〽️In Turkey there is a traditional art called Erbu (it means cloud), translated as float painting or paper marbling. The earliest usage of this art form is to decorate calligraphy and book cover. What makes Erbu special is it has to be painted on water, there will not be two identical Erbu paintings even if painter uses exact same tools, paints, papers and techniques to draw. Erbu can be printed on different materials such as wood, cloths, metal etc.

This course will teach from the basic to the advanced techniques of Erbu painting, introducing different tools and paints which could be used in Erbu, let students learn it’s characteristic, enjoying the happiness of painting on water. Don’t hesitate to DM for enquiry!

〽️Erbu painting Workshop

MELD had been cooperating with Islamic kasim tuet memorial college, holding various workshops for students. Erbu painting is one of the highlights. Students can showcase their creativity on water with the natural beauty of Erbu, creating their unique masterpieces.

Our Muslims trainees had taken an important role as art tutors, teaching traditional Erbu art to fellow students from their alma mater. Due to the fact that students participated in this workshop were of different racial groups, which they do not often mix with each other, this workshop can act as a platform for students from different racial and cultural backgrounds to communicate. Art is a powerful tool for bridging different racial groups, a perfect choice to deepen their mutual understanding.

The guest speaker, Dr. Henry Fung, has provided us with film cameras to capture the dynamicusm of our communities and elaborated on the mechanism and practical skills of mastering them. Photographs transcend language barriers and races, and photographic films carry a sense of uncertainty. Yet it is such uncertainty that also gives us hope.

Students sharing different ethnicities gathered in the two-day workshop and shared the local neighborhood in their perspectives, despite all the cultural differences that exist between them.
