After both teams survived challenges from their nearest division rival in the Wild Card round, the AFC North Champion Cincinnati Bengals travel to Highmark Stadium to face the AFC East Champion Buffalo Bills in today's AFC Divisional Playoff matchup. Kickoff is at 3pm Eastern Time.

This is a rematch of the unfortunate January 2nd matchup, but this time in Buffalo as the Bills are the higher seed. The Damar Hamlin collapse will weigh heavy in the mind of the players, for sure, but on the field and in the game, the Bills will be looking to stop the dynamic receiving duo of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins and will need to get more pressure against Joe Burrow...not so difficult when one considers that Jonah Williams and Alex Cappa join the long list of Bengals' O-line starters that will be out. It will be up to Oliver, Rousseau and company to get more pressure than they did last week to make up for the loss of Von Miller and make life as uncomfortable as possible. Tre Edmunds and Matt Milano had great games but also missed critical tackles; they will need to play better against Joe Mixon and a fearsome Cincy run game. Kaiir Elam is the likely starter at CB2 with Dane Jackson questionable.

Josh Allen's three turnovers led to 18 of Miami's 31 points last week. It is safe to say that if the Bills make mistakes like they did last week, they will not advance against a very good Cincinnati defensive front, though their secondary, like Buffalo's, has question marks. Eli Apple and Cam-Taylor Britt have played well enough, but will they be able to not only cover Stefon Diggs but playoff star Gabriel Davis as well? Safeties Bell and Bates are solid, but with McKenzie back and Dawson Knox re-emerging the past several weeks, they'll be hard-pressed...unless they can capitalize on Allen's errors. This would be a good game to not only capitalize on the run game, but also a run-pass option and get Singletary and Cook the ball on short pass plays. And then there's the threat of Allen in the run game. The Bills' much-maligned (deservedly so) o-line will have a test on their hands; they are relatively healthy today and will need to play better than last week against an even better edge-rusher defensive front led by Trey Hendrickson and B.J. Hill.

These two teams are very evenly matched, so much like everyone else, it's hard to pick who has a decisive advantage. If anything, it has to be the Bills, playing at home where they've only historically lost once (in Jim Kelly's twilight years against a strong Jaguars team)...the 12th man of Highmark Stadium and Bills Mafia gives them the slightest edge against a Bengals team that has won 10 straight. But the Bengals shouldn't be overlooked as they are quite capable of pulling off the upset here. Should be a great game.

Wild Card Weekend's middle day begins with an AFC East rivalry rematch as the AFC East Champion and AFC No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills host their rivals the Miami Dolphins who limped into the final wild card spot last weekend. Kickoff is at 1:05pm Eastern at Highmark Stadium.

Miami's much ballyhooed (and deservedly so!) firepower has waned over the past few weeks. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been ruled out with a concussion, and running back Raheem Mostert (who ran for a season high 136 yards during the last matchup between these two teams) has a broken thumb. The Dolphins will trot out Skylar Thompson to start against a resurgent Bills defensive line with LT Terron Armstead questionable. The Bills will hope to have Damar Hamlin in the house to root on the team just two weeks after his frightening cardiac arrest on the field of the game against the Bengals. What an emotional boost that will be for this team! On the field, more of a lift, for though Micah Hyde will not play today, he did practice and that looms large IF the Bills can avoid the upset. Miami still has the duo of Jayden Waddle and Tyreek Hill and these two can make a difference against the Bills' secondary; seeing who will match up at CB2 be it Dane Jackson or Khalir Elam will be interesting. Wilson and Salvon Ahmed will both need to pick up the slack with Mostert out, but what will be most impactful will be the makeshift line holding up and the ability of Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, and the Bills' defensive front to get pressures on Thompson, so that he doesn't have time to get the ball to one of his key playmakers.

