Crystal Palace FC was finally given the approval by Croydon Council in the last week for the redevelopment of its main stand when the planning application was rubber-stamped to overcome the final hurdle for new and enhanced facilities at Selhurst Park.

Once completed, the glass-fronted Main Stand – reminiscent of the original Crystal Palace – will be a landmark building which will hold 13,500 fans.

The Main Stand was originally built 100 years ago and currently holds 5,200.

The total capacity of Selhurst Park will rise from 25,486 to more than 34,000.

The new building will have three tiers of seating, as well as improved access for supporters with disabilities, a new club shop, museum and café.

The plans for the Selhurst Park stadium were first submitted in 2018, but experienced delays owing to the pandemic and the club focusing on delivering its academy upgrade.

The construction of the new stand will look to be built around the existing structure, to keep the stadium fully operational throughout the build.

A manhunt is underway in Spain for an assailant who stabbed an 11-year-old boy to death on Sunday while he played football with his friends.

A reconciliation between the two parties took place during an extraordinary meeting held the day before yesterday in front of the "Casa Milan," where they put the past behind them and celebrated the return of the "Rossoneri" to the European stage once again.

The conflict between Paolo Maldini and the ultras dates back to 1996 during a match between AC Milan and Norwegian club Rosenborg and continued until the UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul in 2005.

Maldini, even during his playing days, was known for ignoring the ultras and attacking them, as he considered them a negative phenomenon that discouraged children from attending matches. He even called on the Italian

Football Federation to ban them from stadiums altogether, which angered the ultras in Italy, particularly the "Curva Sud Milano."

The Milan ultras have repeatedly stated that they respect Paolo Maldini as a player and appreciate his significant history with AC Milan, but their issue was with the person, not the player.

During Maldini's farewell match in 2009 at the San Siro stadium, the fans raised banners reading "Grazie Capitano" ("Thank you, Captain"), but in the same match, the Curva Sud Milano also unfurled a giant banner with the number 6 and the name of AC Milan legend Franco Baresi, chanting "Un Capitano C'è Solo Un Capitano" ("We have only one captain"), which embarrassed Maldini during his farewell ceremony and was a significant blow to the Milan legend.

After years of tension, the historic reconciliation took place in front of Casa Milan, putting an end to the famous conflict between the two sides.

During the fans' celebration of their team's return to the Champions League, Maldini, now AC Milan's technical director, met with the ultras, thanked them for their support of the team, and promised to open a new chapter where everyone would unite in supporting Milan, aiming to restore the club to its former European glory.

- Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan is suing HSBC over a £47 million loan that resulted in a £5 million loss. Jordan alleges that HSBC Private Bank, which has been his banker since 2009, pressured his investment company, Pendragon Investment Holdings, to invest in the HSBC GIF Global Credit Floating Rate bond fund, marketed as ‘low risk’.
