Grassroots activism at the intersection of incarceration, health and ecology.
FORT WORTH!!!!! Shutting down the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony 🇵🇸🎉 If you're from Fort Worth you'll know how unprecedented this s**t is. Go follow .tarrant
Police abuse against protestors must be challenged, especially in the rural counties of North Florida where we protest the prisons that harm our communities.
Police think they can act with impunity in these remote, often racist, areas. We have to show them that they can't.
Props to Florida Prisoner Solidarity for following through on the fight against the state's corrupt prison system and the police who prop it up.
S/o to .tarrant disrupting business as usual at Elbit Systems US Headquarters this week!!! Follow and organizing the campaign to Elbit is the largest Israeli weapons supplier.
Proposing to build a new federal prison in Letcher County, Kentucky is not just a local issue!! BOP Policy is to try to house incarcerated people within 500 miles from their homes. If you live in the red, your friends, family and neighbors will be impacted by this prison if it’s built! Please repost! "The City of San Pablo plans to build a $43 million police training center and shooting range for cops around the Bay Area. The people of San Pablo and the Bay Area oppose this expansion of police power because of cops long history of harassing, abusing, incarcerating, and killing Black and Brown people.
Show up and march with us against the construction. We need healthy communities not police! Together we can stop Cop Campus!"

Slavery never ended! Shoutout to Millions for Prisoners New Mexico for having the FTP Crew come out to The People's Juneteenth to talk abolition and revolution with the community. Together we brought our comrades inside the walls into the space with us! The organizing and political work coming out of ABQ is 🔥🔥🔥and we'll definitely be back!
It’s Juneteenth, celebrating the end of slavery in the United States. But the racism that allowed slavery continues to plague the country in other forms, as evidenced by policing, poverty and pollution all harming Black communities at much higher rates.
These three social ills are hitting all at once in Atlanta’s plan to spend millions in public money harming the South River and Weelaunee Forest by building Cop City in a predominantly Black neighborhood that doesn’t want it.
During the George Floyd uprisings of 2020 — a watershed moment in America’s reckoning with its systematic racism — we pledged to act in the face of white supremacy. Fighting injustice and oppression has been at the core of the Center's work for more than three decades.
As the Center’s Jean Su wrote, “We have no choice but transformation. And this country hungers for — and deserves — a deeply radical one.”

Aye one of the hommies is in desperate need of funds !! He is in Tarrant County Jail and needs money before being transfered. We are trying to raise 350 dollars before he's transfered and we're half way there!! If you have the means please help us reach our goal or also share on your socials.
This case of extremely toxic jail conditions that killed LaShawn Thompson occurred in the Atlanta area, in one of the same jails where Weelaunee forest defenders and solidarity activists are being held. It further illustrates the need for connections between environmental justice and prison abolition movements.
Demand Justice for LaShawn Thomspon Tell Fulton County Sheriff Labat to take immediate steps to reduce Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail population and mandate immediate changes to address inhumane conditions and widespread neglect.
AYYY!!! Are you around Florida? Come learn about the layering intersections of climate chaos and abolitionist politics and organizing across the prison walls! In this workshop we’ll hear from inside voices who’ve ran successful campaigns to fight climate destroying industries and simply survive environmentally destructive conditions. We’ll be joined by friends the Florida Immigrant Coalition who will explore the impacts of climate change upon immigrant populations and immigration itself, including the state’s increasingly criminalized response to this. Our comrades at Mutual Aid Disaster Relief will also join us to explore the logistical challenges and philosophical foundations of building infrastructure to meet the needs of the people during these disasters form a place of solidarity and not charity.

Happening now in ATL, all week long. You coming?!
You coming?!
Happening in Atlanta all week.
This article on Defend the Atlanta Forest efforts and escalating repression and violence against ecological defense notes that since the massive outpouring of anti-pipeline resistance near Standing Rock in 2016/2017, "20 states have enacted laws that impose harsh penalties for impeding “critical infrastructure”, such as making trespass a felony offense, or have brought in vaguely defined domestic terrorism laws that have been used to target environmentalists and Indigenous communities."
Overall, 45 states have considered similar legislation restricting protests, and seven currently have laws pending.

Last week a phosphate mining company announced it was backing out of its plan for mining in Bradford and Union Counties, which would have been next door to the Florida prison near Lake Butler, poisoning people, land and water.

Hey yall! We work with a badass Black abolitionist organizer in Vermont named Kahlia who’s helping build a campaign to stop new prison construction there. A couple weeks ago her parents apartment suffered a devastating fire, the SECOND one in their life. They are physically okay but lost everything. Any help boosting their Go Fund Me is much appreciated!
Love & Solidarity,
The FTP Crew

Kentuckians deserve better than prisons. They have harmed too many people and too much of the earth while failing over and over again to bring about the economic development we’re always promised. The BOP would have that continue on a former strip mine that would poison the prisoners and further destabilize the land already impacted by floods and landslides. Help prevent federal prison construction in Appalachia by submitting a public comment by November 30. Link in bio. bit.ly/BuildHomesNotPrisons
Thanks to folks who were able to attend this hearing, live or via Zoom, about the BOP plan (pushed by Hal Rogers) to revive prison construction in Letcher County. Join us for the resistance 2.0.

BOP meets with community members and local leaders in Letcher County, gathers feedback for proposed federal correctional facility Local leaders and folks in the community came out to make their voices heard regarding the Federal Bureau of Prisons' proposal to build a federal correctional facility in Letcher County.
As you may recall, from 2015 - 2019 we were in touch often about the fight to stop the construction of a new federal prison in the Appalachian coalfields of East KY. We stopped it... but now its back on the table. Details in the article below.
What you can do: There is a Zoom link for the first BOP meeting on "FCI Letcher" TOMORROW, Nov 17, 6pm:
https://wspusa.zoom.us/j/89605575889?pwd=RkZzUGhiMDdrYyt3M1IyVFJNcFZxQT09
Please join it promptly at 6pm and include a note of opposition in your zoom name. (You do this by scrolling over your account in the meeting, click the 3 dots and select "rename.")
Even if you can't stay to make public comment, being logged in will display the broad opposition that is still mobilized against prison building and for environmental justice.
We fought long and hard, with a strong coalition built of local and nationwide opposition from inside and outside the prison walls, and won a major victory when the BOP withdrew it's plan. They did so in direct response to a lawsuit we filed, indicating that they both did not inform the people most affected about the plan and they did not prove they had a real need for the 500+ million dollar plan which would impact the health of prisoners and the surrounding environment, including endangered species.
Seems like Rep. Hal Rogers and his contractor buddies started planning to revive this thing the day after devastating floods hit Letcher County this year, attempting to take advantage of desperation that follows a disaster of that magnitude.
On Nov. 17 they will host the first public hearing for the new plan. They haven't announced a preferred site location yet, but it's likely they will try to pick up where they left off in Roxana, next door to both the endangered species habitat of Lilley Cornett Woods and a massive coal waste sludge pond on the other side.
The BOP will also be collecting written comments until Nov 30.
Thanks for joining this fight once again.
Hopefully a strong showing off the bat will be able to end it quickly.
