Enchanted Wireworks
Unique, otherworldly wirework sculptures I took some of my initial inspiration from Robin Wright’s incredible Fantasy Wire Fairies and then began experimenting.
My journey into wirework began with an unexpected path several years ago during the lead up to a party I was giving at my home. I created papier-mache and wire netting figures and loved it so much I went on to decorate spaces at some big parties - the largest being the Mansion Halloween Ball in London 2019, with over 1000 guests. However, since then I decided I wanted to change direction slightly,
It was the funeral of a beloved family member yesterday and these were her flowers. Some are in vases around the house and others will be dried ❤️✨. 💐
I had a great time at my first fair last weekend-sold some figures and chatted to lots of people who were so lovely about my work 😁. I still have a few figures available in my shop and so am offering 15% discount with coupon code wintergifts23 - perfect for spreading a little more enchantment around ✨.
They are ready and waiting to go to the Christmas Fair on Saturday…a few more coming along too but I couldn’t fit them on the table 😂✨.
This is the first ‘Follow Me’ fairy I’ve done in a couple of years-she called to me!
Some items now in my shop. Link in bio ✨.
He’s not finished but I’ve had some fun this afternoon! The nest wasn’t my idea but I was inspired by Champagne Birds-there some great wire artists out there to learn from 😍✨.
Little bird completed today! ✨.
I’m running a bit behind with this new figure but hope to finish her tomorrow or Monday. She wants me to finish yesterday! I’m taking part in a Christmas Fair next month so do need to crack on! ✨.
She is very like a similar figure I made a while ago- Hope - but I have made her in bronze and given her wings. Another name may come, but Hope seems fitting for now ✨.
Samhain blessings to all. The veil is thinnest at this time so if we listen quietly and carefully, we may hear messages of wisdom and love from our ancestors and guides. It is surely a time for listening. ❤️✨.
Standing Yule Fairy is now in my shop 😊✨.
Another Yule Fairy made and ready to fly! Those who subscribe to my website should be receiving a special Winter offer email this evening! 😊✨.
Almost finished this Ava-size Yule Fairy, decorated with Holly & Ivy - she will be in the shop over the weekend. I know, I know, we’ve not had Halloween yet but I had the urge and when it’s there it’s there! 😁✨.
I’ve just made a little Holly and Ivy Yule fairy! She is a little smaller than the Ava size and I have wired in artificial Ivy for her skirt and miniature Ivy and Holly in her hair ✨. 🔮🌙
I was about to box this Helene up and noticed the dogs-couldn’t resist a photo! ✨.
Little bronze wire bird emerged today ✨.
Feels like I haven’t posted in ages. Various things have kept me from my wire working space but I’ve managed a few hours today to crack on with a Helene commission as a Christmas present. I love the Primrose print on the wall. It used to hang in my grandmother’s summerhouse and evokes some wonderful childhood memories 🙂✨.
I’ve had a very busy afternoon working on her…I had a bit of a struggle with her hair but in the end she wanted it like this. I was getting strong classic horror film vibes from her, so I hope you do too! By the way, my finger has improved so I don’t think it’s broken! 😁✨.
I broke my index finger yesterday….well, I think it’s broken but I’ll get X-ray on Monday and find out. What happened? 9 month old Labrador puppy Miss Honey Ripper, that’s what….or rather who! 😂 Anyway, I strapped the finger and have been able to work, albeit a bit slowly. Very relieved! ✨.
I think we have emerged! I’ve added a bit more wire and created her bouquet. A Dark Bride 💀✨. ❤
I’ve just had a mad hour working on a part finished ‘bride’. Some of you will know I’ve made larger sized Halloween Brides for the last few years-this year I decided to try a smaller one. I’ve wrapped her lower half in black tulle and given it the dramatic Morticia hem. I’ve then added a mix of black and gunmetal wire and a billowing tulle veil. She’s still ‘emerging’ but I like her! Not quite sure where she’ll guide me next but watch this space…..✨ 👻
It’s 4 years since I decorated the Tarot room for a massive London Halloween party - it’s so great to see they’re still using one of my figures in their promotions for this year ! 😁💀✨. 🎃 **se
I decided she needed her familiar..this is the third Raven I made, the others were just too big!✨.
Blue moon over Stonehenge 😍✨.
It’s almost September so you know what that means…..it’s nearly October!!! 💀😂. I have loved experimenting with this figure…I’ve filled in the hem more which you can see in the final two photos. She is made from stainless steel then sprayed black, but I have some black wire arriving tomorrow so watch this space ✨.
Two more additions to my online shop…Leaping Hare and a Bronze bird 😁…link in bio. 🎄
What a fun afternoon! I finished wiring her, gave her a Morticia skirt then sprayed her (and the garden table 😬) black! I’m definitely getting some black wire - thanks for the advice .green_wildwire - I’ll also get some coloured wire for possible alternative hairdos….maybe give the skirt hem more substance …ooh and now my brain is off and running! 😂✨.
Well, I had an urge to create a figure in a Morticia dress today! I decided to go down the mermaid structural path but then add ‘the hem’ at the end-I’ve no idea how I’ll make this yet, the chicken wire is just for this post. I think some of my Halloween vibes are starting to emerge - it is almost September after all! I may get some black wire and make a more exaggerated version…longer fingers for example. I’ll try and finish her tomorrow and see how she looks. Love the prototype stage 😁💀✨.
3 new figures to go in my online shop. Link in bio! ✨.
My play with bronze suddenly became a study in grief. My father died 13 years ago today and he has felt very present these last couple of days, heightened by the very sad news that Michael Parkinson had died. My parents and I would watch ‘Parky’ every week back in the 70’s and some of the interview clips really transported me back in time to my childhood days - incredibly evocative. I had been delighting in working with the bronze until this afternoon. I began to sink lower and lower into the gloom, trying in vain to create an uplifting, prancing figure. Eventually I just bent everything into ‘grief’ within 5 seconds. She’s not finished-perhaps she never will be, but she absolutely represents how I am feeling today about my darling father 😞❤️✨ 😔 ❤
I’ve just started a new figure using bronze wire for the first time and so far I’m loving how it looks! I had to lie on the grass for some of the photos and got attacked by the two ferocious animals featured 😂✨.
Just finished another commission ….well, aside from securing in …. happy days! I wonder if she will be homed indoors or out? 😁✨.
I’ve just finished some more birds and having a Friday glass of wine. Earlier I popped into the gp surgery and a little boy (about 4 years old) smiled, then came over and hugged me around my legs. ‘Mummy, I hugged that lady!’ Very random but rather lovely ❤️✨.
Just coming to the end of the last commission from South East Open Studios…I’ve been so happy to be asked to make so many things! Once this Etta is finished and secured in (probably tomorrow), I will make a couple of birds and also start a figure in bronze wire! Excited for that! ✨.
A very happy 65th birthday to one of my first female icons. I simply adored Kate Bush to the very depths of my being and wished I was as talented, beautiful and graceful. I’ve been called Calamity Jane a few times so graceful was always a bit of a hit and miss affair for me from the get go 😂 ✨.
