Proper communication is essential for a job to run safely and effectively. When someone says, “communication”, most people think about speaking or even sending an email. There are a number of ways to communicate on a job site.

Here are some common tools for communicating a safety message:

1. Training is a way to communicate how to do a task and how to do it safely and is one of the first methods of communication used when preparing for a work task.

2. Job Safety Analysis is an important tool to communicate the steps of a job task, the associated hazards of each step, and the mitigation actions to be able to work safely.

3. Safety meetings or toolbox talks discussing work tasks and the associated hazards of the work are very important for work crews.

4. Labels are found on almost every piece of equipment, tool, and chemical in the workplace. Manufacturers put these labels on for a reason. They often relay some of the most important information regarding the hazards and safeguards of that product.

Legacy Restoration proudly supports many of the amazing clients that we have been blessed to work with over the years. 1. Protect yourself by wearing the proper attire and safety equipment. A hard hat and close-toed shoes are a must when on site.

2. Stay aware of your surroundings. Heavy machinery and falling materials are serious hazards in construction. It’s important to watch out for anything unusual and listen for any warnings.

3. Speak up if something feels off. The top priority of any construction company should be to maintain safe conditions. There is nothing wrong with double- or triple-checking that an object is secured before working on a project. If a company makes you feel bad for speaking up, it’s a major red flag.
