Hey guys.. couldn’t quite believe that I’m reactivating this account here because the last time I posted was in 2017.. and it started when I became a Pescatarian albeit for only a month in Ramadhan 2016.
How it started was because I just felt the strong sense of affection and compassion towards animals which we commonly regard them as edible.. as our day to day food.
I’m a Muslim so that makes it more debatable when it comes to this topic.. and yes in Eid 2016 everybody around me, friends and family kept “pushing” me to simply eat all the delicious Raya food — which of course are typically animal-based especially my favourite Rendang.
To make things more complicated, I am Asian, Malaysian, Malay, a Minang to be specific where my ancestors from my Mother’s side originated from West Sumatera, Indonesia. I love spicy & savoury food, and being a Minang, we eat literally every part and organ of a cow, so it kinda makes me like being a Texan who’s trying not to eat meat you get me?
I especially LOVE LOVE LOVE Chicken, Beef & especially Lamb.. I love my Fried Chicken, Satay and Marinated Lamb.. yet.. the calling always bugs me from time to time.
Last time when I was Pesca, I still chose to consume Fish & Seafood because my mindset believes that I somehow need animal nutrients & the tasty animal flavour. Yet this time around, I wanna go easier on myself, with the support of my friend Ica who has been Vegan for a year when she studied in Ireland before.
We both are incredibly compassionate towards animals, both on the same footing that all sentient beings deserve not be harmed, at the same time we struggle cos we love our meaty food a little too much. 😅
So we are starting with Meatless Mondays. Ica has been convincing me for months haha! Tadi hampir tewas ya.. hampir nak masak Daging Harimau Menangis sebab malas.. but alhamdulillah I took some time and very little effort to cook Kentang & Terung Goreng Berlada (Chili Fried Potato & Brinjal).
I cooked them only with Chili, Shallots, Garlic and Onion without adding Dry Shrimp nor Anchovies for extra flavouring. Well, makan panas apa-apa pun sedap. It’s definitely not healthy, it is oily and high in carbs, but it is definitely in accordance to my conscience and I need to eat something delicious to start with.
So yeah Meatless Mondays first inshAllah. I still will have Milk with my Cereal for dinner, so that’ll be Lacto-Vegetarian at least. I am FAR from being a Vegan, but I’m taking small steps by starting with Plant Based food at least on Mondays and we shall see where that’ll take me.

Just gonna update bit by bit of the food I have eaten and cooked in Ramadhan.
This was when I had buka puasa at my colleague's place after work.
I bought Nasi Goreng Kerabu which is one of my fav type of Fried Rice.
Kerabu basically is Kelantanese and it means Salad, therefore Kerabu is the Malay version of salad.
As usual I asked for Vege only in my Fried Rice & Noodles.
Topped with Fried Egg which is the usual combo for Fried Rice.
And yes I had 3 slices of Papaya actually since my friend doesn't eat Papayas.
Always, always start by eating fruits first then the heavier course.
Yes it's Ovo-Vegetarian because I include Egg here otherwise it would be Pure Vegetarian.

Moroccan Spa kind of day with my Mother here this afternoon.
My first time here, Ummi usually went with Deena before.
Ummi was attended by Orang Morocco tulen.
Suraya dapat Orang Myanmar, ok fine. 😌
Best body scrub ever I almost scream because I'm ticklish! 😅
Walked out of the hammam feeling like I have a brand new, clean shell on. 🐚
I must be disciplined to go to the spa for body scrub once a month for clean, gorgeous skin.
Nothing like someone else scrubbing off the dirt on your body, since we can't reach all areas with our hands really by self scrubbing.
And yes monthly Brazilian Waxing too, I like to keep the lawn clean. 🙊
But sayang they didn't apply body lotion after towel drying, otherwise it would feel so so much softer and moisturized. ✨
Felt like a Cleopatra today! 👸🏻
It is incredibly pampering to have someone else wash your body and hair. ❤️

