How diet impact dental care?
Case: A 30 years old citizen from a small town countryside in South America, Information Technology employee, non smoker, no alcohol consumption history, with personal and familial history of allergies, went to dentist for a routine dental care. Surprisingly, presented a non stop bleeding having worried the experient dental care professional who called immediately the family to report the situation. It was not asked about coagulation disorders and supposed it was no mentioned in the anamnesis and evaluation of past patient history as well as adverse events.

Behavior nutrition, primary care and prevention can trigger significant difference in health and disease outcomes. In such a setting, primary dental infection shouldn't be disregarded. Likewise:
Intravenous illicit drug use, Immunocompromised individuals, Use of prosthetic valves or intracardiac devices, Indwelling intravascular catheters use, End stage renal disease or hemodialysis, Rheumatic hurdles such as lupus and other diseases can trigger heart hurdles such as endocarditis (an inner heart wall disease due to an infectious or non infectious agent). Main infectious agents are Staphylococcus sp, Staphylococcus sp, also fungi and others including listeria ). Their nasty damages should be acknowledged.
For dental cases, in rare occasions bacteria found in tooth plaques growth on the surface and surrounding areas leading to gum inflammation, redness and swelliwing, causing collagen damage, blood vessels disruption and bleeding. Then, those infectious bacterial agents travel to other parts of the body through blood vessels reaching also the heart wall such as the inner cardiac layer known as endocardium and their surrounding areas as the heart valves.
They can cause vegetations, a groub of bacteria, agglomeration or emboli. More common in males than females, it can cause fever, heart valve injury, septic emboli, red spots into the eyes, glomerulonephritis, besides cutaneous lesions such as osler nodes (skin spots due to immune complex deposition) and Janeway skin lesions. Endocarditis can be fatal!
Despite of all technology and innovation centers, primary care can impact disease outcomes.
Startups in innovation and technology can spike audiences and grab many entrepreneurs attention, but knowledge and information on the reality of many citizens in terms of basic nutrition, sanitation, infrastructure, physical and mental health is paramount. The situation can be worrisome across the globe including developed and underserved regions.
In this context, primary care is essential considering prevention, budget outcomes and multiple healthcare professionals intervention.
