You can’t say you didn’t know now.

Countless stories, posts and highlights are all there waiting for you to confront the mirror. The only barrier is you and your bias and r•c:sm.

I’ve learnt that people only change as much as they want to. Just because people are unwilling to confront the mirror doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be held accountable for their ignorance. It is a choice to remain in it.

If someone’s l:berat:•n bothers you, you probably benefit from their oppr•ss:on and I couldn’t care less if you do so consciously or not. Your impact precedes your intentions (Dec•I•n:sation 101). Those who instinctively defended lsntr•eI on ANY level (talking both my b•th sides like Chanel era and my r:ght to seIf defencers 👋🏼) did so because they refused to challenge the status quo because they benefit from it. They don’t want to acknowledge that their pr:v:Iege is granted by stealing it from others because if they did, they’d take up the responsibilty of redistributing it or risk being seen as a bad person.

“But I’m just not poI:t:caI” simply means that the human rights you care about are only your own. You only work to protect your comfort and pr:v:Iege. Your selfishness has nowhere to hide.

Educate yourself and act. We don’t have time to keep pandering to your lies. There are more important fights to be had right now that the one between you and your ego.

I’m tired.
I don’t think I’m allowed to say that.

The guilt of bearing witness from the safety of this compI:c:t country is so incredibly heavy.

But I’m grateful for my rage.
I’m so thankful that I have a heart that bleeds for others.

It doesn’t mean I’m not selfish.
It doesn’t mean that I’m not still compI:c:t.
It just means that I do value all life and I will not turn away when others are senselessly sI•ughtered because of the colour of their skin, their proximity to resources and existence on land.

Ignorance might be bliss for you but that doesn’t disguise that it’s imm•raI in this instance. I’m tired of having to explain oppr•ss:•n after being forced to live a life where I’ve been asked to prove it to not avail.

You had your chance to wake up during BLM. Live-streamed gen•c:de should really be the final straw.

Educate yourselves. It is a m•raI obligation.

Once you know better, do better. If people are proving they are not interested in doing better after being given the opportunity to, please don’t enable their behaviour by normalising it and acting like it’s ok.

If it’s ok for you that’s because pr:v:Iege protects you from the consequences. It won’t forever.

This lie, this neoIiberaI lie of moving towards collect:vism through startling ind:vidualism and navel gazing has just blown me away. And I feel like that took over the entire dec•l•nial movement. I feel like it’s in every every act:v:st movement. Too many poets, not enough s•ldiers, you know?

Anything other than Iove shown through acti•n is an excuse. Ultimately it always comes down to what are you willing to s•crifice in the pursuit of jvstice?

Does your s•lidarity extend to consistent and continuous action? Does that action require more of you than your less pr:v:leged counterparts? Are you really doing enough - or are you just doing more than you have in the past? Once the social pressure and visibility declines, will you still show up for those who need you to continue challenging the status quo and inequ•lity? Is your pr:v:lege purposeful or is it still serving you first and foremost?

Don’t be an ally, be an acc•mplice. You most likely have the least to lose by acting.
