In 2004 Ghana introduced a new system to protect elephants, and ever since poaching has been on the decline. Ghana is setting an example for other countries on the African continent.
Still there is a lot of trade in ivory, and China, who up until now has allowed trade with ivory, is estimated to handle 70 % of the worlds ivory trade.
So it is really good news that China is banning the trade with ivory!
