In love with the new authentic Cambodian restaurant in town. We really enjoyed the unique flavors and the presentation. We love to see Southeast Asian dishes represented in a fine dining experience.
The fish curry noodle was aromatic like a lighter Thai green curry that we're familiar with but with different vegetable condiments. The appetizers, egg rolls and skewer beef, were comforting but with a twist. The pork stew with bamboo had a deep sugary umami flavor perfect as a side dish with rice. Lastly, the taro dessert was like a stuffed roti with mashed taro fried to perfection and topped with shreded coconut ice cream. Thumbs up! π

We felt like we were whisked away to a French or Viennese coffee shop instead of being at the heart of Chicago downtown. Today, we enjoyed fine afternoon tea with tea leaves sourced from the French tea house Mariage Freres and a luxurious Burdick's cookie with large chunks of chocolate fudge. Relaxed and unwinded in a classic old world cafe vibe with a quaint courtyard view! βπͺ
Planning your weekend date night yet? Here is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the Chicago downtown area, Torchio Pasta Bar . Cozy and intimate vibes, the delicious Italian pastas taste fresh and well seasoned! This place is a winner for us because there's a good selection of vegetable forward dishes that we can complement with the heavier dishes like their amazing sauteed broccoli rabe and salads! ππ·
πΈ Burrata & Pesto, Arugula Salad, Broccoli Rabe, Crab Pasta, Tiramisu
πHidden gems are often found among hole in the wall places. This underground Chicago Chinatown food court has the most unique incubating Asian street food scene. Got 2 vendors in the spotlight and they were excellent in both taste and price! Best place to beat inflation! ππΉππ

Is there a more poetics way to serve fried chicken than with a branch of maple sticking out from a mountain of fried chicken.
Jenny and Gus Izakaya dinning series wouldn't be completely without the signature Tatsuta-age fried chickenπ. This bite size sake-soy marinade fried chicken is sure to impressed .
It's a balance between beverages and food at . Innovative beverage menu including drinks beyond creative cocktails. This time we also explored the spirit free drinks and cafe drinks. We enhanced the experience with small plates and loved the Truffle Milk Toast. Plus the service is top notch especially at the bar seats. How do you get the bar seats? Show up for a walk-in right at the opening time. Otherwise, good luck trying to get a reservation!

πCozy Italian restaurant by the same people who brought Gilt Bar. Really small seating place so be sure to book ahead. We got lucky coming in at the opening hours so we got to sit at the first come first serve window facing bar seats. Personally, we love this seating more than the dining area because of its less noisy ambiance and also a casual stool for comfortable easy in and easy out dining experience. Plus, the service by our waitress was excellent! π

Happy Veterans Day! Thank you to those who served for the country! Here we're featuring Thai Noodle Soup with ingredients that can be found in the Thai Pantry Box from . Gus made a 10 out of 10 noodle soup for our work lunch and I just can't get enough of it. Also I just got some diningware shipment from Bali, Indonesia so I played with the products a little bit which I'll be professionally photographing soon for Pandan Market product launch. Look at the beautiful rattan placemat and straw raffia coasters! For those who love to stage food and decorate the dining table, don't miss this newly curated collection from me on Pandan Market!
First time practice making "katsu-sando" π₯ͺ (pork cutlets sandwich) and egg salad sandwich.
A good first trial, but the quest to find the perfect bread for sando continue π.
π₯πΎ The perfect date and a change of pace, we enjoyed the Peninsula Hotel's Afternoon Tea with tunes reminiscence of Bridgetown soundtrack. The Lobby restaurant is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy graceful service during the weekend. I believe, they just re-launched the afternoon tea service and the theme was Breast Cancer Awareness so some of the components of the tea set were in pink to commemorate. There are 2 seatings at 2:30pm and 4:30pm available during the weekends. The tables weren't filled and we were able to easily reserve a week prior. Hotels have been hit pretty hard for the past year so please do come back and support our hospitality industry!
Checking out a new spot in the neighborhood! This time we venture to Central Asia to try some "Plov" rice and "Lagman" noodle at
Definitely a must try for Chicago foodies and don't forget to order a slice of honey cake to complete your meal. π― π°
We received a care package from Gus's mom, all the way from Thailand! The nam prik πΆοΈ from .house is best enjoyed with hot steamy Jasmine rice. π Nam prik is basically a chili paste or chili mixture. Typically eaten with steamed rice or veggie dips. πΈ Here is a fish based nam prik which has all the aromatics such as garlic, kaffir lime, and basil. The dried nam prik is almost like Japanese and the flavors are concentrated and packs a punch!
Ex*****on and detail were just on point! Might I say this place is a promising Michelin star restaurant! Happy to have waited an hour for this unforgettable experience and glad that we're coming back in 2 weeks!

Japanese Sukiyaki and Sashimi at Jenny and Gus's. We went all out and popped open a bottle of sake that we hauled back from Kanazawa, Japan. What's the occasion? Just celebrating the weekend! Ganpai!
