Good morning everyone!

Today, after our Pranayama class,
we practiced Trataka, also known as concentrated gazing.

Here’s how you can do it:

Light a candle and place it on a small table at eye level when seated.

Keep the room dark and ensure there's no breeze.

Sit comfortably with your head and spine erect, about an arm's length from the candle.

Close your eyes and relax your whole body, especially your eyes.

Be aware of your body’s steadiness for a few minutes and remain absolutely still.

Open your eyes and gaze steadily at the flame without blinking or moving your eyeballs.

Avoid straining your eyes.Focus entirely on the flame until you lose awareness of your body.

When your eyes feel tired or start to water, gently close them and visualize the after-image of the flame.

Observe and try to stabilize the after-image.

When it fades, open your eyes and gaze at the flame again.

Repeat this process 3 to 4 times.

*Benefits of Trataka* include clearer, brighter eyes, a balanced nervous system, improved memory, concentration, and willpower. It also activates the ajna chakra, preparing you for deeper meditation and higher states of awareness.

In our today's Yoga Class, we incorporated the weight of another person to enhance the hamstring extension and forward bend in a practice called partner yoga.

A Very important technique for yoga teachers!

So let's see how it typically works:

The student stretching stands against the wall in a forward fold. Legs hips distance apart slightly away from the wall, butt against the wall.

The assisting student stands gently placing their feet on the lower back of the partner and applying light pressure to encourage a deeper forward bend.

The partner might also sit, Or take one foot forward to the middle back, while the back foot remains at the centre of the lower back.

Ensure the pressure is comfortable and not causing pain.

The assisting partner should apply pressure gradually and never force the stretch.

Both partners should maintain proper alignment to avoid strain and ensure the effectiveness of the stretch.

Using a partner's weight we can help deepen hamstring's stretches and improve flexibility, but it’s crucial to do so mindfully to prevent injury.
