Working to bring out the "Rockstar" in every photo. As a single person venture, this allows more care in every moment captured. I strive for high end quality above and beyond. I take the time to bring out every detail that changes an ordinary shot into something truly representative of the efforts every musician puts on stage. There is no production line here... only the best of what every band and venue can offer.

Monkey Wrench - Bo****ks - May 2023 21/05/2023

Monkey Wrench thumps Bo****ks in Oshawa!!

I had the pleasure to attend MW's first foray into Bo****ks in Oshawa. I've been a long time fan of their quality hard rock, hampered only by timing and distance. To say I was excited to see them play again after so long a time span is an understatement.

This is one of those bands that demonstrates exactly what should be done right - and a prime example of what we're missing since the return to live music after the shutdown.

I'm not saying anything negative about the venue at all. Bo****ks is a small to medium sized bar venue that's best remembered as being the Tartan Tavern, with exceptional renovations that makes you immediately see the difference between the venue's changes.

Add in the polished and chest thumping hard rock of Foo's best tribute played by some of the absolute best in the business, and you have a night that brings the lost excitement back into live music. I'm not dissing anyone here - it's just that Monkey Wrench is THAT powerful a band.

The one thing I completely forgot about was exactly how loud they play. That's not a bad thing - I'm talking big venue sound in a smaller stage. Huge musical sound that's crisp, clear and freaking loud. Smashing the decibels into you in a way that completely dwarfs other places. And that's the band's fault. They play and gear for that kind of quality heart thumping in your face sound that resembles Foo's style to a tee.

Such a rock and roll pleasure in a series of, "...meh. Not bad." performances.

Plugging here... visit their page, book this band. You can't go wrong.

Cheers - Jeff.

Thunderkok and Sons of Butcher @ The Atria - May 14, 2022 23/05/2022

Thunderkok and Sons of Butcher - The Atria - May 14, 2022

My long awaited show... Sons of Butcher on May 14th! I've been a fanboy of SOB since their show aired on Teletoon.

The Atria didn't disappoint! With a new sound system and lighting, the staple venue in downtown Oshawa is geared towards the ultimate concert experience.

For those of you who don't know - SOB had an animated series that featured adult black comedy mixed with hard metal. The full story is available all over the net. :-D

Thunderkok is a band from Ottawa featuring some absolutely unique heavy metal. Hard core pounding tunes mixed with bizarre dark comedic vocals, this band's start lit up the Atria. You can never tell if this is serious or comedy, but the music was powerful and heavy. It's not even just a clash... it was pure and seamless metal. The kind you'd expect from some of the top-notch bands.

Check out their unique take on life with their songs...
https://thunderkok.ca/

Sons of Butcher is a group based from Hamilton, Ontario. "Steeltown" is cartoon's generic name. Their songs are absurd renditions about life's every day stuff. They played a fair amount of their show's music - Sons of Butcher theme, We fu**in' Rule and so many more. You don't even have to know the lyrics... There's usually a three piece to the band plus a drummer, but they handled it fantastically with just two. I'd love to describe their music in details, but you really have to experience it.

My Friday theme has always been, "F**k the S**t" for many, many years. Listen to that, and you'll adopt it yourself.

MADAM - Rockpile - March 5, 2022.
(optimized for phones)

I'll admit, I'm a MADAM virgin. First time seeing their show, and first time shooting.

Hard rock, heavy metal. That's the sum up. Honestly, it's one of the best in GTA. Great vocals, smashing drums and absolute guitar squealing heaven!

Just about every tune you could think of that hits you hard, plus a custom composed MADAM original. You couldn't ask to be blasted any better.

For a first time out, I have to say.. MADAM ROCKS.

I bought t-shirts. :-D

Best of Both Worlds - Van Halen Tribute
(optimized for phones)

Drums and flats is styled in just that right kinda way that having an energetic tribute to Van Halen's Roth years makes absolute sense.

These guys have rocked the venue before, so it's no surprise they're back again on the eve of restrictions being lifted.

I've shot BoBW a few times already and they're solid. Not content with doing on the top ten hits, these guys dig deep for excellent renditions of ALL Van Halen's music.

Top class drums, guitars, vocals and energy make this a night well spent.

Lock them in every chance you get!

Aaron Allen, New Moon Junction & Suzi Kory - Biltmore, Oshawa 11/12/2021

So with an invite from New Moon Junction, I strapped on my Camera to get a good look at the Biltmore in Oshawa. I have to say it's quite a change from what I'm used to.

First up was a phenomenally talented woman doing a complete solo act. Acoustic solos are difficult, yet Mariah Evangeline came out sounding like an absolute professional. I can't quite compare her voice. She handled covers of popular country music and a few of her own with a solid voice that made you step back and listen.

Next was Suzi Kory, and what an unbelievably charismatic performer. With that dusky rock voice I personally love from female vocalists, she handled every song without even the slightest mistake. And not to be undone, she provided comedy in between songs. Great pokes and jokes! There's something about her that keeps you glued and watching.

New Moon Junction I have been following for a while. They seemed to come alive during the lockdown, while many other bands struggled. It shows: they used their practised talents to rip a completely smooth showing. I mean rip. With amazing original hits being played all over radio and streaming services, New Moon Junction is a powerful trio of musicians that bring hard expertise in a completely natural way to create a sound that would make you think they've been around for decades.

Last up was Aaron Allen, who won CCMA and has been touring up a storm. He's got that kind of "regular guy" look and feel to him, that makes him seem friendly and approachable. His wife was with him, and the duet showed what good couples can make in music. He's got a smooth voice that you just can't mistake anywhere else, and the smiling-good time attitude that shows he was enjoying it just as much as the crowd was.

Finally, I'd like to give a hat's off to the Biltmore for providing the venue. There's been a lot of work done to the place, and it's looking top notch. There's a story behind it, but I'll let you find out what it is.

And big hat's off to the infamous KX96 FM for supporting all of the local artists that they do. KX96 goes out of it's way to bring local budding bands into the mainstream flow.

Please enjoy this free work, and seek these excellent performers for any up and coming shows you might have!
