Avoid these foods when you’re constipated ⬇️

❌ red meat
it’s tasty, but it takes forever for your body to break down. Try something like fish, eggs, or bone broth for protein.

❌ fried and greasy foods
another thing to slow digestion is high fat foods…especially when they’re not the best types of fats for the body

❌ breads and bagels
these are binders - think back to your drinking days or when you have the stomach bug. People always eat bread to “absorb the alcohol” or “absorb the diarrhea”. That’s not exactly how it works, but it does bind up your stool…which is not the best if you’re already constipated.

Instead, swap out those constipation-causing foods for some easy to digest alternatives such as:
✅ soups + stews
✅ cooking down all vegetables + food to mush
✅ white fish, slow cooked chicken, eggs

Remember, what you eat plays a huge role in how you feel.

STRESS is bad for your gut!! 😱 Whether it’s mental, physical, heat stress, or any other of the 5 SPEED pillars…it will influence your gut and hormone health.

If the body is constantly needing to recover - but never actually has time to live healthy - it can lead to some serious stuff down the line, like heart issues, trouble fighting off colds, and even packing on extra pounds.

{About My Credentials & Schooling 🥰…} ➡️ Don’t get confused, yes my name is Dasha, but Facebook makes me put my full name (Dorothy) to be verified. I started this account in 2012 mainly posting about food and macros - I was a personal trainer at the time and started competing in bodybuilding shows.

I was going through horrible gut issues and no doctor could help or save me. That’s when I became obsessed with the research. I needed to save myself.

🥗 In 2019 I graduated from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition with my Masters in Nutritional Epidemiology (the study of how diet affects disease).

I then spent a year completing my dietetic internship 👩🏻‍⚕️ at the Veterans Hospital in Tampa FL.

And now, I’ve helped hundreds if not over a thousand people improve their gut health too 🫶🏻

In the middle of all this, I also launched a protein powder 💪company because my clients kept saying “Dasha whey bloats me and gives me gas what can I use instead”?…so I needed to create a solution.

Plant based formulas were incomplete, so I created a diligently researched a brand new amino acid blend 🧬, took it to my Alma mater at Tufts, and won their 100k pitch 🏆 competition for the idea.

This. This is why your gut health matters 👶🤰{No I’m not pregnant but so many of our CorePerform clients are, and yes I cry every time I hear the good news 🥹😭}

After working with clients on their gut health + hormones, we not only heal a life, but GIVE a life. Some of these women were told they could NEVER get pregnant.

How’d we do it?
It all starts in the gut…you are NOT what you eat, you ARE what you absorb.

➡️ If your body isn’t properly digesting and absorbing nutrients, it’s like your hormones are trying to run a marathon without any fuel.

This can lead to all sorts of hormonal imbalances since your hormones don’t have the resources they need to regulate your body’s processes.

Things like mood swings, irregular periods, or even fertility issues can start cropping up when your hormones aren’t getting enough nutrition. The body feels unsafe to give birth. It’s screaming “get your S** together girl!*

So, making sure your gut health is on point is the key to keeping your hormonal health in top shape.
Plus…. a happy gut means less inflammation and happy hormones!

Do you feel bloated, gassy, fatigued?

It could be small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).

It’s when excess bacteria builds up in the small intestines (center of your belly + lower pouch area).

*TLDR warning* ⛔️ How Much I Eat & Train 🫣🎉

For years I spent hiding in fear.

I was so worried about becoming an uglier version of myself that I forgot to think what would happen if I became more beautiful.

I was so consumed with all the things I did wrong or that I wasn’t enough.

It’s not like I’m perfect and think I’m amazing all day without a worry in my mind.

But now I practice celebrating all of the things that I am capable of and doing on a daily basis.

I am actively celebrating the cute, fierce, feminine that I am.

And she is beautiful 🤗

& I trained 3x last week, averaged 2760 kcals daily last week.

We teach our clients how to optimize their physique by improving gut & hormone health so they can lose bloat, improve energy, and feel amazing again.

But it starts with believing that and celebrating that good things can and will happen to you, too.

3 things about food I learned while becoming a Registered Dietitian ⬇️⬇️

1. Food matters, and it doesn’t.
At some point, food choice doesn’t matter - quality of life or calorie goals have a greater influence on health

2. Calories matter, and they don’t.
For most people, food choice and portion sizing will have greater influence on health

3. People are crazy, and so am I.

Top 3 things I heard while being a Dietitian 🤫😂

1. ‘Steak is a carb so I’ve been avoiding it’
2. ‘I’ve fed myself for 75 years so I know more about my nutrition needs than you do’
3. ‘I use greens powders’

GF, DF, Protein Carrot Cake Anyone?🥕 We buffed up Dietitian ‘s recipe to include some allergy friendly and options 😍⬇️

Dry ingredients ⁣⁣
1 cup GF flour⁣⁣⁣
1 scoop protein
1 tsp baking soda ⁣⁣⁣
1 tsp baking powder ⁣⁣⁣
2 1/2 tsp cinnamon ⁣⁣⁣
1/2 tsp ground ginger⁣ (optional)⁣
1/4 tsp salt ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Wet ingredients ⁣⁣
1/2 cup milk ⁣⁣⁣of choice
1/2 cup oil⁣⁣⁣ (can sub applesauce)
1/3 cup local maple syrup ⁣⁣⁣
1/3 cup coconut sugar ⁣⁣⁣
2 eggs, beaten ⁣⁣⁣(or flax eggs)
2 tsp vanilla extract ⁣⁣⁣
1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)⁣⁣
1 tsp molasses (optional)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1 1/2 cups carrots grated ⁣(about 4-5 large carrots)⁣⁣
1/2 cup raisins ⁣⁣⁣
1/2 cup chopped walnuts/sunflower seeds (plus more for topping)⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Glaze⁣⁣
1 cup coconut sugar⁣⁣
3 TBS milk ⁣⁣
1 tsp vanilla extract ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣Directions⁣⁣
Preheat oven to 375. In a medium bowl, mix together dry ingredients. Whisk together wet ingredients in a different bowl. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Fold in in carrots, raisins and walnuts until just combined (try not to over work the batter). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Add batter to a greased muffin tin, top with walnuts & raisins & bake for 15 min at⁣⁣ 375F. While baking, make the glaze. Add 1 cup of coconut sugar to a high speed blender/food processor. Blend/pulse until coconut sugar becomes “powdered” consistency. Whisk together milk, vanilla extract and coconut sugar until glazed is made. Drizzle over cooled muffins. Enjoy them warmed!