I feel like a broken record in saying this, but on offense, it's really all about Josh Allen playing a clean game and not turning over the ball, especially in the red zone, and this game can be over early. Mitch Morse is healthy and that's critical to keeping Buffalo's offensive line intact against Miami's dangerous defensive line. Keeping the running game going with the resurgence of Devin Singletary with James Cook will be critical to opening up the pass game, with Dawson Knox suddenly a factor and the re-activated and rejuvenated John 'Smoke' Brown playing with the always great Stefon Diggs against a Miami secondary whose best CB in Xavien Howard is nursing a knee injury and may not be 100% to the task of trying to slow down Diggs.

And then we have special teams, a major factor for the Bills last week with Nyheim Hines returning two kickoffs for scores. You will imagine Miami will try to kick it away from him...but how much do you think the Dolphins will really score with Skylar Thompson against a still formidable defense, with or without Von Miller? And then, you have the Damar factor...the Bills will be at home and still riding an emotional high with this young man still very much on their minds and hearts. The Dolphins will have an uphill climb ahead of them, but one can never rule out a division rival. Let's see if Josh Allen and company are ready to take the next step. They have been the favorites all year long; now it's time for them to prove why. Should be a great game!

After a tumultuous week to stay the least, the Buffalo Bills host their season finale against a New England Patriots squad who need to win to get into the playoffs this afternoon at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is at 1pm Eastern.

Emotions will be running high for the Bills, especially on defense after what happened to starting safety Damar Hamlin on Monday Night in Cincinnati. Will the rest of the Bills' secondary respond well, running off the emotions to stifle Mac Jones and company. Having done so a few weeks ago, smart money is they will, especially as the Bills are not reporting any significant injuries this week. Ed Oliver and Greg Rousseau were excellent in the last meeting with anchoring pressures on Jones and keeping the run game and Rhamondre Stevenson neutralized. Watch Tre'Davious White vs. Jakobi Myers, New England's biggest weapon and target in the passing game.

Again, Josh Allen limiting mistakes will be crucial for the Bills' chances for success in clinching the No. 2 seed for the AFC playoffs. Stefon Diggs had one of his best games last time out against New England; no reason to believe that the Patriots have figured him out. Dawson Knox has been stellar recently and Devin Singletary and James Cook have been great lately also. Can New England's pass rush, anchored by Matt Judon and Josh Uche, harass Allen and company enough to keep the game close?

As important as this football game is to the Buffalo Bills and their fans, for more reasons than just the game, it is difficult to see New England winning here. Too much emotion is riding here, and with so much on the line, expect a great game from Buffalo, though look for the Patriots to give it their all. But really, it's all about Damar Hamlin today. Should be a great matchup!

Capping off an exciting Week 17 is a matchup between two of the AFC's elite squads! The AFC East Champion Buffalo Bills visit the Cincinnati Bengals as Josh Allen and Joe Burrow square off for the first, but definitely not last (perhaps even this season) time. Kickoff is at 8:15pm Eastern at Paul Brown Stadium.

The matchup is huge for playoff implications at the top of the league. The Bills control their own destiny for the #1 seed and home field advantage in the AFC; the Bengals have a chance with a win to not only win the AFC North but also stay in contention for that same #1 seed; a win lifts them to the 2 seed as well while drops the Bills to the 3 seed.

Let's talk about matchups: while conventional wisdom will match Ja'Marr Chase against Tre'Davious White for the key Bengals offense vs. Bills defense matchup, count on Leslie Frazier to change it up a bit, Kaiir Elam should see significant time against Tee Higgins and Chase, as the matchup is favorable for the rookie over Dane Jackson. But the real key for Buffalo's defense will be pressures against Joe Burrow...cue in Ed Oliver and Greg Rousseau and their resurgent play over the 6-game winning streak the Bills have been on. Rousseau vs. right tackle Hakeem Adenji is a favorable matchup for Buffalo. Holding Burrow, Joe Mixon and the Cincy running game will be crucial to the Bills' defense as well; Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds will have their hands full but are quite capable of keeping pace and forcing Burrow and company to beat them with his arm, which he has been quite capable of doing all season but will be challenged by the Bills' secondary, which will miss Xavier Rhodes today.

