In the studio, recording, new music, had several writing sessions. There is so much talent in this town. Got to catch up with friends & eat some amazing chicken &waffles. Took a break and went to for karaoke night. Happy Monday the week is already picking up. Lots of exciting stuff happening. Stay tuned.

As many of you know, I shared on a previous post about losing my dear friend, Annie Fletcher to ovarian cancer. I want to make my social media a place that brings joy, uplifts you and inspires you. At the same time It’s important for me to be transparent with you when I am struggling. I don’t want to portray my life as perfect (because no one’s life is perfect) . None of us is exempt from facing grief, hardships ect. I have recently felt a pull to raise awareness about ovarian cancer on social media. Knowledge is power. We as women need to advocate for ourselves & each other.

Those of you who may not know this but there are specific tests that can be done for early detection. Just in case you are wondering, a Pap Smear does not detect. Two test that you should be asking your doctor for are a transvaginal ultrasound and The ROMA test which is a blood test.

Over the past month, I've been processing a lot of emotions which has led to me taking a break from posting on social media. It's frustrating when you feel the need for a social media hiatus, but algorithms penalize you if you don't frequently post. Slowly but surely, I'm making my way back to all my social media platforms, though it hasn't been easy.

During this past month, I suffered the loss of a dear friend to ovarian cancer. It's been exactly a month since her passing, and I'm still in disbelief. Annie was not only a close friend but also someone who helped me navigate my social media journey and made it enjoyable. The idea of posting or creating content has lost its joy for me.

However, I know Annie would want me to keep moving forward with my music, writing, and sharing it with all of you through my social platforms. This experience has reminded me of the preciousness of life and the uncertainty of our future. Consequently, posting on social media feels less important compared to cherishing each precious moment.

Amidst it all, I'm putting a smile on my face, appreciating each day, and finding moments of gratitude. It's not always easy, but I'm making an effort to recognize the small joys that come my way. I share this with you because I want you to know that I am a real person, dealing with genuine emotions. Some of you out there may be going through similar situations or simply feeling grateful to make it through each day. I want you to know that you're doing great, be kind to yourself, and remember that you are not alone in your feelings. 🤍

Let me get real with you; it wasn’t until my youngest was born that I started feeling like I was losing myself. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mom. I just felt this need to have a passion outside of my kids. Something that was for me. I was losing myself in motherhood and could no longer recognize parts of myself that I once loved.

When I started breaking it down, I realized the one thing in my life that never faltered was my love for music. I dreamt of making music. My very first live audience was my oldest son, Tyler. I then had three more kids.

Sorry long post… I woke up yesterday to an email saying congratulations to all. I opened up the attachment & saw my name & latest single “Leave Her Better ” on the list of top country downloads in Canada. What a way to start my week.

As an independent artist it’s tough. Definitely pro’s and con’s to it. I work hard & most days I am exhausted but I keep going ( as most of us independents are) Little gifts like this one are a good reminder that I just need to keep doing what I’m doing.
I am so grateful for radio giving me a chance. THANK YOU to everyone of you who have streamed, downloaded , and just listened to this song!!

Writing the song Leave Her Better is so important to me b/c I’ve never heard a song that’s addressed breakups in a way to make you think about how to end a relationship, being mindful when you make that choice. You can make conscious choice to breakup nicely & communicating in a way that respects a person you care for. So yes this is a breakup song with a twist. I hope the more people listen to it that they will think twice on how to end a relationship as gently & honestly as you can .
