Little Spring Moon - Why Wormy?

That's right! Tonight (March 25) is the Worm Micro Moon!

Sure, it’s got a catchy, “makes you wonder what their PR agent was thinking”, name … but what’s a moon phase got to do with permaculture?

The Worm part:

Naming the full moons was often a way to remember cyclical information about how we might interact with nature around us. Worm moon means: the worms are coming out to turn the compost of the winter to the soil of the spring. It means the ground is (or soon will be) soft enough for them to do so. So go dust off your shovels and bags of seeds, dear permaculture gardeners, nature is starting to grow, and so should you.

The Micro part:

This full moon is at its furthest point from Earth; it appears to be smaller. We know the phase of the moon affects animals - it’s unclear if this lessening of light from the micro moon has an effect. Go look and let us know! :D
