Dear Interns, Residents, and Fellows,
I want to personally take a moment to say “thank you” for all you do every day to take care of our very deserving patients.
You are indeed the front line of care, along with our nursing and other medical staff in our major teaching sites. You inspire us, your faculty, daily with your commitment to our mission to put patients first while we remain invested in your personal and professional growth.
I and so many others will never forget your care during the unprecedented time of the COVID Pandemic. As we move ahead in this age of the “new normal,” we will continue to look to you to help us on this journey! I want you to know that I and some of your faculty have also struggled at times during the last two years of the Pandemic.
Of all days, on National Doctors Day, we need to pause and ensure we are dedicated to one another as “Brothers and Sisters Keepers.” I was saddened to hear from a trainee who had spent a number of years with us they were not aware of our wealth of resources to guide our trainees. Please take the opportunity to visit our Work-Life Wellness Page today.
Finally, I hope you are aware of our House Staff Council. They are your advocates before the University and our major hospitals. Please consider becoming involved if not already. Our responsibility as advocates for the profession and our patients begins now.
Happy
Sincerely, Scott

From us to you. Enjoy your time with your family or family of choice!
Everything we do in our relationships adds to our emotional piggy bank. If we wash the dishes, buy a gift, or spend quality time together, it all adds to our relationships' positive regard and feelings. Likewise, if we play mind games or have trust issues, they act like withdrawals from our emotional piggy bank. Be aware of what you put in or take out of your piggy bank.
We want to take a moment to thank the men and women who offered themselves in military service. We also want to thank this small sampling of those in our GME who continue that service in a different capacity. Thank you!
The joys of life can be found in the simple things such as - a walk in the park, socializing with friends, watching a good movie, helping someone or completing a goal can invoke peace in us by releasing happiness chemicals. Take on one chemical at a time!!
