UPDATE:

Placed in NYC

PLACED as per ACC :)

*** His owner stated their favorite thing about Tea Cup was that he loves cuddles ***

How cute is this little guy?! Meet little Mini Schnauzer mix boy Tea Cup. Just 2 years old, a tiny 11 lbs, he was surrendered to Brooklyn ACC by his previous owners due to them not having time to care for him anymore. A fearful little guy, he will duck & hide from strangers, children & unfamiliar dogs, & has separation anxiety when left alone. Tea Cup would do best in an adult-only, small dog savvy home where his new pawarent is there most of the time. Maybe your house? Rescue-only due to his fearfulness, meaning you have to apply with rescues to FOSTER or ADOPT this adorable little fella. PLEASE, DO! Apply now to SAVE his LIFE!!!

For a New Family to Know:
When at home, Tea Cup has been described as a vocal, independent dog who likes to spend his time where people are. He only allows his owner to brush him and pulls moderate to hard on the leash. In his last home he did not go on walks. He is crate trained and does well for 8 hours, his crate was 24 x 17 dog crate with gate. Tea Cup knows the following cues: sit, lay down, get down, stop, no, come here, move, watch out. His owner stated their favorite thing about Tea Cup is that he loves cuddles. Tea Cup's favorite activity is play fighting with his owner.

Place with a New Hope partner: Due to Tea Cup's fearfulness and bite history, we recommend he is placed with one of our New Hope Partners. Potential challenges: Destructive behavior/Basic manners/poor impulse control/Handling/touch sensitivity/Fearful/potential for defensive aggression/Separation anxiety. Potential challenges comments: Destructive behavior: Tea Cup is reported to have destructive tendencies in the previous home. Tea Cup will need to be provided with physical and mental stimulation and with a variety of appropriate and engaging chew toys so he can engage in necessary chewing behavior without damage to human objects. Basic manners/poor impulse control: Tea Cup is reported to jump on his previous owners persistently. We recommend teaching "sit/stay" commands to help control his impulses. Fearful/potential for defensive aggression/Handling/touch sensitivity: Tea Cup has been intesnely fearful in care and has bitten was his face was being over-handled and is noted to grow/snap at the groomers. It should always be his choice to approach a new person or thing. Tea Cup would do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings. See handout on Decompression Period / Handling/touch sensitivity. Separation anxiety: Tea Cup is reported to be destructive in the home and anxious when left alone. We recommend that potential adopters feel comfortable with separation anxiety behaviors and prepared to manage and positively modify them should they appear in a home environment. He would do best in a home where a person is at home for a large part of the day or with a plan so he is not alone for long periods of time. See handout on Separation Anxiety.

Tea Cup was surrendered to the BACC by his previous owners due to them not having time to care for him anymore. Tea Cup is noted to have several behavior concerns and a bite history. His previous owners state that generally Tea Cup is a shy, fearful dog that prefers to interact on his own terms. Tea Cup will growl when new stranger approach him and will duck and hide away from children and unfamiliar dogs. Tea Cup is also noted to have destructive tendencies in the home and described to have separation anxiety when the owners were not in the house. Tea Cup does have a bite history, the owners daughter was bitten once due to her playfulness and waving her hands in Tea Cup's face. Tea Cup bit, released, and retreated. In care, Tea Cup has been intensely fearful, hyper-vigilant and avoids any form of interaction from staff and hides behind objects/staff. Just because a dog is not on the ACC site does NOT necessarily mean safe. There are many reasons for this like a hold or a behavior evaluation has not been conducted yet or the dog is rescue-only... the list goes on... Please, do share these pups as well until their threads are updated with their most current status. Thank you for caring! ♥

We have more dogs pulled from the NYC shelter saved! If you are looking for something particular in a dog please reach out and we can line them up for you!

08/12/2023

This guy right here is 1.5 years old he's such a sweetheart! Has a gentle soul as you can see in his eyes. He really needs a home with another doggo or two he's so playful! His favorite game is steal the toy and be chased! We have done so much work on his mouthing with humans and he has come leaps and bounds. He probably wouldn't be well suited in a home with young or hyperactive kids. He can get overly stimulated easily. He does fantastic with older kids. Loves attention. He's trying to patiently wait for his new family.

Please share help this beautiful boy find his couch for life. Applications can be placed at

A day in the life of saving a dog off the AT RISK LIST:

No matter how much you interview someone, they will lie and tell you what you want to hear and thus, putting a dog's life in jeopardy AGAIN.

This woman fills out an application saying she wants to foster this dog on the ARL. She picks out a dog that she wants and I interview her in depth and she says she has the experience and has worked with dogs with these behaviors. I ask her where she saw the dog and she said both MUST LOVE DOGS AND DOGS LIVES MATTER and she worked with the advocates.

So I then ask her has she read all about the dog and we go over EVERYTHING.

She gets the dog AND FREAKS THE F*CK OUT. She saying the dog is larger than she expected (but she did say she read EVERYTHING about the dog) and for the first THREE DAYS SHE IS CRYING. HYSTERICALLY CRYING. She then goes on FB on a thread saying how she is all alone (REALLY) and it's not working out.

Every foster gets my support and we send a booklet, decompression notes etc. We arm everyone with all this info. Plus I am always there to walk you through things.

I am literally talking her off the ledge SEVERAL TIMES. I then get help of Kim Yengel and her friend / trainer Crystal. Crystal goes out there and spends two hours with her. The dog is not aggressive but has these mouthy behaviors coupled with bad manners that we would like to correct but this woman is not giving us or the dog a chance because she wants the dog OUT.

Both Kim and Crystal say this dog just never had been taught manners and consistency is key. She's also terrified going into the room where he is because he charges her. He DOESN'T CHARGE HER, but comes at her because he wants to play. She is now terrified of him and wants the dog OUT.

I did get a call from the local shelter where she is saying that they got a call, an EMERGENCY CALL saying she was afraid of the dog that she's afraid of the dog. She keeps on saying the dog is too big.

Little did I know, she "forgot" to tell me that she's going away and has to board the dog.

DO NOT SAVE A DOG OFF DEATH ROW IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT IN YOU TO GO THE DISTANCE.

Now we are scrambling to find a new foster for this dog which is virtually impossible when people have moved on to other dogs.

People like you should stay away from dogs.

We now need a new foster for Arcade.

Please help him.
