Baseball Coach of the Year: James Wood's Adrian Pullen For a program that had been to the state championship game in 2022 and to the Class 4 semifinals, the start to this baseball season looked a little foreign.

Area Briefs: Wood's Copenhaver to play baseball for Penn State Mont Alto James Wood High School baseball player John Copenhaver announced last week that he will play for Penn State Mont Alto in college.

Deuce Strosnider will be signing his letter of intent tonight to play baseball at Emory & Henry College. Please join us at 7:00 in the James Wood High School auditorium to celebrate Deuce. Hope to see you there!
James Wood falls in in extra innings to Tuscarora in baseball quarterfinals LEESBURG β Coach Adrian Pullen had a smile on his face.
Wood loses in the VHSL Quarterfinal to Tuscarora 4-3 in 8 innings.
Parker Kerns went 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and 2 walks. Logan Bower takes the loss in relief allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and struck out 1.
Offensively, Wood was led by Deuce Strosnider 2-2, double, run, RBI, stolen base, walk and a hit by pitch. Kemper Omps 2-4, 2 runs, 3 stolen bases. Brock Whipkey 2-4, double, RBI.
Tonightβs loss ended the Colonels 3rd straight VHSL state title run and they finish the season with a 14-10 record. Congrats to our young men on another great season.

Some housekeeping notes for tomorrowβs Region Championship game at Blacksburg High School. First pitch is set for 5:00 and they accept cash only at the gate. Food and drink is permissible as there will be no concessions. The facility is isolated with limited seating and porta-potty restrooms. It is recommended that spectators bring folding chairs. Access to the facility is through the main campus entrance (3401 Bruin Lane). The ticket booth will open at 4:00.

Wood beats Charlottsville 3-0 in Region 4 North Semi-Final.
Brock Whipkey gets the win going 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 0 runs, 3 walks, & 6 strikeouts.
Logan Bower earned the save going 1 inning, 0 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 1.
Offensively, Deuce Strosnider went 1-2, double, Sac Fly, 2 RBI.
