for just an existence or survival and remained deprived of higher education. The society in 1992 took decision confirming its object to start a degree college with an introduction of B.Com. alias Tatyasaheb Khare an eminent social activist, businessman and visionary was the core person behind the decision of opening a degree college. Under his able leadership and telescopic vision, the society proposed a plan to acquire a piece of land and construction independent building for senior college. Tatyasaheb Khare the then barman and founder of the college floated “Building Fund Committee” and “alumni committee” for the purpose. In 1993, the society purchased 7 acres of land on hill side of Guhagar. Unfortunately, the society suffered severe blow of sea and untimely demise of G.B. He died on July 24, 1993. The commerce college has been named ‘G.B. Khare College as a tribute and sense of attitude. PARVATIBAI GURUPAD DHERE COLLEGE OF ARTS
Taking inspiration from forefathers of the society and their commitment towards education, the society started Arts College since 1998. The society also felt necessity of intensive campaign for building fund donation collection. While implementing intensive collection campaign, Dhere family originating from Guhagar and permanent resident of USA, approached the society and expressed their interest of donating sizable amount for Arts College in proposed new building. Thereafter, the Arts College was named as ‘Parvatibai Gurupad Dhere College of Arts. This was in fact, an acknowledgement of overseas recognition of society’s educational work. The Arts College is also fully aided by the government. SCIENCE FACULTY
Recognizing the need of degree level science education in the region the college has stared B.Sc. IT degree courses affiliated to University of Mumbai, from the academic year 2010-11.