Last 2 days when I went to the spa and raya shopping with my Mother.
This Somerset Bay's Denim skirt (I used to wear tonnes of Somerset Bay when I was in high school) was one of my favourite pieces I wore after SPM (18 years old).
I even remember wearing it to the driving school. 😊
After years of gaining weight, letting go of myself, living an unhealthy and inactive lifestyle,
I couldn't fit into it anymore.
Couple of months ago,
It couldn't even pass over my thighs.
Faham tak nak naik atas peha pun tak lepas ye kawan-kawan. 😑
However syukur for Ramadhan 2017, I continued Running with total of 50++ KM.
Also initiated my Pescetarian/Pescatarian Diet where I no longer eat chickens (which are mostly hormone injected), birds as well as Red Meat due to love for animals.
My new diet helps my body to become leaner faster than usual,
Alhamdulillah in this Ramadhan alone I have lost 5 KG.
So I am happy that I now can slip on this skirt. 💃💃
I will share my total weight loss since my heaviest in my future post.
However due to tonnes of cardio workout and much lesser strength training, my butt is smaller now and I like to have quite a substantial size of it so I have to do more squats and lunges.
I too have to work on my lower ab and yes I target by mid 2018 inshAllah I am gonna get goodlooking abs. 🙏
I started to commit to a healthier lifestyle because I just wanted a happier me,
Now that I am so much happier, I commit to work for my sexiest body ever. 👙
My target is as the same with my fitness crazy friends -- is only to look hot naked.
I am incredibly happy to see my reflection in the mirror now, but I know I can always look so much better.
Nothing is impossible,
We just have to be disciplined, be consistent, be committed in our hard work and be patient waiting for the results.

Just because I keep getting compliments that I have lost weight alhamdulillah,
Especially people would say my face is slimmer now.
That would be the first thing people make a remark whenever they meet me.
So I guess it would be fun just to compare the Old Me with the New Me.

You know which Suraya looks healthier and younger.
When the skin is healthier, only minimal makeup is essential.
My advice?
Just commit to an hour of any workout you like daily or the least once in 3 days.
Even without a self suffering diet. 💆🏻
It is probably the most natural and best way to detox all the toxins in our bodies,
Resulting to a more youthful us since detoxification is anti-ageing.
Seriously, you will attain the natural glow (besides from having a good heart 😊).
When I was 25, people guessed I was older.
Now I am actually 31, people guess I am 25 or 26 since I have lost weight and my skin is healthier alhamdulillah. ☺️🙏
Dieting is seasonal.
Exercising is a lifestyle.
So just exercise guys!

Alhamdulillah,
I am so utterly grateful that I managed to run again with better mileage after 9 days of not running.
Due to my monthly cycle, I experienced stomach cramps which didn't allow me to run at all, though I haven't experienced it for a long time.
However it feels not so bad because my week was packed with activities, but never a day where I don't miss running.
It is the most liberating thing I can actually do.
Makes my body and soul feel so, so free.
Though tonight I didn't hit my 10 KM daily target for June 2017, but it was a really good, happy run, alhamdulillah.
I am incredibly happy.

Actually I have snapped the food photos for the past few days, I just haven't posted them yet.
But here I just wanna share how grateful I am when people are acknowledging my new diet.
When I came for iftar tonight, my aunt she pointed out to me, that since I don't consume chicken now (there was fried chicken) but there was Fish for me.
It was a simple gesture, but I truly appreciate it, alhamdulillah thank you.

While waiting at the Car Wash, I've ordered this hot soupy bowl for supper.
Nowadays I would order at the common Tom Yum stalls in KL by requesting the kitchen to omit chicken or beef in my dish and to have vege only and sometimes with seafood.
Which they would ask twice for confirmation, which Deena said "Yong poyo." when I said it feels so good. 😝
I asked for Rice Vermicelli in Vege Soup topped with Poached Egg and warm plain water.
Yes it's Ovo-Vegetarian because I include Egg here otherwise it would be Pure Vegetarian.

