Day 2/365 of Builing a Business π¦
One of my illustrations for Summer collection. I was sad at first because I felt all the hard work was for nothing since I'll not be launching any collection.
But now I think we can take this creating part - colour selection, illustrations, pattern making etc - and make that part of my new business. Same work, different product!
And the good part for you is that I had zero knowledge or budget when I started. So if I can do it, so can you π«
Chapter 40 βοΈπβοΈ
Joehoee guys ππ½ Well, where to start!! I was SO convinced to be able to share my new collection with you soon. But I'm afraid that that's not going to happen....No manufacturer was able to give me transparent prices because they just don't know what to expect either. Cotton prices have gone up with 30% and energy bills are insane. And Winter hasn't even started yet.
I tried everything but the financial risk is just too high. Production process will take months and who knows what's going to happen during these unpredictable times? If my manufacturer needs to pull the plug during production process I'd lose my 50% downpayment + I would then also need to payback the downpayment of my stores. Which is lost in my downpayment to the manufacturer....well you get the picture.
For the past two weeks I've been quite sad over the idea that my temporarily break from ODP now seems to turn into a long term thing. Not sure if I'll stop forever but I'm not going to start either.
BUT eventhough my canvas for my illustrations is gone for now, my artistic bizz heart is not! I've done all the feel-good things a gal does when heartbroken and now I feel ready again to start.
I have an attic filled with previous collections to sell and untill I find (another) canvas I'll just keep on illustrating. Let's see where this is going to take us π¦

Early start of the day π‘
These past few months have been so crazy! I LOVE ODP but there are a lot of things in fashion I don't agree with. The negative became unintentionally focus, which made me navigate towards it more and more.
Last November I started to write my e-course for . I thought I just write down what I've been doing the past 15 years. Aaahhh a bit too optimistic ey...especially since this was actually the first time I ever put something down on paper.
It was intense but I've learned so much from it! I think my positive mindset and the 'I have never done it so I think I am able to do it' attitude has helped me a lot with my entrepreneurship so far. But to have your ideas and your values written out on paper is so surprisingly nice! Just to have it out of your head and to see your progress visualised in front of you. I think this keeps you focused and away from spiraling down the negative.
Now I have on paper why I've started doing what I do and what has driven me to keep on going all this time (swipe the pics for through the seasons).
I will upload the Journey Map, which is one of the assignments from my soon to be launched e-course, asap on my new site. You'll be able to download it for free, because I feel everyone can use a bit of positive vibes and stay focus on the good ππ

And back to normal also means early schoolruns and serious business doing!
At the end of the week I will upload all items I have found in my house π¬ Including some sold out items / sizes from previous seasons. Can't do any reservations guys, sawry!
Should I go back to larger collections or stickI with the small ones? Is it possible to create my own colour palette so that different collections go together as well? Would be twinning next level, non?
And do I still like the styles I carry? Do I need more stockists or less? What are my creative values? What do they contibute? Will it be enough for me? If not, what do I want instead?'
Questions, questions, questions....Redefining ODP is quite a process but bear with me peeps! I'm on the right track, I can feel it!! Stomach butterflies, fingerspitzengefΓΌhl and gut feeling included π¦π€π½π«

Noooooo.....guys! So my ΓΌber fluffy Teddy Cardigan will return this winter. But I just got message that the ordered quantity is too low for what I want. Just when I thought I was on top of my game! π
So we have to be quick and inventive!
How about a Teddy Cardigan for adults too? In a light colour just as the main fabric of the Birds (two posts back). With full length sleeves; this is a size 5-6 and I grew till I was at least 12 y/o. And maybe some cute buttons instead of snaps. It's sooooo fluffy girls, what do you think? βοΈπβοΈ
