Effective immediately I will no longer be doing anymore solo projects(maybe a gig here or there)

After lots of soul searching tonight I can’t keep going like this. It drains the fun and destroys my personal life.

Jed and the Livid Dead will be my only musical focus, with the exception of songwriting but I will definitely pitch more songs to the Livid Dead than I would’ve before. Anyways for more detail as to why just find my instagram post. It’s got a picture of young me standing in front of a camp trailer.

I’m not quitting just changing how I do things😉

Day 49 21/08/2023

I know a lot of people enjoy my song Truck Stop but I’d bet none of y’all know it’s got a few extra lines in the first verse because I felt it made the verse to long and repetitive.

Well here’s a version played the way I originally wrote it. Been so long since I sang the extra lines it took a second to remember them

Day 49 Hope y’all enjoy This month we’re revisiting truck stop

So with all the enthusiasm I had in my last post there has emerged some new challenges in my life… mostly a pesky intake manifold that needs replacing. With that said I’m scrounging everything I can to make sure River comes out as scheduled. Not all the bills for that song are paid as of yet but it will happen. That being said I can’t put out a teaser for it just yet due to some of the complications that I learned from my album. Everything has to be finalized before I can do much with the song at this point.

I actually planned on putting out the teaser tomorrow and even had a post ready to post this evening about it but out of true transparency with all of you there’s no way any teaser is coming tomorrow… although a small live stream may happen in its place😉 perhaps if I can actually figure out how to play the song with one guitar I might even play it for y’all in it’s entirety

06/08/2023

So a few days from now my song “River” comes out. I’m very excited even though there will be no vocals… or will it? Well we’ll just have to wait and see.

It’s going to be one of the few sappy love songs I put out for a long while mainly because I think this song and its contents can’t be outdone. The contrast I use between my favorite river and some other feelings and people is perfect in my little world. Mostly because the song is about imperfections that I love. It’s great… anyways I’ll be posting a little teaser soon

05/08/2023

So I’m a Utah boy born and raised and one of favorite venues has always been the USANA Amphitheatre. Now tonight Luke Bryan was supposed to play but due to some health issues had to postpone his show.

Now as anybody who knows me understands I detest his music but for this particular post I will remain quiet about how I feel about his music.

Something I have noticed in the recent years is the amount of cancellations and postponements and to me that is hard for the people who not only paid for their tickets but also the people who are scheduled to work at the venues.

My proposal would be to venues who have to postpone to perhaps allow small local bands to be able to perform on the night. Like I understand the logistics would make things incredibly difficult to be able to do that but I’m also a performer who has played through being sick and put more strain on my own voice than any doctor would recommend. It’s not about how the show will be or how the sound will be but it should be about the people who paid their hard earned money to come see you. They deserve every ounce of energy you can provide them and being sick sure does change how your performance will be but at the same time it’s not about you or anyone in the band. Either you go on stage or have your management find a replacement for that night and honor those tickets when you can make it to the show.

Anyways just a small opinion in a much larger/complicated world of music I felt I should share.

It’s doable and yet no mainstream artist feels the need to do it. They just always say sorry sucks to be you having to change your plans and make be able to to change them the next time we come around, I have the sniffles and won’t be able to sing my sh*tty ass songs to their full sh*tty potential.

Artist and their teams can do better because they’re not any better than anyone else

28/07/2023

Over the course of recording this song it went through numerous rewrites and eventually turned into an instrumental. I do have words for it but at the time I don’t want to release it with lyrics because much like a river they are ever changing and I actually would like to keep the song evolving as the inspirations and how I feel about them evolve.

That being said it has turned out to be one of my most favorite and hardest melodies I’ve ever put together due to the fact that it’s pretty different from my normal playing style. Not saying I’ve just created the hardest song to play… it’s probably super easy for any 8 year old learning guitar. It’s just not really my area of guitar playing so it’s tricky.

Anyways mark your calendars for August 25th for the release of “River” I can’t say when you’ll get to hear the words since it’s not really a song for Jed and the Livid Dead but I’m sure you’ll hear it sometime in the future.

