For those who are able to join us, Mr. Leahy and I are planning to hold our first google meet tomorrow, 3/20, at 10:30 a.m. Students will receive an email to join our call, so they should check their email in the morning. We're looking forward to "seeing" them as we've missed the students greatly.
If your 6th grader hasn't already done so, please have them join a google classroom that Mr. Leahy and I created that is titled "At-Home Leahy/McAdoo Classroom." We will be using this newly created google classroom during this time of distance learning. Thank you for your continued support during this transition. Be well.

Today students filled out their possible reading plans for vacation. They were told to bring these home for you to see (they are copied on purple paper, making them easier to spot). I am attaching a link to the document that the students received today, as it does include a letter to families. Thank you for encouraging your child to read over vacation.

Happy Friday!
I wanted to let all families know that 6th grade students now have an additional piece of literacy homework. Today they received a packet of reading response questions (for both fiction and nonfiction), and they are to choose from these questions and write 2 responses between today and next Friday. We will follow the same schedule as the math homework where it's given on a Friday and due the following Friday. Students are expected to write with quality and to be thoughtful with their responses. These are weekly assignments and will be noted as such in PowerSchool Learning. As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Enjoy the beautiful weekend ahead.
Best,
Carrie
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your evening to attend our Open House. It was wonderful to see you all.
Reading homework for your 6th grader begins this week. Students are expected to read at least 15-20 minutes a night, Monday through Thursday, and they are to record their time on their reading log. They have their reading log in their home/school folder. Students also know that they are to get an adult's initials each night. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Hello Families,
I hope that you've all enjoyed your weekend. The students have been thoroughly enjoying the Starbase activities, and perhaps the one that they are most looking forward to is launching their rocket. Our rocket launch will take place this Tuesday afternoon, weather permitting, around 1:15. We would like to invite you to join us for the launch, which will occur on the upper soccer fields. We would also like to remind you all that our Open House is this Wednesday, from 6:00-7:00 (k-4 is from 5:30-6:30). We look forward to seeing you!
Best,
Carrie
Good morning,
Information went home today about student's first homework assignment. Homework for the year will follow the structure that is described in their packet. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions that you have. I went over it briefly with students today and will go over it in more detail on Monday. I am excited to give students a chance to practice important skills, build responsibility and to have choice as well.
Have a great weekend,
Kevin
Good evening to you! We just wanted to remind everyone that we're going on our field trip to Starbase tomorrow. Students will need a lunch (unless they ordered one through the cafeteria), a drink, and good walking shoes. Phones are requested to either stay locked up at school or at home for the trip. We are looking forward to a great day together.
We hope that you're enjoying this last day of summer break. Tomorrow your child will be bringing home a folder, and inside are many forms that need to be filled out as soon as you can. Some of the forms are time sensitive, especially those for Starbase as we do have a field trip scheduled for September 5th. At the end of last year it was mentioned that your child will need a pair of earbuds that will stay at school. We wanted to reiterate the importance of this, as students will be required to participate in daily literacy and math online programs. Finally, students in 6 McAdoo have PE tomorrow, Wednesday, therefore it would be a good idea to have proper footwear. We look forward to seeing your child tomorrow.
As the new school year is rapidly approaching, and in case you missed seeing the document back in June, we're attaching the letter that we sent out prior to the school year ending. It includes a few recommended school supplies. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask any questions that you might have. We're looking forward to another wonderful year with this group of children. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FAnn_gJDGE9BfUDOxoMtn-vAiXg7OUVTTNuK8snXZ1k/edit

Wishing you all a pleasant and safe summer! We hope that there are some adventures in your future, and we look forward to hearing all about them. Thank you for a wonderful year, and we are so excited to spend another year with your now 6th grader. Be well!