Josh Allen will have to limit mistakes and that will be key to how Buffalo wins the game in the trenches. Eli Apple and Cam Taylor-Britt have been burned this season by elite receivers, so Stefon Diggs, who was a non-factor last week against the Bears, should see considerably more action than he did last week. The re-emergence of Dawson Knox (as well as Gabriel Davis) last week will prove crucial as Allen will need to spread the ball around; but the Bills' running game anchored by Allen, Devin Singletary and James Cook will need to break out against a very strong Bengals' run defense; count on Logan Wilson, Josh Tupou and company to make life difficult there and also count on a heavy dose of blitz mixed with zone coverage to confuse and pressure Allen and company. Pro Bowl center Mitch Morse is back, and that should help a Bills' o-line that was tested early on against Chicago and came together in the second half.

The Bills have yet to win a road playoff game in the Sean McDermott era, and that should keep them motivated as this is their biggest test yet. Win here and stop a red-hot Bengals team that has won seven straight, and the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC should go through Buffalo, where they have not lost a playoff game. But Cincinatti is also super motivated; if they win today and next week and the Chiefs stumble against the Raiders, and THEY become the #1 seed in the AFC. Either way, this game is a probable playoff preview and should see that intensity all game. We can't wait! What a way to bring in the New Year!

24/12/2022

Christmas Eve is here, and the Buffalo Bills, coming off a thrilling win over division rival Miami, come to Chicago in the hope of beating the reeling Bears and clinching another AFC East title in the process for their fans. Kickoff is at 1pm at Soldier Field.

The Bears have Justin Fields, and he alone is enough to keep them in this game, as he showed last week in their heroic effort against the Eagles. Keeping the Bills' defense on their toes with the running game will be key if Chicago hopes to pull off the upset. Fields is the best running QB this year, opposite his opponent anyway. Missing Boogie Basham already, if Ed Oliver and Jordan Phillips don't play, the Bills may be very vulnerable in this area, and the nasty, cold and windy weather favors the run game. Not having Chase Claypool anyway, Chicago doesn't have much choice...keying the line anchored by Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano on David Montgomery and FB Khari Blasingame will force Fields to throw and lead to big plays in a relatively healthy Buffalo secondary.

The Bills are second in the league in total offense and fourth in scoring offense, and the Bears haven't been able to stop anyone. But the secondary played well last week, watch Jaylon Jones on Stefon Diggs! Josh Allen will need to limit mistakes against an opportunistic defense, but look for Buffalo to hurt Chicago on the ground more, as Devin Singletary and Hines could both get untracked against a porous Chicago run defense. Despite the cold and the conditions, the Bills should put up some good numbers against the Bears.

Putting this in perspective...these two teams are going in opposite directions. Buffalo is eyeing the top seed in the AFC, Chicago is dead last in the NFC. The Bears may pull Fields early if this gets ugly...conversely, the Bills know how much each and every game means towards their ultimate objective. But they can't overlook a Bears team that proved last week that they are still trying despite their record and the fact that the only thing they are playing for, besides draft position, is pride. But Fields and company DO have that. Should be a great game at historic Soldier Field!

The final game of a special Saturday NFL tripleheader is a battle of the top two teams in the AFC East. The division and AFC-leading Buffalo Bills host their division rival and second place Miami Dolphins at snowy Highmark Stadium, a rematch of the earlier September meeting that the Bills lost at a hot Hard Rock Stadium. The conditions and seasons will be reversed at the 8:15pm Eastern kickoff time.