Keith Whitley - I'm No Stranger to the Rain (Official Video) 11/05/2023

So yesterday marked yet another year since the passing of one of my most favorite artists. Keith Whitley has been such a huge influence and inspiration in my music. I probably wouldn’t sing the way I do if it wasn’t for the fact I used to try to copy his voice. Fun fact we were both born on July 1st.

A fun memory I have of playing a Keith Whitley song was from last year. Halfway through playing “when you say nothing at all” someone proposed to their girl friend. Such a magical moment.

If I could be granted 3 wishes my last wish would be for Keith to still be alive. If you look closely on my guitar strap for my telecaster you may notice a quote from this song.

I only hope to be half the singer he was.

Keep resting easy Keith.

I just read an article about Morgan Wallen Canceling a show after his openers performed. Idgaf how sick you are if you get to that point you should’ve cancelled sooner or just fought through your set. People do actually spend their own money to see you… maybe give them everything you’re not worth back to them. Otherwise step aside and let the rest of us struggling artists book the gigs that all the more ”successful artists” get

Joey Brandin Studio Album — Plaid Dog Recording 03/03/2023

Hey folks… this is one of the few guys that’s always booked me knowing I don’t have a fan base in Provo and has always accepted my country music. It would mean a great deal to me if you helped support his project. I’m all about supporting local country acts first but Joey is my exception. He’s an incredibly sensitive writer that one rarely gets to behold and frankly that not only needs but deserves attention from all listeners of good music.

I encourage you, if you have a few bucks to help him out.

Joey Brandin Studio Album — Plaid Dog Recording With your help, Joey Brandin is embarking on his first professionally-recorded album with a fantastic producer and studio in Boston, MA. Think I need to clarify…

10/12/2022

Been struggling on the weekends to settle my mind and go to sleep so I’m going to tell you the story behind my new song “if you’re lookin”.

Around 2019 or 18(can’t quite remember) I found myself being friends with a woman who kept me up late at night wishing she’d quit dating as**ats. My problem was I was so shy even with great friends(still am to be honest) I never could tell her how I really felt. She had just broke up with this as**at and I was tired of being a rebound so I never really got to see where our relationship could have gone and eventually we just left each others lives. I legit was losing sleep over something that never was. It was unhealthy… so one day I wrote for the first time a song that expressed how I was feeling about someone else and not myself, still clinging on to the idea she’d figure things out or maybe I’d muster up the courage to say something. Never happened but the song acted as a therapy because all of a sudden I quit worrying about it. It didn’t matter anymore and I never looked back on what never was.

I started recording the version that just came out in 2019. In fact the vocals and acoustic guitar were first takes that just sounded good enough. The bass was recorded about a year ago. Drums were also done in 2019 when I was recording my first album. And the two lead guitars were done 2 months ago because I originally had an acoustic guitar lead that sounded cool but just had so many mistakes and every time I tried re recording I couldn’t get the same tones I’d gotten from the first take.

Anyways I wanted to hold on to the song for my next big project(announcement coming soon) but have been going through the same kind of situation and dug up this song as comfort. It was the song I needed so I figured what the hell. Maybe someone else could use it… anyways moments pass and we either get through them or they get through with us. Ain’t no thang.

09/12/2022

Y’all gotta check this place out

07/12/2022

I can’t wait for the 17th!!! Probably the coolest lineup to ever be a part of🔥

04/12/2022

The writing never stops… today I was on a different level. I finished and recorded 5 demos have the lyrics for 3 different ideas. Something cool happened with the first idea I’ve given the working name would you love me anyway. It started out as just this group of nagging feelings I’ve had for a while and it became a really cool love song for whatever reason. It actually blew me away because it brought out a feeling of dread. I’ve never wrote a love song that scared me before so we’re in uncharted territory.

It is a song about being afraid of being rejected. I will say I do have fears of being rejected but it’s never got in the way or stopped me for doing anything I’ve ever wanted to do but using that topic in the situation I wrote it really got to me. Like it’s been hours and this one song still has me a little worked up. I really can’t describe all of this but felt inclined to share with y’all

Anyways I really wanted to get on here and express the love I’ve felt from you guys for my new songs. It’s the most feedback I’ve ever received and I truly appreciate everyone who has listened and told me what they thought. Good and bad I love it. Just thought I’d ramble on here for a while since I’m still trying to distract myself from this beast of a song😂

Thank you guys!!!
