In the ebb and flow of conversations, discussions, lectures, talks and debates we sometimes lose track of the “Other” which is as much a part of JNU as the vigilant, progressive, decisively rebellious JNU. In the general clamour for political representation, rights, benefits, activism, and so on we sometimes give little heed to the other not-so-ideologically inclined, not-so-aggressive and not-so-
grave and not-the-revolution-bound JNU. The “Other” which lays in the mundane humdrum of ordinary life in a campus coupled with the excitements over erudite, scholarly or artistic achievements that illuminate the most formidable years in the life of an individual. The “Other” which lies beyond the rocks of PSR and the lazy winding roads of JNU that follow deep into the trammelled and untrodden paths into the wilderness. The stories behind everyday chores which do not end in the corridors of the hostel and the canteens of the Schools, but extend beyond through the people, staff, and members that make this our home away from home. JNU is a pluriverse—we have an inclusive, multifaceted, culturally rich and diverse campus. The beauty of our pluriverse is that each one of us has in its irreducible difference a uniquely individual and singular identity, beliefs, thought and expression, which cannot be subdued or subjected to any form of coercion. With so many worlds to explore, and so many dreams to connect, so many networks to build, and so much to accomplish, WE at The Informer are committed to creating spaces, locating gaps, forging ties, charting distances and building channels through a university
newspaper. As the years roll past and we welcome new members to our family, we hope that each member as a part of the team of The Informer, will continue to uphold the spirit of the university, and carry forward the traditions and the legacy of the newspaper for the generations yet to come.
द इन्फॉर्मर जेएनयू का प्रथम ऑनलाइन छात्र संचालित अख़बार है. इसका प्रारंभ अलग अलग अध्ययन केन्द्रों से जुड़े २५ छात्रों की छोटी सी पहल द्वारा हुआ, जब इन्होनें अपनी योग्यताओं व क्षमताओं का प्रयोग कैम्पस की घटनाओं का अभिलेखन तथा विश्लेषण करने के लिए किया. आज उसी पहल का परिणाम इसकी वेबसाइट (www.theinformerjnu.com) है जिसकी पहुँच १५००० से भी अधिक लोगों तक है. इस पत्र के माध्यम से जेएनयू के प्रति कैम्पस के अन्दर व बाहर एक नई दृष्टि उत्पन्न हुई है. लगभग एक वर्ष पुराने इस अख़बार की पहली रिपोर्ट इसके फेसबुक पेज (@theinformerjnu) पर १२ दिसम्बर २०१५ को प्रकाशित हुई जबकि इसकी अपनी वेबसाइट १५ फरवरी २०१६ से कार्यरत है. द इन्फॉर्मर का अपना संविधान है जो इस पत्र को न केवल स्वतंत्र, समावेशी एवं पक्षपात रहित लेखन का आधार देता है बल्कि, लेखन प्रक्रिया व लेखन सामग्री की उच्च गुणवत्ता के मानक भी निर्धारित करता है.पत्र के सुचारू सञ्चालन के लिए छात्रों का अपना संगठनात्मक ढांचा है जिसमें सभी छात्र अपनी रूचि व योग्यता के अनुसार योगदान देते हैं. इन्फॉर्मर का यही लोकतान्त्रिक वस्तुनिष्ठ स्वरुप, स्व नेतृत्व और स्व प्रोत्साहन इसकी खासियत है. द इन्फॉर्मर का उद्देश्य विभिन्न गुटों व पक्षों के मध्य वार्तालाप एवं संचार की खाई को पाटना तथा तटस्थ विद्यार्थियों को जागरूक करने के साथ साथ उनकी वैचारिक सहभागिता बढ़ाने हेतु अधिक से अधिक प्रोत्साहित करना है. यह अभिव्यक्ति के विभिन्न माध्यमों जैसे लेख, कविता, वीडियो, तस्वीर आदि का स्वतंत्र प्लेटफार्म है जिसके माध्यम से प्रासंगिक मुद्दों के प्रति पाठको को सूचित व जागरूक किया जाता है. यही वजह है की यह कैंपस व इसके बाहर भी निरंतर लोकप्रिय होता जा रहा है. चाहे २०१६ के चुनाव परिणामों का सर्वप्रथम प्रकाशन हो या फिर ‘जेएनयू तब और अब’ जैसे लेख इन्फॉर्मर टीम ने पूरी लगन और सक्रियता से जेएनयू के हर पक्ष को उभारा है. छात्रों का यह अपना अख़बार जो स्वतंत्र विचारधारा का द्योतक है, निरंतर हर पहलू व घटना से जुड़ने व सभी को जोड़ने में प्रयासरत है.
