Just released a short cut of T.O.Y
💥 PLEASE help me share & get my message out there. We depict a young boy’s emotional responses to scenarios in his life & what effect they have on his state of mind & in turn his behaviour…
Using the creative language of costume, dance, spoken word, music & sound we tell a fictional story of a young person who ends up using a knife.
Intended to raise awareness about a variety of issues affecting young people with a focus on the vulnerability & innocence of youth.
As a society we need to do more to help the most vulnerable in our communities. If a child feels their life is not valued then how are they expected to value anyone else’s life… 🖤
“When darkness covers the home from young, there’s a thin line between having loads of fun & being groomed”

To The T brings you T.O.Y
The Other Youth is a short film intended to raise awareness about youth violence. It's dark aesthetic & fusion of artistic disciplines makes it a unique language to communicate on this subject. T.O.Y tells the story of a young black male, growing up in Brent, we sympathetically look at his emotional responses to certain key moments in his life, all at the hands of the adults around him. We hope this film will help highlight the need for more support and nudge the adults in society with power who do not do enough to help young vulnerable people in our London Community.
Youth violence is a real issue and deserves more attention and in this creative film, we use a unique language to shine a light on this topic and evoke an emotion that might compel a positive reaction in people.

Last of the ash for Phoenix photo shoot. I used real ash & shot from above to create the look that she’s rising up out the ashes...as Phoenix’s tend to do 😁

‘Phoenix’ album cover! It was really cool to receive a cd with all the artwork from the photo shoot. Liking seeing the old school cd cover, remembering my youth & how I used to love buying a new albums, opening them up checking out the artwork & lyrics etc. Changed a bit since then 😁 Think there might be vinyl produced for this album too.

Last pic from Not Another Youth project. I like my costumes to do more than clothe the dancer, I create them to help tell the story & add another dimension to the performance. This one I threaded thousands of threads into the back of a tracksuit. To depict a stabbing one of the dancers ripped the threads out of it, the colour life & energy lies limp in the floor.

This is the name of the piece I created in Quamari’s name. The words ‘not another youth’ come from a song that Quamari wrote & sung, the song was about youth violence & about what happened to him. He was a young wise old soul as those who knew him say & is evident in the words of his song. This was the only words in my piece, his words. 🎤🖤

Anger
Where there is anger, there is always pain
I threaded thousands of loose threads into the back of a tracksuit, during the dance they were pulled out to depict a stabbing. The life & colour being torn out, the fluid movement of the threads ending up limp & lifeless on the ground. I use costumes to help tell the story & integrate with the choreo
This image depicts the emotionally explosive experience of rage.
Capturing the essence of Quamari I created this outfit by threading thousands of threads into the back of a tracksuit. Using red yellow & green to represent his love of reggae & Jamaican roots. These threads represent the colour & vibrancy of his character & the life ❤️💛💚
This image depicts the perpetrator’s character, what must he be going through to commit such a horrific act of violence? At such a young age.

I created this outfit using bits of elastic which changed in each scene, finally with it binding him with his hands behind his back. Image from Not Another Youth, a piece of hip hop dance theatre which tells the story of what happened to Quamari 🖤❤️💛💚
As a tribute to Quamari I created Not Another Youth (Quamari’s words) a piece of hip hop dance theatre & a film which told the story of what happened to him in a creative way. I wanted to do something for his family & friends to keep his name alive & inspire the youth to choose a more creative path. R.I.E.P Quamari ❤️💛💚
Our story
I believe in creativity, not only does it enrich your soul but can help express emotion and evoke a human response like nothing else can.
It can also give an incredible sense of community when you share creations whether artistically, musically, lyrically or more practically.
I want to use many creative mediums to communicate a message of positivity and to inspire and empower people to unite and so we can behave in a kind and helpful way towards each other.
I studied art & design, fashion and then many random jobs including care work, volunteer work in West Africa, charity fund raising, catering & several roles fashion. I have spent the last 10 years looking after my 3 beautiful boys and I am now venturing out onto a creative path..destination unknown.
I must have been a Rasta in a past life as I have a beautiful love & passion for reggae music, love getting playlists together & DJ (to myself) for the love.... next gig headlining my front room!
My ambition at the moment is to create dance shows, design costumes, fuse music, fashion, digital images & dance to give you a fully immersive experience.
I’m currently working on a short dance piece about knife crime. This is my first ever dance show! A tragic experience I was involved in resulted in a 15 year old boy loosing his life, this has inspired me to design this show in his memory, to celebrate who he was and to raise awareness. I will be showcasing it an event organised by the father of the boy who lost his life.
I believe in peace, love, equality, community & creativity being at the heart of all of us
ONE LOVE
