TCP Ltd
TCP are about innovation in lighting, compaction, and recycling, with customer focused support. Our latest innovation is our Hydrogen Fuel Cell range.
With headquarters based for over 25 years near the historic Essex town of Maldon, Taylor Construction Plant Ltd occupy a purpose built complex of offices, workshop facilities and warehousing. With depots in Coventry, Essex, Exeter and Leeds, TCP are able to supply coverage nationwide . Taylor Construction Plant Ltd continue to supply the UK with exceptional construction and compaction equipment. T
Cllr Peter Schwier, Essex County Council’s Deputy Leader and Climate Czar, visited the TCP Group HQ in Maldon, Essex last week.
Since the launch of the Council's Essex Climate Action, a film is being produced to feature businesses that offer zero-emission solutions in and around the County. This will be shared with Essex businesses to provide support in meeting their net-zero targets.
TCP took the opportunity to showcase a range of applications, using hydrogen fuel-cell power, all with zero-emissions at point of use.
With thanks to SW Cakery & CO, who brought along a food truck which was powered with green energy and Southern Screen Hire Ltd who brought along a huge LED screen - again using clean, green energy. Unlike diesel engines, there is no CO2 released at source, nor any other harmful chemicals such as Nitrous Oxides. It is also near-silent in operation, making it a great replacement for noisy, smelly diesel generators.

Do you want to know a bit more about Hydrogen?
Just released is a new film about 'Hydrogen, the fuel of the future – today' (a 12 minute video). This film illustrates current deployments of hydrogen and fuel cells both across the UK in a range of stationary and mobility applications.
'Hydrogen, the fuel of the future – today,' provides a new and unseen window into the use of hydrogen technology today in the UK, promoting the huge benefits that hydrogen technology brings and delivers a clear message that says; hydrogen technology is not the fuel of the future, but the fuel of today. The film explores how much energy is being produced and provided in the UK today, the infrastructure that already exists, along with comment from the people driving this industry forward. The core element of the film is to promote the normalisation of hydrogen, show the implementation of hydrogen and address current safety concerns.
This new film by Ben Burman (film and documentary maker) has been co-ordinated by TCP ECO and includes contributions from:
- Councillor Jenny Laing, Leader of Aberdeen City Council
- David Yorke, Ballard Power Systems Europe
- Geraint Bruton, BOC UK & Ireland
- Karen Ritchie, Bright Green Hydrogen
- Richard Stockwell, Fuel Cell Systems
- Stephen Learney, Haskel
- Andrew Barker, TCP ECO
- Jon Hunt, Toyota UK
With thanks also to Nigel Holmes, Natalie Tovey, Tiffany Scott, Adam Madgett and Jane Herbert for helping to make this happen.

As Storm Eunice took hold of much of the UK last Friday, TCP ECO came to the rescue of Charlie the horse. Charlie was in the middle of a tooth extraction when all power was lost due to the storm. Clarendon House, Equine Veterinary Surgeons based in Chelmsford, Essex, contacted TCP ECO for some emergency off-grid power. TCP ECO swiftly provided power for the endoscope and laptop, which ensured the tooth operation could continue thanks to Fuel Cell power from TCP ECO. The added bonus was boiling the kettle for a well deserved cup of tea for Vick and Dani – the surgeons! Well done to the team - and of course Charlie!
There is now a whole new meaning for “horse power”

TCP ECO recently supported a "world first" pilot study which has demonstrated that vertical farms powered by hydrogen can be a game-changer in the battle to halt climate change. TCP ECO provided the power for the Heath Park vertical farm, growing lettuces. Developed in partnership with Light Green Power, the LGP 2500 Power pack provides power without relying on the power grid. With zero emissions and zero noise, the LGP 2500 is capable of outputting up to 5kW to power. As legislation tightens on the use of diesel, the LGP 2500 is one of the few products that offers all of the performance of traditional generators but is approved for use in tunnels and tight spaces. Despite a compact, portable design, the power pack generates serious power without dangerous fumes during use.

The Effects of Artificial Lighting on Wildlife
One of the major contractors for the HS2 construction network were recently asked to address an ecological concern.
TCP ECO were approached to help with a lighting solution to avoid harm to Bats and their habitats. Traditional LED lighting gives out damaging frequency waves, which can seriously impact nocturnal wildlife. Bright lights can have a damaging effect on their foraging and breeding habits, reduce their social flight activity and can cause Bats to move away.
TCP ECO came up with a solution to operate at the lowest light temperature range using Prismatic Lens Technology with lamps that make the most effective use of every lumen produced. Known light patterns provide better quality, evenly spread light, with no flicker and reduced glare. This minimised light pollution, makes them perfect for environmentally sensitive areas while still being fit for purpose.
The TCP Ecolite Lighting Towers have silent operation, no harmful outputs, no ground spill risk and perfect for areas where there must be zero risk of contamination.
TCP ECO and the contractor for HS2 were delighted to find a positive solution by way of delivering quality lighting without harmful affects on the local wildlife.