It's a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to initiate eating a meal by consuming fruits first.
It is beneficial for the digestion system by not giving it a shock and makes digestion easier,
It is a source of vitamins, fibre and natural sugar.
It is also a tip for anti-ageing to consume fruits before eating heavier food.

What I had for Buka Puasa yesterday.
For you non-Muslims Buka Puasa is Iftar or Fast Breaking for the Muslims especially in the month of Ramadhan.
The dish here is Laksam or Lakse originated from Kelantan and Terengganu, in the East Coast of the Malaysian Peninsula.
I bought it at a Ramadhan Bazaar and luckily I found this for my pescatarian diet, because surprisingly we Muslim Malays apparently eat tonnes of chicken, beef and lamb.
As for Laksam, it is not exactly Vegetarian because the gravy is fish-based so it's Pescatarian.
I am not so much of a Kelantanese dish fan but I appreciate Laksam.
It is creamy and I love the crunchy vege in it which adds texture to it.
Laksam has 4 elements - the Flat Noodle made from Rice Flour & Wheat Flour, Gravy, Ulam (Vege) and the Sambal (chili paste).
The Sambal in this one is hot which creates a contrast to the milky, coconut taste.

Alhamdulillah completed another 6 KM to complete my 10 KM daily mileage target.
July 2017 demands me for a 10 KM daily target which I try my absolute best to commit.
For me Ramadhan is not an excuse for us to omit our physical routine,
But still, I am not one of those people who can workout right before Iftar, because trust me I drink a lot of water daily.
Minimum 3 liters would be finished just for my running session which means everyday I drink more.
I can't emphasize more on the importance of drinking lots of plain water everyday,
It is one of the easiest ways to lose weight,
And detoxifies through sweat and urine which makes our skin healthier, clearer and more youthful looking as well.
But for those who have difficulty to drink water, just squeeze one to two drops of lemon juice in it.
Please really take care of ourselves regardless of how busy our schedules are.
My Running session is my absolute Me Time which I don't usually share with anyone else.
There are days when I feel lazy, but I push myself because I know it would be rewarding and I won't regret it afterwards.
I don't want to let myself go, ever again inshAllah.

Mainly to share Pescatarian, Vegetarian & Vegan meals and recipes I have sampled and discovered which I find as interesting and delicious. 😋☺️
Yes, since I really, really want all of us to live a healthier lifestyle,
Make exercising as part of the daily diet, I mean if we have to eat everyday, why can't we workout everyday right as a gesture of self love and self care?

🐠 PESCA TO VEGAN LIFESTYLE 🌿
Part 1/2
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,
Alhamdulillah I have opened a new ig account
specifically to promote a healthier lifestyle. 😊🙏❤️
I have been receiving numerous signs from the Universe since months ago -- to initiate a stronger effort for a more spiritually-based role on this gorgeous Planet Earth. 🌎
Since I have received the epiphany to reject meat consumption in my diet recently,
Due to the fact that I'm starting to feel a stronger connection, love and compassion towards animals,
Therefore I think it just defies logic for me to claim I love them but still kill and eat them.
I am a Muslim first and foremost, and I am not against anybody who eat them, I don't mind to cook and serve them as well, because it is not forbidden in my religion.
However this is just a personal choice which I am very, incredibly happy for my conscience to implement this.
As for now I am not a Vegetarian, far from being a Vegan because I still love my Dairy products,
But at least I am a Pescatarian -- which I eat mostly plant-based products, refusing meat such as beef, lamb and poultry such as chickens and birds, but I still consume fish, shellfish and other seafood. Eggs as well as milk and cheese.
I am totally fine not eating meat other than fish although originally I was a person who literally would die to eat chickens and disliked fish.
I cannot foresee whether I'm gonna be a vegetarian someday or worse to eat meat again, but I take this according to my own pace naturally as how my body and soul feel.
Now I don't crave eating chicken nor beef, instead I start to feel nauseas thinking of eating a dead chicken or cow now. I actually vomited the last time I ate sausages.
That was the starting point for me to consider this spiritual journey more seriously.
