Born in Halifax Nova Scotia, and have lived all over Canada before moving to the far northern suburbs of Chicago as a teen. After serving in the US Army I settled down back in the suburbs of Chicago and realized while I traveled I loved to cook and always missed my Grandmother's Butter Tarts. Butter Tarts, originally invented in Ontario around 1900, is a flaky handheld dessert similar to a pecan p
I might not agree with Strugglebeardbakery on his stance on egg nog, I love it with a good rum, but his posts are hilarious and treats look delicious! From one vet to another keep up the great work.

Here are a few of the Thanksgiving boxes that went out. The ones with the maple leaves on them were the Maple Syrup tarts (made with Canadian maple syrup), the others were Classic Caramel, Pecan, and Raisin.
Chicagoans when winter finally starts to catch up with us.
Being a Bluenoser myself I always thought the term came from the famous schooners or from the cold frozen noses on sailors. I hadn’t heard about it starting as an insult due to people eating herring and blue potatoes. It’s like the term Yankee Doodle I guess, you can try to insult an east coaster but they’ll turn it into a term of endearment.
Bluenoser makes it into the Oxford dictionary | CBC News Bluenoser, a moniker long used to describe Nova Scotians, has been added to the pages of the Oxford English Dictionary.
Today, and everyday, is a good day to support a small business. They are your friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Your purchase goes back into the community and goes to pay for school supplies and trips for their kids and to buy materials and supplies from other local businesses.
If you ever come by on a bake day this is likely what you’re going to see. While we’re having fun in the kitchen rocking to Rush or Great Big Sea I also take food safety seriously. All hair covered and gloves worn.
From our family to yours hope you have a great Thanksgiving. We appreciate every like, share, and especially those that have trusted us with providing them their taste of Canada in Chicago.
Thank you all who ordered their Thanksgiving Butter Tarts. Hope everyone has a great and safe Thanksgiving.
Congratulations to the Montreal Alouettes on winning the Grey Cup! Broke out the stash of All Dressed and ketchup chips to watch.

If you ever need to find a Canadian ask them how they like their coffee. If they respond “Crisp” you’ve found them. 😆
I would really love the plans for this build as Ms Tart would like this for Christmas!
It’s a beautiful day for butter tarts! The Maple Butter tart is delicious and only uses real Canadian maple syrup. This one is getting paired with a cup of coffee and a day of webex meetings.
We’re getting close to the deadline to order for Thanksgiving and sports are filling up. If you want to save some time in the kitchen and let someone else make dessert drop a DM and let’s bring a taste of Canada to your Thanksgiving dinner.
Hope you all had a great Veterans Day and have a chance to celebrate the Veterans in your life. These days were some of the best due to being a surrounded by amazing people and having crazy experiences. iTAB (individual Tactical Assault Bunny) also brought smiles to everyone everywhere we went.

The history between Boston, Mass and Halifax, Nova Scotia is deep and especially ever since the massive Halifax Explosion (1917) when the city was leveled in the biggest explosion in North America until the atom bomb.
There she is! 🎄💙 - Erin & Peter
In case you weren’t aware I earned my US citizenship through serving in the US Army.
As such any time I’m able to support a local business raising money for veterans I’m right there. This past weekend DK Fitness Arts Taekwondo had an amazing board breaking fundraiser and raised almost $4,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. My hat is off to them for such an amazing event and their black belt group were like a well oiled machine keeping the kids moving and giving impressive demonstrations. My kiddo and I had a blast punching and kicking our way though so many boards that day. Let’s raise a tart to these guys and all they do!

It’s time to think about Thanksgiving and what are you going to serve for dessert. Why not let someone else do the baking and serve a taste of Canada 🇨🇦 while you’re at it. Orders must be DM’d by Friday 11/17 and pickup will be in Arlington Heights, IL with time discussed when ordering.
It’s a busy day over here at tart central, but always have to make time for the Calgary Stampeders vs BC Lions!

While I obviously love a great butter tart, if you ever need one just ask. No tart is worth a $2500 broken window.

It was a chilly and damp Sunday but made brighter by making a Classic Trio box for someone. These boxes include 2 each of Caramel, Raisin, and Pecan.

Always thinking of Gord, The Hip, and everything they brought to Canada’s music scene. They’re up there with Rush and The Guess Who in my opinion.