Tua Tagovailoa has struggled the last two games following a five game winning streak, as had the Miami offense after throwing up impressive numbers during the month of November. The 49ers...and to a greater extent and surprisingly, the Chargers...frustrated Tua and Tyreek Hill and Waddle. The Dolphins only had 212 yards of offense in the first meeting against Buffalo, and that was the Bills missing Tre'Davious White, Jordan Poyer and Matt Milano...all of whom are active for this matchup. Much has been made of Tagovailoa's struggles in cold weather, and add that to the snow...it may be tough sledding for this offense that only averages 90 yards rushing per game. Ed Oliver and Greg Rousseau have stepped it up in Von Miller's absence...look for them to make life uncomfortable. Will Raheem Mostert be able to save the day? He's capable of breaking one or two out, and if Jeff Wilson can play, he might be able to assist a miserable Dolphins running game when they will need it most. Interesting matchup will be the expected Tre'Davious White vs. Tyreek Hill, and who will the Bills start at CB2, Khair Elam or Dane Jackson...? Covering Waddle will also be essential for Buffalo to take Tua out of the game.

In September's game, Buffalo outgained Miami 500-212 in yards but made critical mental mistakes, mostly by Josh Allen, which cost them the game. Due to the snowy conditions, it will be up to the running game, and Devin Singletary needs to support Josh Allen against a porous Miami defense. The Bills re-signed Cole Beasley this week, hoping that he and John 'Smoke' Brown returning will help out Stefon Diggs as Gabe Davis has been surprisingly ineffective as of late.

It's going to be about protecting the football this game, and the Bills will need Allen to be effective and not make the critical mistake that can let Miami into a game that the Bills need to hold on to their playoff position and put them in position to win the division next week. For the Dolphins, having had two bad games offensively, it's a hard environment to get their offense back on track, but they will have to do so against a tough defense. One can never count out Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, even against a stout Buffalo secondary. Should be a great game between two top notch squads.

Coming off of an impressive road win at the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills now have a division win and due to other events last weekend, find themselves back in first place in the AFC East AND the AFC. They will need to stay on their winning ways to maintain their position, and it starts this afternoon against the New York Jets, who beat them 20-17 last month in MetLife Stadium. The rematch is at 1pm Eastern at Highmark Stadium.

Instead of facing Zach Wilson, who played a pretty competent game against them in Week 9, the Bills will face Mike White, who has electrified a dormant Jets offense the past couple of weeks, Mike White had a bad time the last time he played the Bills, throwing four picks; don't look for that today, but at the same time, Buffalo, even without Von Miller who is out for the rest of the regular season, will still be able to pressure better than Minnesota's defense did. Watch a potential matchup with Garrett Wilson, who had a stellar game against the Viking last weekend, against a returning-to-form Tre'Davious White. Defensively speaking, the Bills were missing key pieces in the last meeting, with Tre, Jordan Poyer, and Matt Milano. All three will play today, and defensive pressures by the line may force White into some bad throws. Don't count on Carter or Knight to have such a great time running the ball as they did Week 9.

Josh Allen had a terrible game last time, no if and or buts about that; but the Jets' defense will be looking to repeat their success today. Gabe Davis has been quiet up until last week's game against New England; look for him and Isaiah McKenzie to pick up some of the weight against a tough Jets secondary that will be looking to take Stefon Diggs out of the game. Devin Singletary and James Cook on the catch/run option have relieved a good amount of the pressure from Allen to have to carry this offense. Sauce Gardner vs. Diggs produced a matchup in Gardner's favor last time; look for Diggs to want to avenge that matchup this game.

The Jets haven't swept the Bills since the 2016 season, and don't think the Bills haven't thought about that Week 9 loss and wanting to avenge it. Both teams have a lot on the line today; the Jets are looking to stay in the playoff race, while the Bills are looking to hold onto their #1 position in both the AFC East and the AFC overall. Should be a great game between two top notch squads!

24/11/2022

Happy Thanksgiving! As always, we are thankful for football (as well as food, friends and family) and the usual exciting slate on hand for this year. First up are the Buffalo Bills at 7-3 and coming off a much needed win over the Cleveland Browns, staying in Detroit to play the hometown Lions in their annual Thanksgiving Day game. Kickoff is at 12:30pm Eastern at Ford Field, broadcast nationally on CBS.

