And now for something different
Yesterday was my last day at The Printing Office of Edes & Gill for the year. It's been one heckuva year, and I'm really glad to have a break.
We should be back in action in March 2024.
Thank you all to came to visit us from around the World, and thank you so much for buying our prints and supporting our work.
I'll be continuing work on printing my 250th Commemorative Tea Party plate.
2024 is gonna be even BUSIER for me with Revere engraving & printing. Already in panic mode for 2025 and 2026.
I'm hoping to try and do more with at too.
Today also marks 10 years that Higgins Armory Museum closed, and I am very grateful it and the arms & armor programs continues as Higgins Armory Collection at Worcester Art Museum. Thank you to all of those who came to see those presentations. We're hoping to have MORE arms & armor going on, and, I'll be at the museum on Feb. 17 2024 printing as Rembrandt. Make sure you go see that exhibit, it is very much worth your time.
Very sad news to wake up to this morning. I am grateful to have collaborated and shared love of engraving & printmaking with him for the very short time I'd learned about him and his work, even if it was only through online and social media.
Looks like a depiction of Isaiah Thomas reading the Declaration of Independence in Worcester

On the fifth day of MoP
I was so glad to see
The Nuremberg Chronicles
And a fantastic woodcut city
I thought delaying coming down to my art studio to continue printing my 250th Tea Party print today b/c of the storm would have meant the rain would have let up. Nope. Had to navigate a couple of partially flooded roads. I also try to avoid the "rural" tree-line roads in case any trees were down. But, the traffic lights at 146 in Sutton were out, and the State Trooper was frantically waving southbound traffic to continue south (I was about to try and take a left to get to 122A). So the roads I wanted to avoid were now the only option (as going back north the road just before the Pike/20 ramp was entirely flooded)
Have been hearing the sirens of the Northbridge FD all afternoon (and the old HQ is about a block down from the studio).
So, seems like I'm "stuck" here for a while longer than planned. But it's also Monday at 4PM, traffic is gonna get worse with rush-hour.....
And to think, had it been 20 degrees colder as it's supposed to be, these inches of rain would have likely been feet of (heavy) snow.
I'm hearing that there is suddenly a shortage of tea in the Boston area....I wonder why.....
TEA Destroyed by …..

Ugh. Why. Basic typography, people. >facepalm
Ugh. I'm sorry to be pedantic with typography, but that's a Long-S, not an L. So it's Sastburn.
Birding Is For Everyone.
I'm honestly not sure what my "first bird" was. You'd expect it to be a Raptor or Owl, But believe it or not, it's not one of those. (I'd say the Northern Harrier was my "first" interest with Raptor species) Although one of my earliest childhood memories is hearing a Great Horned Owl that apparently nested/roosted in a tree near our house, but I also remember my Mom mentioning Bobolinks that were a regular in the area (this being Lakeville MA), but I think the bird that got me into learning about what kinds of birds there are and the names we give them, might be the (Black-capped) Chickadee. I seem to remember my grandparent's house in Plymouth had a nesting pair in a tree in the backyard, and of course they were regulars at the feeders at the houses we lived in.
And yes, Osprey are pretty awesome.

Art & History
Art, History, Printing, Birds....
I am an Artist and Living History presenter in the Worcester, MA area.
Since 2004 (with a degree in Fine Arts from Westfield State College, now University, in 2000), I have been researching and working in the drawing and printing techniques of the Old Masters (ca 1200 - 1800) attempting to replicate their works or works in their style, using the same techniques and processes they used to create them.
I have had my Illustrations, Archaeological/Artifact Illustrations, and Technical Drawings published in 5 different publications, and looking to venture more into this line of work. Most recently were arms & armor for Dr. Mondschein’s “Game of Thrones and the Medieval Art of War” (McFarland Press 2017), Dr. Short’s “Icelanders of the Viking Age” (also McFarland), and Higgins Armory Museum. Other illustrations have been created for authors Resa Nelson and Erin Thorne.
