Elect Chuck Bretanus for State Representative HD 36
Tried to delete page. Unsuccessful. TRADITIONAL VALUES
Our nation was founded on conservative principles that are enduring. I am a hunter, a gun owner.
As Christians, it is our responsibility to stand up for our beliefs and our values. I will always defend religious freedom, traditional marriage between one man and one woman and the sanctity of life. PRIORITY INITIATIVES
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
I am committed to providing a facilitative environment in which to relocate and/or expand commercial and industrial enterprise in Osage County. To accomplis
h this goal, we need to create an economic development platform consisting of the following elements:
• A transparent development review process
• Creation of a cultural, social and technological climate that fosters a creative class live-work lifestyle
• City leadership focused on private-public partnerships
• Strong relationships with the our State Universities that foster collaborative economic and entrepreneurial development
• Provision of state and local incentives where applicable
These components collectively work to create a set of economic conditions that foster commercial and industrial development and growth while at the same time preserving the county and cities unique and attractive quality of life. Economic development in Osage and North Tulsa County has also eluded many low-income people. We have to re-think how we build our cities and towns to achieve better economic opportunities. VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS
I personally live in a rural area in Osage County and depend on the volunteer fire departments for the safety of my home and property. Over 70% of fire fighters in Oklahoma are volunteers and I will fight to maintain the $400.00 tax credit for all our volunteer fire fighters. In addition I will also oppose cutting the $4000.00 grant monies available for the volunteer fire departments
EDUCATION
I firmly believe in more local control for public schools. The federal government has no business creating education standards, and I strongly oppose Common Core. The local school boards, parents, teachers and administrators have the best interests of our children at heart, and nobody wants to see their own children succeed more than the local community. Children should have access to the best education with the most up-to-date textbooks and technology. ADDITIONAL INITIATIVES
VETERAN AFFAIRS
Veterans need our support in the timely processing of their claims and in meeting their health care needs, including PTSD treatment. Those returning home from the wars of today – Iraq and Afghanistan – also need good employment opportunities. The veterans from today’s wars are often Reservists and National Guardsmen and women who drop their civilian lives to go serve their country for a year or often more. Sometimes it is very difficult to come back to the same economic situation they had before deployment. OKLAHOMA NATIVE AMERICANS
Tribes across the state are working hard to build their economies, protect their natural resources and improve the lives of their citizens. Native American tribes are sovereign entities whose laws and customs must be respected at both the federal and state level.
. ENERGY
I personally have made my career in the energy industry. America is rich in natural resources, but the federal government makes it difficult and expensive to tap into these resources. Instead, we are beholden to countries that don’t always have America’s best interests in mind. I believe the government needs to get out of the way and allow us to access and use these natural resources to make America more energy independent while keeping energy costs down. SPENDING & DEBT
I know a few things about getting out of debt and balancing a budget, because I have had to do that with my own company. It’s a completely different story in Oklahoma City. Our state debt is out of control, and it grows by the minute. Over the years, career politicians have demonstrated they are unwilling to reign in state spending because they are afraid to upset one voting block or another. We need more businessmen in state congress, not more politicians. TAX REFORM
Oklahoma needs a tax code that is fair, easy to understand and one that encourages savings. There is absolutely no reason our tax code should be so complex that we can’t even understand it. Of course, that’s what you get when government bureaucrats write the tax code instead of business owners and people with real-world experience. AGRICULTURE
Unlike many Members of the House, I have ranched in Oklahoma. The constant flow of rules and regulations make farming in Oklahoma costly and difficult for many family farms. Common sense, tax reforms and regulatory reform will help bring more stability to the states agriculture sector. IMMIGRATION
It is critical that the immigration laws already on the books are enforced, not ignored for political reasons. SECOND AMMENDMENT
Our Constitutional right to own and carry a gun must always be protected. I have consistently supported the right to protect the rights of gun owners, sportsmen and collectors, and I always will. I don’t believe in the open carry side arms for anyone without permits and proper training.
