Even though the sun is shinning Christmas is never too far from the thoughts of Rushmoor Christmas Angels.

Many of our lovely knitters will be packing their needles and wool as they head off on their holidays.

We mentioned in a previous post that the "Longest Yarn" project will be coming to Aldershot in November.

You can see the BBC feature about this project by clicking the link below

Some of our knitters are in the throes of creating one further panel especially for this display

"The Longest Yarn" will be on display in the Royal Garrison Church of All Saints, Aldershot from Sunday 3rd November.

***There are many interesting facts that make this project well worth seeing including the fact that one of the scenes on display depicts the famous moment Lord Lovat and Piper Bill Millin crossed Pegasus Bridge.

Piper Millin’s son donated his father’s favourite jumper which was unravelled and used to knit the figures of Piper Bill - this feature alone gives a real poignancy to this project.

We will keep you all up to speed with details of how you can visit "The Longest Yarn" when it comes to Aldershot

Our knitters (and crocheters) are meeting tomorrow morning......we would love to see you if you would like to join us.

It's never too late to join the team.

I you knit or crochet (or know someone who does) and would like to be part of this fantastic community project we would love to see you at our next knitting party.

We know that Christmas isn't for another 27 weeks, BUT this project never stops and it is a great opportunity to use your knitting skills, catch up with friends and be part of something amazing over the Christmas period.

Not quite knitted angels but close enough that we thought some of you may be interested.

Breaking news……“The longest yarn” is coming to Aldershot.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the D-day landings and we are already in the midst of marking this occasion.

Something very exciting will be taking place in Aldershot Garrison this coming November……….something you will not want to miss.

“The longest Yarn” will be on display in Aldershot at the Royal Garrison Church.

The longest yarn is a bit like a 21st Bayeux tapestry. It’s an 80m, 3D depiction of the events around D-day made entirely out of wool.

This display will only be in the UK at 2 or 3 locations before it goes off to America for the whole of 2025…..so we are absolutely thrilled to be able to host this display in Aldershot, “The home of the British army”.

Hosting this display will be a unique and wonderful opportunity for us as a garrison and local community to help people both remember, reflect and commemorate the events of June 1944.

Planning for this event is taking place now and further details will be forthcoming regarding how you can visit the display.

The display will arrive early in November in time for Remembrance and will remain with us for about 10 days.

Watch this space!

We wonder whether "your" Christmas Angel is somewhere among those that were knitted this morning?

Some of our lovely knitters are meeting this coming Saturday morning.

If you, or anyone you may know would like to come along and join this amazing team and been part of this fantastic community project do get in touch.

This could be you!!!!

Charlotte joined our team in 2020 and after a little "coaching" produced her first knitted angel.

Fast forward 4 years and this is what Charlotte is producing today.

These "2024 angels" are probably too precious to place around our community at Christmas so these particular angels will be going to a deserving cause elsewhere

Our wonderful knitters and crocheters are meeting up this coming Saturday morning.

If you have ever thought about joining the Rushmoor Christmas Angels team now may be a good time.

Please feel free to tag anyone you think may be interested.

Some of our lovely knitters will be meeting this coming Saturday morning to continue to knit angels for Christmas 2024. If you (or anyone you know) would like to come along and knit or crochet with us you would be more than welcome.

There will be people who would be very happy to help you along if you haven't picked up your knitting needles for a little while and feel a bit "rusty".

16/01/2024

Our lovely knitters are meeting this coming Saturday morning to begin (not that the keen ones haven't begun already) to knit angels for Christmas 2024.

If you or anyone you know would like to come along and, as the picture says "Join out team" please get in touch and will give you more info.

Since sending out a recent post inviting people to join the Rushmoor Christmas Angels team we have experienced a few tech issues.

If you have messaged us asking to join and we have not yet replied to you please do get in touch again.

Alternatively, if you have been meaning to ask to join the team.....now is your chance ;)

A PM will get the ball rolling.

We looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year to you all from everyone on the RCA team.

We are always on the look out for knitters (and crocheters) to join our team.

If you knit or crochet, or know someone who does and you would like to be part of this amazing community project do drop us a PM with an email address and we will be in touch.

It doesn't matter how many angels you produce, some of our team produce 5 angels each year but some of our more prolific knitters produce 400+ (Nope, we don't know how they do it either :) ).

We meet one Saturday morning a month 10am-12 midday (usually the 3rd Saturday) to knit and natter.

We also send out a monthly newsletter to keep our team members up to speed with how the project is developing during the year.

2024 will be our 10th anniversary year so we are aiming to make it our biggest and best year yet :)

31/12/2023

Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful New Year... from everyone in the "Rushmoor Christmas Angels" team 😇

After a very long flight Manoa has arrived in NZ ready for Christmas.

Hello everyone and welcome to Rushmoor Christmas angels 2023

If you have found one of our angels please do feel free to 1. Give your angel a name. 2. Post a picture of your angel (and its finder if you wish) on this page letting us know where your angel was found.

Over the past few years some people have told has that Facebook has not allowed them to share pictures of their angels on our page. We are not sure why this should be the case as we have checked all our FB settings and all settings are correct.

We suggest therefore that if you have found an angel you comment on this “Pinned” post and add your photo to your comment. That way we all get to see all the angels as they are found.

We will endeavour to monitor our page and do our very best to make sure all photos posted on our timeline get to be seen by everyone.

While you are here why not give the page a like and watch as all our angels are found.
