Texas music, loud and proud. Jim Salter is a Texas Country/Red Dirt singer-songwriter. He recently recorded an acoustic EP that is available online.
Born in Irving, TX, Salter was raised in the Houston Area and started playing guitar as a teenager. While attending college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, he was introduced to the Texas Country scene and began playing in local bars. Very emotional decision to start this mural of my brother Charlie Robison. But I think it will in time help my heart understand that he lives on for me and so many others. His passing has made me realize what an enormous impact he made on Texas, Texas Music and the outlaw culture. And what better place to honor an outlaw, but here at the Devil’s Backbone Tavern.
This mural is being painted by world famous and artist Kerry Awn … who worked late into the night last night to capture the image from projection.

This is gonna be a ton of fun, friends. Y’all come out tomorrow night and help us celebrate our late brother. There’s sure to be a ton of laughs and probably our fair share of tears.
