Fun Fact: Sled Dog Systems was eventually bought by friends Dan and Kim, who live here in Willow. They make some of the best sleds in the sport and have been used for years in all of the top races. We even have three of our own.

We will dig deep into our archives weekly and pull out an ad or other nugget to share. It will be fun to see how the world of mushing ads has changed from the 1960s to today.

Deborah Molburg Bicknell shares her history and experiences in dog mushing, starting from her first dog team in 1957. She talks about her family’s involvement in the sport, including her parents’ production of the Team and Trail newsletter. Deborah discusses her favorite races, including the Laconia World Championship and the Canadian Championship in Nepean, where she became the first woman to win.
