Clean tumbling must be built into a tumbler’s mindset. No one expects a new tumbler or a tumbler learning a new skill to have it already perfect, but every progression should get easier with the proper mindset added onto every skill. The way a tumbler starts & ends every skill and every tumbling pass, the effort put into doing each part the way that works best, and the ability to consistently apply corrections so mistakes don’t repeat all show a tumbler that thinks & trains to be a winner. To be ready for any moment you must train for every moment. Awesome job Julia!

Connecting back handsprings is the next step once a tumbler learns their back handspring. A tumbler should look at back handsprings like a link in a chain, and it can be combined with other skills before and after. Working on ending back handsprings with an intentional sit that can start the next back handspring, training no swing back handsprings, and attempting other connections like cartwheel & back walkover back handsprings can improve the learning process while building the other new skills similarly. The flow that is built from learning connections is needed both for better standing tumbling and achieving harder tumbling passes. Awesome job Dani!

Competition is a part of every tumbler. Competing against other tumblers for new skills & spots. Competing against other teams for competitions & championships. And most of all competing against ourselves for improvement & progression. Every time training, warming up, walking through, and actually competing is a chance to get better and show people what we got and what we’re made of. We compete to bring out the best in ourselves. Amazing work Emma!

Upper body strength is a very neglected part of a tumbler’s training. The amount of people who want to do 10 back handsprings but can’t do 10 body weight push-ups is staggering. Understanding the actions necessary for success will help tumblers prioritize what type of training to focus on. As much as mentally learning proper tumbling technique is powerful, so is building the body’s ability to handle & execute that technique physically, without resistance or difficulty. Sometimes what you don’t want to train is the exact thing you should train. Amazing work Gaby!
