During a recent Learning & Development workshop, Kendra Waldbusser, Head of Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Live Operations, presented on Trusting Yourself & Building Confidence at work. Kendra provided team members with great advice on how to improve confidence, trust your own abilities and how to make effective decisions.

Recently, our corporate headquarters hosted our annual picnic for team members and their families. A delicious meal was provided and many fun activities including face painting, a bounce house, a rock-climbing wall and more were set up for families to enjoy!

Our Elberton, GA, facility recently recognized Makayla Belcher as their 2024 Pilgrim’s Tomorrow Fund scholarship recipient. The Pilgrim’s Tomorrow Fund scholarship will allow Makayla to attend college completely free of charge. Congratulations, Makayla!

To celebrate 4th of July, our Sumter, SC, facility hosted a popcorn bar for all employees. Great idea, Sumter!

Congratulations to Mt. Pleasant, TX, team members Quentin Coffey, Roger Browning Jr., Daniel Tucker and Tyrone Webberson for receiving Heroic Acts of Bravery awards from Mt. Pleasant Mayor Tracy Craig. These four team members noticed a structure fire near the Mt. Pleasant Pilgrim’s facility and not only saved a man from the structure that was on fire, but also alerted neighbors to the fire and got them to safety. Great work Quentin, Roger, Daniel and Tyrone!

Mayor extends awards to four local Pilgrim’s workers turned heroes On the morning of Tuesday, April 18, a warm summer air drifted across the parking lot of the Pilgrim’s Hiring Center as Mount Pleasant Mayor Tracy Craig stood with four gentlemen to award them for their heroic acts of bravery.

Our Mayfield, KY, facility recently held a family fun day for team members and their families. A meal and fun activities were provided, including bounce houses and a petting zoo. Looks like a blast, Mayfield!

Our Douglas, GA, facility recently sponsored the Georgia Young Farmers summer tour that was held in Douglas-Coffee County. Live Accounting Manager, Michael Corbin, attended the tour and gave our Pilgrim’s swag to the over 300 attendees. Great work, Douglas!

Congratulations to Gloree Balance on being one of the recipients of our Pilgrim’s Tomorrow Fund scholarship. The Pilgrim’s Tomorrow Fund scholarship allows Gloree to attend Florida Gateway College to pursue her nursing degree completely free of charge.

Brandon Armwood, DVM, Director of Vet Services, recently had the opportunity to speak at USPOULTRY’s 2024 Poultry Processor Workshop. Congratulations to Alexis Schmidt on obtaining her elementary education degree through the Pilgrim’s program! Alexis attended college for free after being awarded a full ride scholarship from our Cold Spring, MN, location.

When asked the benefit of receiving this scholarship, Alexis stated, “The Tomorrow Fund scholarship was truly transformative for my college career. As a recipient of this scholarship, I was not only relieved of the financial burden of tuition but also empowered to fully immerse myself in the college experience. With the Tomorrow Fund scholarship, I was able to make the most of my college years, not only academically but also personally and socially. It paved the way for me to explore new opportunities, develop important skills, and build lifelong relationships that will continue to impact my life long after graduation.”

On Memorial Day, we honor the sacrifices made by United States service members to keep our nation free.

In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, our Arcadia, WI, team helped complete a new home for one of their team members in Trempealeau County. Pilgrim’s was the main sponsor for the home and provided a life-changing opportunity for team member Marcelina Jose.

May is . We offer our team members and their families a variety of ways to improve their mental and behavioral wellbeing with unlimited access to licensed behavioral health professionals.

Our corporate headquarters held a plant sale fundraiser for United Way Weld County where we raised over $14,000. Team members had the opportunity to purchase flowers and vegetables, and all proceeds went to United Way. Great work team!

Our Pittsburg, TX, team recently volunteered at the Pittsburg Handicap-able Rodeo. Local school districts bring handicap-able students to participate this event where they are able to ride a horse, learn to rope, meet rodeo clowns and go on a hay ride. This year, there were approximately 200 student participants.
Team Pittsburg set up a booth at the event where they handed out promo items, provided bottled water and had a horseshoe game for attendees. Great job, team Pittsburg!

Congratulations to the Management Trainee class of 2023-2024 on graduating from the management trainee program. These young professionals now hold various positions across the company, and we are excited to see all their positive accomplishments!

Our Broadway, VA, location recently participated in an Adopt a Highway event where they worked together with members of their community to clean up local highways. Great work team Broadway!

To celebrate “Bring Your Kid to Work Day,” we hosted 45 kiddos at our corporate headquarters in Greeley, CO. Participants took a virtual tour of our Italian meats facility, taste tested Pilgrim’s chicken, heard from JBS USA CEO Wesley Batista Filho and participated in several fun activities throughout the day!

Our Waco, TX, team is proud to announce that Lonnie Lang, RMI Lead, has been chosen as the 2024 Waco Superstar. Lonnie was chosen by coworkers and managers for his hard work and ex*****on of the company values. Congratulations, Lonnie!

Last week, 175 members of our Supervisor Development Program, visited Colorado for three full days of leadership development and supervisor training sessions. These supervisors work in a variety of roles across many different US locations. Supervisors attending this event included both recently hired and established team members.

At the end of the program all participants graduated from the Supervisor Development Program and are now equipped with skills to help them succeed in their role as a supervisor.

Our team in Marshville, NC, recently sponsored a golf tournament put on by the Monroe-Union Breakfast Rotary Club. The Rotary Club was able to raise over $20,000 from the tournament. The funds raised from the golf tournament are used to sponsor scholarship opportunities for local high school seniors. Golfing for team Marshville this year was Forest Hills High School golf.

Pilgrim's was proud to host 30 American Meat Science Association (AMSA) students as part of the JBS Global Ingenuity STEP (Student Training and Education Program), April 4-6, at our headquarters in Greeley, CO. The students traveled from the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and India to develop a loaded nugget and compete in the program. The teams of students not only created the product but also developed a business plan, marketing plan, packaging, nutrition labels and a sales/promotion plan. The winning team will be announced at the AMSA Reciprocal Meat Conference June 15-19, where samples of the winning product will be served. The winning team will also have their product brought to life, and it will potentially be sold in stores as a Pilgrim’s product.
AMSA and JBS have a great partnership and hope to continue building opportunities in the future. Currently, JBS and AMSA host the National Western Stock Show Meat Judging Contest, they put on the JBS Global Ingenuity STEP Program, and they provide students involved in the meat industry several different financial and educational opportunities throughout the year. Marcia Reeves, Head of Research and Development for Pilgrim's stated, “The partnership between JBS and AMSA is vital to our organization because the student members that are involved in AMSA while attending college graduate and become great employees for us. We have many previous student and active professional AMSA members currently employed with JBS and Pilgrim’s through internships, trainee programs as well as full-time roles.”

Proud of our team at our Broadway, Va., facility for volunteering and donating to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. They were able to help feed 148 families in the Broadway community!
