Congratulations to our newest 1Fury Ranger’s!! PFC Ogletree, SPC Marlatt, and SGT Ikenaga will soon return home to Ft. Liberty after graduating from Ranger School this morning!!

As 1Fury comes back from leave we jumped back into preparing our bodies physically for the upcoming training exercises.

This week’s Paratrooper of the Week is none other than SSG Sneed from B Co 1-508th. As the senior Weapons Squad Leader in the Company, he consistently showcased his exceptional leadership skills by guiding his two gun teams to outperform all others in the Company across numerous training events.

Great week for the 508th PIR and the Army as SGM Wasierski, 1 Fury OPS SGM, is appointed to CSM Wasierski, and will fill the role as the 2 Fury CSM!

This week 1Fury Paratrooper of the Week is PFC Mangum from C Co. He is a highly motivated and competent young paratrooper who has been performing exceptionally well. Currently, he is leading the 2 Chuck Weapons Squad while his squad leader is away, and he has achieved great results. PFC Mangum successfully conducted a Day and Night Support by Fire Live Fire, supported a Fire Team during Team and Squad Live Fires, and effectively managed his Weapons Squad during Platoon Operations. He is extremely competent and sets a great example for all junior Paratroopers to follow!!

After over a week at the Leader Training Program, Ft. Johnson, Louisiana, the 1Fury Battalion Staff returns home having spent hours refining their familiarity with the Military Decision Making Process. The Staff returns to Ft. Liberty ready to make the final preparations needed to return this September for 1Fury’s JRTC rotation.

As 1Fury continues to refine their skills, the Paratroopers of B Co 1-508th demonstrate unwavering dedication to excellence by continually pushing their physical and mental limits.

This past week, the 1Fury Paratroopers executed Squad/Platoon Training Exercises and Live Fire Training Exercises with precision and determination. Check out C Co Paratroopers fully engaged, honing their skills to perfection.

1Fury’s “Paratrooper of the Week” is SGT Black from ABLE Company. SGT Black competed on the 1Fury 10-Miler Team and was the first 1Fury competitor to cross the finish line, clocking in at a time of 67 minutes! SGT Black’s athletic prowess and commitment to excellence is the embodiment of the Fury Spirit!

Following today’s All-American week Memorial Ceremony and Gold Star Family Luncheon, 1Fury was given the opportunity to spend time with the families of 1SG Russell Bell and SGT Jesse Tilton who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. The 1Fury family is eternally grateful, for not only their sacrifice, but the sacrifice of countless others that have gone before us.

On Friday we conducted a Battalion Change of Command between outgoing LTC Waggoner and incoming LTC Ammons.
We thank LTC Waggoner for his leadership over the last two years. We also want to thank his family for all of the support given to our Fury families and Paratroopers over the last two years.

Today, 1 Fury hosted Fury for a Day, where we showed our dedicated families what its like to be a Paratrooper in the 1-508th. Whether it was putting on camo face paint and a kit for the first time, or facing the fear of jumping out of the 34 foot towers, our team had an spectacular time. We thank all of our families, spouses, friends, and our Fury Paratroopers for this amazing day!

Some of our Fury Paratroopers helped out with Field Day at one of our schools on post. The kids and staff loved all their participation and learning more about all of their Paratrooper gear.

This morning, 1 Fury conducted a Hero WOD to honor CPL Benjamin Neal, a Bravo Company Fury Paratrooper who was killed on April 25th, 2012 in Afghanistan. Today we remember his legacy as we conducted a workout in his name.

Yesterday, 1 Fury conducted a Change of Command ceremony for outgoing Charlie (Rock) Company Commander, CPT Joshua Allyn, and incoming Commander CPT Matthew Edmonds.

It is bittersweet to say goodbye to CPT Allyn, as he has honorably commanded over Charlie Company for the past 23 months. CPT Allyn’s wife Jamie will also be greatly missed by 1 Fury as she has contributed so much to the Paratroopers and families of 1 Fury.

However, we welcome CPT Edmonds and his wife Grace to the Fury team. We know that he will successfully and humbly lead the Paratroopers of Charlie Company.

Last weekend a reenactment was hosted at Camp Toccoa. Gene Metcalfe was there again 82 years later, and we got to hear his stories from being in the 1-508 PIR in Operation Market Garden in C Co with 1 SGT Leonard Funk as his 1SGT. He was taken as a POW in Nijimegan and is now 101 years old. He proudly carries his 508 association card in his wallet every day. Thank you Gene for your service, what an honor to meet you.
