Since I'm getting ready to release some new music, I started thinking about other tunes that I wrote, arranged or produced. This cut was my first placement as a writer. It made it onto the soundtrack for the movie "Jason's Lyric". My second platinum album. I co-wrote the song with J. Quest and Tony Ortiz (from the freestyle group TKA.) Big thanks to Lisa Lisa (Lisa Lisa &Cult Jam), who introduced me to Tony.

Throwback to my days in the hip hop trenches. This was just after Tupac did the movie "Poetic justice." Tupac was an incredibly talented artist. He would show up in the studio with no lyrics at all, go in the vocal booth while we were still working on the music and come out with all of his verses and hooks. Most of the time I was the only musician in those sessions so I got to record keys, guitar, bass and vocals when needed on this album. I got to lay down the bass synth on "Holler if You Hear Me" and "Struggling." I also got to sing the hook in "Something to Die For."