20/11/2022

Due to a heavy snowstorm that enveloped Buffalo the last few days, the Bills' home game this Sunday has been moved to Ford Field in Detroit. The Buffalo Bills have lost two straight and are looking to get right against the last place in the AFC North Cleveland Browns this afternoon. Kickoff is at 1pm Eastern Time.

The Bills have been challenged to contain great runners as of late, and the task gets no easier this Sunday as they have to face Nick Chubb who leads the NFL in rushing this season. The Bills' defense will miss Tremaine Edmunds and Greg Rousseau along with Tre'Davious White who still hasn't taken the field yet this season. Edmunds and Rousseau's presence will be missed in stopping the Browns' rushing attack, while they welcome Jordan Poyer back to try to contain the Browns' terrific receiving corps in Amari Cooper and Donovan People-Jones. Jacoby Brisset has not played well historically against the Bills and time for the Bills' defensive line to get pressure...meaning Von Miller and Ed Oliver time for the Bills to get back to their usual form after getting shredded by the Vikings last week.

How much of a toll from the adventurous travel last week will that take on the Bills? We'll see in their offensive game! Devin Singletary got untracked last week with a pair of rushing touchdowns; look for him and James Cook to have a great game against a porous Browns' run defense (even worse than that of Buffalo's over the past couple of weeks!). The Bills are relatively healthy offensively, but hoping to avoid the mental errors that have doomed them the last couple of weeks on that side of the ball. Josh Allen should have a bounce back game today; the Browns will miss starting corner Greg Newsome with a concussion, and Stefon Diggs should have another great game today.

Though it may be shocking that the Bills for all of their talent are 6-3, there is a lot of season left for them to right the proverbial ship. The Browns, outside of Nick Chubb, have struggled to stay in games and win all season. They're hoping to pull off the upset this afternoon, but the Bills have a massive home field advantage with the game being in Detroit, where Cleveland has historically not played well. See you in Detroit!

13/11/2022

The Buffalo Bills lost a close game last week in New Jersey; even more troubling than the loss was the potential injury to their star quarterback and MVP candidate Josh Allen. They still lead the AFC despite all of this, and are hoping to re-group at home today against the surprising Minnesota Vikings, who at 7-1 are off to an unexpectedly great start and own the NFC's second best record. Kickoff is at 1pm Eastern at Highmark Stadium.

Defensively, the Bills will have Tre'Davious White finally active today...it isn't clear how much he will play, but with Jordan Poyer inactive at safety, the Bills will need all the secondary help they can get to try to contain Justin Jefferson, who is having a great season. Xavier Rhodes was activated from the practice squad and should see some action, and Matt Milano is back to help anchor the Bills' defensive backfield. Kirk Cousins has had tough times in big games on the road (see his performance earlier this year against Philadelphia) and with this defensive line, he could have some issues. T.J. Hockenson made some big plays last week; the Bills will do well to try to contain him burning them as well this week. Milano's return, along with a healthy Rousseau, will be critical in containing Dalvin Cook, as Buffalo's run defense has become (again) an issue in an otherwise stalwart defense.

Despite the angst all week, it looks like Josh Allen will play, and likely start, this game. But even with Case Keenum, the Bills' offense should do well against a porous Vikings' pass defense that ranks 26th in the NFL. Stefon Diggs goes against his former team; Keenum would also be facing his former team; the two lit it up in Minneapolis and there is no reason to believe that, if Allen is sidelined, they won't do it again today. Look for Dalvin's little brother James Cook to be involved with the run/pass option while the Bills will look to get Devin Singletary untracked in this game, taking the onus off of Allen (or Keenum). The Vikings' defense hasn't been as generous as Buffalo's, ranking 10th against the run.

There's a lot of question marks around this game, mostly regarding Allen's status. Don't discount Case Keenum, surrounded by great weapons in Buffalo! The Vikings have excelled in close game management, so the Bills will need to take a page from the Eagles in taking this team out of the game early in order to get a win here. These are two great teams and this should be an exciting matchup nonetheless!

