Elections 2024 - Independents join race for council seats Quartet hoping for Dudley Council seats say neither big party understands local issues as well as community activists
Brilliant meeting the new Kingswinford Neighbourhood police team Sgnt Mike MEREDITH and PC Coral Sivill.
Many residents have contacted me to raise concerns about anti-social behaviour, car thefts, and speeding issues.
I was very pleased to hear these issues form part of the Sgnts priorities.
I advised the Sgnt that residents want to see the following improvements;
Priority given to car thefts and burglaries Bring back school Police officers, Build more community links by introducing more Community Speedwatch And ensure our parks are protected.
Speaking with those who have had their car burgled, they are keen we do their part to ensure our vehicles are safe.
Steering lock and trackers can help reduce this crime.
Sgnt Mike Meredith from the Kingswinford Neighbourhood police team has also assured me they will increase their presence in the village.
Along with Cassie Gray, Brian Bassingthwaighte, and Adam Waldron , we are committed to supporting residents, and this is why one of the pledges is to tackle crime. To make this happen, it's important to have a strong working relationship with our local police and residents. As we can tackle crime!
If you see something that needs to be dealt with or if you require further information, please email [email protected]
I would encourage you all to always report crime via 999 or non emergency on 101.
If you have additional information or any concerns, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Official Statement
I’m a charity campaigner with a great passion for my local community and served as a councillor from 2021 to 2023. During my service, I was able to support several local ventures and set up many groups that have brought people together, such as the Wall Heath TSF Kuppa Club, Kingswinford & Wall Heath Litter Pick Group, and the TSF Youth Club.
As someone who has been involved with both Labour and Conservatives, when it comes to local council, there isn’t much difference between the two. The major political parties are obliged to put a candidate in every seat, regardless of a person's credibility, and with little regard as to whether they are from the area. As a result, they have remained detached from the heart of our community, and I often hear many people saying “We don’t know who our councillor is?” Or “We never see our councillor! We only see them during election time!”
We want to change that and bring in community ambassadors who are visible in our local area and approachable to all our residents. It’s only when we are immersed in the community and interact with our local businesses and groups that we can truly listen and understand the real concerns in our community. It should be the community giving their views to their councillor to make policy and not the other way round, where the party enforces their view on residents.
Community over politics, that is what we believe in. That is where we will see real change. We also believe that it is vital to include the views of our youngsters. After all, it is their future we are shaping, and it’s important to have their involvement. During my time as a councillor I’ve had many youngsters apply for work experience with me, and working alongside them was a very positive change and a great insight to their own views on improving our community.
Now, it's time that we vote for the person who will serve our community instead of the big political groups who have failed or simply forgotten about us. This is why I am honoured to welcome and introduce our one community, Independent candidates:
Joining me representing Kingswinford North and Wall Heath is Cassie Gray from TSF Youth Group and representing Kingswinford South are Brian Bassingthwaighte from the Kingswinford Christian Centre and Adam Waldron from Ska boys boxing academy.
Over the next few weeks, we will announce our pledges on why you should vote for us, but perhaps more importantly, it's about listening and delivering on your priorities.
We pledge to be accountable, available, and visible to our community 365 days a year!
Elections take place on 2nd May 2024, Vote One Community, Vote Independent!
I can't be the only one fed up with the crater-sized potholes on Balfour Road! Dodging these road hazards has become a daily Olympic sport🤣but it's not exactly fun when your car's alignment pays the price. It's about time the local council did something about it before we all need off-road vehicles just to navigate our own street. Anyone else notice the deterioration of the roads recently?
This morning I joined community ambassadors Brian Bassingthwaighte and Adam Waldron to discuss concerns raised by residents about the Draft Dudley Local Plan.
A consultation is now taking place on the Dudley's Draft Local Plan and proposed site allocations for the borough. The council is asking for your opinions on policies used to help determine planning applications and also on where new development sites for housing and employment could be built up to the year 2041. The consultation is now live and will close at 5pm on 22 December 2023.
Dudley council intend to build 650 houses in Ketley Quarry. As someone who campaigned against building on our Greenbelt, I welcome the councils decision to build on brownfield sites first.
However to build 650 houses in one area, with 100% of them not being affordable, is not the way!
Our area, infrastructure and services simply can not cope with this.
Natalie Turner, who has been campaigning against this from day one, said it best, "The council seem to think Kingswinford should take the bulk of the areas development needs - this is unfair and will not solve the housing issues. These aren't going to be affordable homes, there are no new schools or doctors planned or promised. It's just greed. Please object. Yes to houses, no to the scale of what is planned."
Brian will be organising local consultation sessions, but please view the below link and take part in the consultation;
