Kristina Podlasek helping Children in Sandy Bay, Roatan Honduras
Sandy Bay Lighthouse Ministries is a non-denominational, Christian ministry to the less fortunate residents of the Island of Roatan, Honduras.
My name is Kristina Podlasek I'm 10 years old. The summer of 2015 I went to Roatan an Island off of Honduras vacationing with my family. I decided to visit an orphanage there, because the Island was very poor. So we visited the Sand Bay Lighthouse Ministries on the Island. When we arrived there the children looked like their having fun. I took a tour and the first thing I saw, was that the childre
n had no air-condition. It was already really hot and I couldn’t believe that they lived like that. Even if the children seem happy I noticed that they missed a lot of things what is normal for us children in the USA. It made be sad to see that I have so much and they have so little. I think it is already sad enough not to have parents by your side. So I decided to help by raising money for the orphanage. I got in contact with the board who is location in the USA to get information on what is needed. Talking to the board of the Sandy Bay Lighthouse, Ministers it cost about $ 4,000.- a year for each child to have food, cloth and education. My coal is support two children per year what would be about $ 8,000.-. If I can raise this money each year the orphanage would have enough money to give the children air-condition in their rooms. The Sandy Bay Orphanage has a total of 18 children and I think that if we all give a little it will be a lot for them.