06/11/2022

The New York Jets have been one of the surprises of this NFL season, particularly after a 4-game winning streak including wins over the Dolphins and Packers. That all came crashing down in a loss last week at home to the New England Patriots. Now, they prepare for a bigger test as the AFC-leading Buffalo Bills come to MetLife Stadium this afternoon for another division tilt. Kickoff is at 1pm Eastern.

The Bills have been snake-bitten in the secondary. Jordan Poyer will not play due to injury, it was a good thing for Buffalo to have signed Dean Marlowe who played for them from 2018 to 2020. Good news is that the Bills could see some action from Tre'Davious White for the first time this season, But the Bills defense vs. Jets offense matchup will really be focused on the healthy Bills' defensive line and how much pressure they can get on QB Zach Wilson, who is the worst in the league under pressure, Without Breece Hall (out for the season with a torn ACL), the passing game will be an onus for the Jets against a Bills defense which is 3rd in the league total and first with 14 takeaways. Garrett Wilson has been a breakout star on this offense; watch the Wilson vs. Dane Jackson matchup today.

On the other side of the ball we have the Jets' duo of rookie Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed vs. the Bills' all-stars Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Gardner vs. Diggs will be the matchup we will all want to see, as Diggs is second in the league with 764 yards and 7 touchdown catches. The Jets have been solid defensively so far this year, but they haven't faced Josh Allen yet, and Allen, coming off a two interception game where he threw for only 218 yards, will be super motivated for a bounce back game. Look for Devin Singletary to continue his stellar play as of late against a Jets defense that is vulnerable to the run.

Even with the secondary issues, the Bills have so many weapons on defense and offense, and the Jets are particularly vulnerable on offense as Wilson continues to progress. Perhaps he will have a breakout game today, and the Jets' secondary will be able to play the Bills' receivers well enough to keep this game competitive? The Bills will be looking to improve to their best record since 1993, the last time they went to a Super Bowl. Should be a great matchup in East Rutherford today!

30/10/2022

Losers of three straight for the first time in Aaron Rodgers' career, the Green Bay Packers are in trouble, and heading for a Sunday Night matchup against the 5-1 Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is at 8:20pm Eastern in Orchard Park, home of the Bills who had a bye last week and are still sporting the AFC's best record.

Rodgers has been missing Devante Adams badly this season, and for this game will be without Aaron Lazard and Randall Cobb, as well. All against a Bills fearsome front four anchored by Von Miller and Greg Rousseau. The Bills lead the NFL in total defense, sacks and takeaways, and the Packers will need to play an A+ game to keep the Bills' defense from disrupting Rodgers and even allowing Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon to make any noise. Tre'Davious White won't start today, but the Bills' secondary is still formidable, and rookies Christian Benford and Kaiir Elam have been great, while Dane Jackson has grown well into his CB2 slot position. Look for them to have big games in harrying former Bill Sammy Watkins and rookie Christian Watson all game long, and force Rodgers into some mistakes to set up...

Josh Allen and company! Jaire Alexander is an elite defender, but he will have his hands full guarding Stefon Diggs. Former Packer Jake Kumerow will be looking to prove himself; look for Allen to get him and Dawson Knox involved in the juggernaut offense that is Buffalo. The Packers know they will need to limit Allen as best they can; look for Devin Singletary to keep rolling and have a big game against the Packers' defense which has been porous against the run during their current losing streak.

Aaron Rodgers has won 13 consecutive prime time games, so we cannot ever count him or the Packers out. But it will be a tall task for THIS Packers team to stop Buffalo in this game. Never say never though; will be a great matchup between two great quarterbacks!

16/10/2022

The weekend's marquee matchup falls at 4:25pm Eastern/3:25pm Central, when the 4-1 Kansas City Chiefs host the 4-1 Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium. It is a rematch of last year's thrilling AFC Divisional and the AFC Championship two years ago. Record-wise, these are the two best teams in the AFC, and that may also be true in the long run.

