In some ways, parenting has gotten worse; in other ways, it has gotten better. Parallel to the drops in the use of corporal punishment, juvenile violent crime rates have been dropping. This is also happening in many other countries. This is why we "must" put a stop to corporal punishment. A lot of people need to let that sink in!! ... The unwanted behavior we are witnessing today has nothing to do with the drops in corporal punishment, as many have been led to believe... it is the lack of behavior-related disciplinary actions being real-to-life consequences.
