Proper communication is essential for a job to run safely and effectively. When someone says, “communication”, most people think about speaking or even sending an email. There are a number of ways to communicate on a job site.
Here are some common tools for communicating a safety message:
1. Training is a way to communicate how to do a task and how to do it safely and is one of the first methods of communication used when preparing for a work task.
2. Job Safety Analysis is an important tool to communicate the steps of a job task, the associated hazards of each step, and the mitigation actions to be able to work safely.
3. Safety meetings or toolbox talks discussing work tasks and the associated hazards of the work are very important for work crews.
4. Labels are found on almost every piece of equipment, tool, and chemical in the workplace. Manufacturers put these labels on for a reason. They often relay some of the most important information regarding the hazards and safeguards of that product.
Legacy R&R takes pride in not only being the best, but also bringing our best to every project. No matter the budget, we ensure that the highest quality materials are being used to ensure quality and the longevity of our construction. Due to shortages and high demands, this can mean that we source from various regions of the country to ensure we get the material we need on time.
We are also well versed on the the best materials to use for the job. For example, using composite decking vs. wood is best for the climate in southern Louisiana because its stronger, less susceptible to mold, requires less maintenance and is more durable. It also has a lifespan that is five times longer than wood. This material has an environmental benefit as more manufacturers are making composite decking with recycled materials.
Sourcing materials that will expand the life of our projects is part of our commitment to leaving a legacy of excellence with each and every project that we take on.
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Legacy Restoration values the benefit of pre-construction planning using LEAN Construction Management and Planning strategies; a method that reduces waste, maximizes efficiency, minimizes change orders and provides ultimate transparency. Planning is an integral part of our business from start to finish.

There are many moving parts— literally and figuratively— on a construction site. Be sure to follow these quick tips for staying safe when building:
1. Protect yourself by wearing the proper attire and safety equipment. A hard hat and close-toed shoes are a must when on site.
2. Stay aware of your surroundings. Heavy machinery and falling materials are serious hazards in construction. It’s important to watch out for anything unusual and listen for any warnings.
3. Speak up if something feels off. The top priority of any construction company should be to maintain safe conditions. There is nothing wrong with double- or triple-checking that an object is secured before working on a project. If a company makes you feel bad for speaking up, it’s a major red flag.
4. In addition to everyone’s safety and well-being, a clear plan is an essential part of every renovation project. A detailed record of the client’s goals and expectations ensures that all parties are on the same page. Visual aids are also extremely helpful in executing one’s dream renovation.
When finding a crew for your next remodel, it’s important to consider the core values of each company. Legacy Restoration & Referral ensures an inclusive, respectful environment for both consumers and employees. In addition to being family- and minority-owned, Legacy R&R has a special understanding of the needs of veterans and the disabled.