Patrick Mahomes has never been a home underdog in his career. The Chiefs haven't skipped a beat on offense without Tyreek Hill; neither have the Bills on defense without Tre-Davious White, who practiced for the first time this week. He will not be active for today's game, BUT Jordan Poyer and Tremaine Edmunds do return to solidify the Bills' defensive core. It will be interesting to see Travis Kelce vs. Jordan Poyer this afternoon, and how big the Von Miller factor will be on the Bills' ability to contain Mahomes...if they can do so. The Chiefs, like the Bills this offseason, sured up their offensive line with this matchup in mind; we will see that works out. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has had some of his best games against a Bills defense that had been porous against the run; not so thus far this season, but let's see how they do against a speedy Chiefs' running back corp, assisted by Mike Burton and Jerick McKinnon. Greg Rousseau and Miller have had 4 sacks each; the Chiefs' o-line will be challenged indeed today.

The Chiefs' secondary was unable to slow down the Raiders last week, and has a tall task with no Rashad Fenton or Bryan Cook this week. Stefon Diggs should be able to get untracked, and, moreover, this is as good a spot as any for the Bills to finally this season get their running back tandem of Singletary and Moss going to take the onus off of Josh Allen. The Bills' o-line is healthy and that should make a major difference in this game vs. that AFC Championship game a couple of years ago. Gabriel Davis had a monster game last week, and either he, Diggs, or Isiah McKenzie should benefit by whomever the Chiefs stack against. The big challenge will be for Allen to avoid mistakes; it was a costly interception that led to their only loss this season, and it will be up to Allen to play smart and for the team in general to avoid mistakes.

What a matchup in Week 6! It should be an electric feel in the air, as the winner has the inside track to that treasured first round bye and homefield in the playoffs. Should be a great matchup!

09/10/2022

Since their season-opening overtime win at the defending AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers have lost three straight, their latest ignominious loss came last week at home against the New York Jets. Things don't get any easier as they shuffle off to Buffalo to face the Bills, who came back from a big deficit last week to beat the Baltimore Ravens on the road. Kickoff is at 1pm at Bills Stadium.

The Steelers start rookie Kenny Pickett for the ineffective former Bill backup Mitchell Trubisky. Talk about a baptism under fire! Pittsburgh's offensive line has been largely ineffective and though the Bills may be missing Tremaine Edmunds and Ed Oliver again, Von Miller and company still pose a tremendous challenge to the rookie QB. Jordan Poyer will again be out but the Bills' secondary rose to the challenge in the second half; anchored by the recovered Dane Jackson at corner, the new safety tandem of Hamlin and Jaquan Jackson will have their hands full with George Pickens (the favored new target of Pickett) and possibly Chase Claypool will get involved, though look for the Steelers to try to get Najee Harris untracked, Though Harris has traditionally done well against the Bills, with the new focus from Rousseau and Miller aided by Epenesa, the Bills should be able to stifle any running attack offered by the Steelers, which will add more pressure on Pickett.

Josh Allen will look to get untracked from last week, and the Steelers will be less imposing on defense without TJ Watt. Cam Hayward was key to pressuring the Bills' offense last year, and they will need to contain him and the still formidable Pittsburgh defensive line. Still, look for Allen to make plays with his legs, feed the ball to Devin Singletary who should finally get untracked today, and to feed his receivers from a depleted Pittsburgh secondary. The Bills will not have Knox or Kumerow so the tight end position will be tested and McKenzie is listed as questionable so Diggs, Gabe Davis (hopefully up to speed finally this week) and rookie Khalil Shakir (who got very much involved last week) will need to pick up the slack this week.

This looks very much to be a mismatch on paper, but one can't count out any Mike Tomlin coached team, and the Bills are probably the most snake bitten team in the NFL with the injury bug. Will Buffalo be able to overcome their injuries to beat the Steelers? Very likely, but the games are played for a reason; never count Pittsburgh out. Should be a great matchup!
