*** 8 Week Mindfulness Training for Students ***

Mindfulness is a form of meditation that encourages a person to live in the present with a compassionate, accepting and non-judgemental awareness. It promotes a different kind of relationship with oneself and others and enhances the experience of living and being. Incorporating a mindful philosophy in everyday life can enable an individual to better respond to stressful situations.

This Basic Foundation Course helps you to systematically develop the skill of being present and nurture a mindful outlook on life. The eight week course aims to assist you in dealing with what can be stressful and challenging, helping you to take better care of yourself.

Students will be supported throughout the course to incorporate a mindful attitude into their daily life. Following the course, students will be encouraged to maintain their practice of mindfulness meditation, possibly becoming ambassadors within the university community. We envisage the development of a network of students who promote mindfulness and wellbeing, with the option for students to gain recognition from the university through an Edinburgh Award.
