I know paying for a Christian education is a sacrifice, but the stakes are high. Proverbs 22:6 tells us to raise up our children in the way they should go, and that has to be more than an hour or two a week in church paired with a secular education.

This hit me hard today. This is from the book "The Life of Radical Faith" by Jeff Keaton.

“We’re so good in the church at hiding behind our four walls and demonizing all those bad people out there. It’s easy to dislike someone you don’t know. But when God says, “Go and love them,” everything changes."

Are you hiding in your bubble just complaining about the world outside or are you going beyond your safe zone and loving people like Jesus wants you to? We have opportunities every single day to show Jesus in our lives. What Jesus are they seeing?

Jesus, Our Righteousness 24/04/2024

New blog: Jesus, Our Righteousness:

As the Scriptures say,
“No one is righteous--
not even one.
- Romans 3:10 (NLT)

2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

This is what Jesus did for us. Colossians 2:14 says He wiped out the handwriting of requirements against us. It’s talking about the Law. Galatians tells us the Law was our tutor to bring us to Christ – it pointed us to the cross.

New blog post:
In This World to Transform It, Not Conform To It:

2 Corinthians 5:17 says that when we come to Christ, we are a new creation. Old things have passed away and all things become new. Now, what we’re reading in Romans 12, Paul says, “Give your bodies to God because of what He has done for us. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice. This is how we truly worship Him.” What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? Part of it is being ready to do whatever God asks of you.

Blog post: Order of Operations

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” - Matthew 6:33
In Matthew 6, Jesus is talking about the needs that we have in life and our worry about how we will get the things that we need. He says in 6:25, “Do not worry about your life, what you will or what you will drink, or your body, what you will put on.” In verse 26, Jesus reminds us of the birds of the air and the flowers of the field and how God provides for each of them and asks the question, “Are you not of more value than them?” Verse 27, He asks, “Who by worrying can add a cubit to their stature?” Our natural reaction is to worry. But Jesus has outlined a few things through these passages....

Part of a Whole 11/04/2024

Blog post: Part of a Whole:

"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” - John 15:5-6

For a lot of people, going to work is you do your job, you come home, and it becomes monotonous. For teachers, it’s not like that. You bring work home with you and burnout is a very real thing. It’s easy to get burned out when you work with children because it is so demanding and so challenging. That’s why these words of Jesus are so necessary.

Radical Obedience - Teach Christian 08/04/2024

Radical Obedience 4/8/24: We all want God’s blessing in our life and we often ask God for material things, but what about what God wants from us? We always ask the question, “What is God’s will for my life?” And I’ve always thought the answer was a simple one: Philippians 2:13: “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” God wants to use us for His purpose. How do we get to the place where God can use us?

Christian education is so important! Look at this breakdown: Where will they get their worldview from?

Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

Teachers Teaching Teens in the Classroom

Teaching teenagers can sometimes be challenging due to a lack of motivation or a tendency to question authority. However, with the right approach and some simple tricks, teachers can engage and inspire teen learners to create a productive and positive classroom environment.

Four Ways to Get Better at Teaching Teens:

1. Provide rules and routines, but be flexible.
2. Involve your teen learners in decision-making.
3. Set the right tone in your classroom.
4. Bring your students’ interests into the classroom.

Absolutely true. This is why Christian education is so important. Proverbs 22:6 tells us to do this! "Train up a child in the way they should go."

Don't leave a child to themselves. Train them up in Jesus, equip them with the weapons they need (spiritually) before they're in that battlefield of life.
