Making wonder-filled homeschool approachable and attainable. Life-giving Home Education
In the midst of our busy homeschool days, it’s easy to lose sight of the beauty around us. But when we dare to bring God’s goodness into our everyday moments, we invite joy, peace, and gratitude into our hearts and homes. 🌿
Want to dive deeper into beauty, encouragement, and inspiration for homeschool moms?
Comment BEAUTY and I’ll send you a link to my favorite books (including my favorites by Sally Clarkson .clarkson ), podcasts, and blogs for the homeschool mama. 💛
This is what homeschooling is all about—cherishing the simple joys and building a meaningful life together. 💛
What’s your favorite homeschooling luxury? Drop it in the comments below! ⬇️
Cultivate a love for reading in your home. Fill your home with living books that create connection. There’s something powerful about sharing living books with your children—stories that spark imagination, build character, and awaken curiosity about the world. These books go beyond entertainment, becoming companions that shape their minds and hearts.
Whether you’re curled up together on the couch or reading aloud outside under the trees, these stories will create lasting memories.
📚 Comment “BOOKS,” and I’ll send you a link to our free book lists so you can start building your collection!
With simplicity and intention, you can focus on what matters most to your family culture. Here are my top tips for simplifying your homeschool:
🍃Embrace short, focused lessons that minimize distractions and keep your kids curious and engaged.
🍃View curriculum as a menu to pick what excites your learners and is doable for you as the parent.
🍃Celebrate your children’s progress over obsessing over grade levels.
🍃Incorporate family-style learning with living books and notebooking for a simpler, richer experience.
Remember, less is more! What would you add?
We have an understanding in our home that Daddy and Mama aren’t responsible for combating our children’s boredom.
God gave them innate curiosity to discover their world. They are SMART. They are CREATIVE. They are ABLE to fill their free time with good things that grow their minds and imaginations.
While I set up an environment that sparks creativity and offer ideas here and there, I don’t usually have specific activities planned. I’ll step in to get the creative juices flowing, but then I step back and let them take charge of their play or projects.
Is this you too? What creative play or activities are your children engaged in recently? ⬇️ I’ll share mine in the comments!
Comment PLAY and I’ll send you my list of top toys for open-ended play! 🙌🏻
Some fun activities that are filling my children’s time lately:
🌟 Making jewelry and figures out of polymer clay and baking them
🌟 Designing and creating teepees and costumes from felt and sticks
🌟 Hours making sludgy pies and soup in the mud kitchen
🌟 Writing and drawing comic books about all of the stuffed animals in the house
🌟 Building forts and pirate ships from chairs and blankets
What creative ways are your children playing these days?
Remember, prioritizing your health and self-care isn’t just important for you; it benefits your entire family.
When you take time to recharge and nurture yourself, you create a more positive home and learning environment for your kids. Let’s not neglect our own needs or run ourselves into the ground as homeschool moms. Remember this is a journey, not a sprint. Finding these moments throughout our day and modeling self care to our children is essential. It can be as simple as starting a home workout routine, taking a walk in nature, or scheduling a cozy coffee date with a friend. ☕

🍂 Bring Thanksgiving to Life in Your Homeschool! 🍂
Our new holiday study A Treasured Thanksgiving is a hands-on curriculum that brings the history of the 1600s to life by exploring the world of the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people. Engage your family in interactive learning through traditional recipes, crafts, and games that capture the essence of this historical time period. Learn to weave, cook traditional porridge, and create replica homes, fostering a deep understanding of both Pilgrim and Native American life.
Not only will your family delve into history and geography through living books, but you’ll also reflect on the Pilgrim’s faith through daily Bible readings centered on gratitude, thankfulness, and perseverance. Discussion questions and memory verses invite meaningful conversations, helping children connect with the lessons on a spiritual level.
In addition, each week, your children will explore the beauty of art and poetry. Through observation games, copywork, and vocabulary building, this section enhances language skills and encourages a deeper appreciation for the arts.
Bring your Thanksgiving studies to life with a curriculum that integrates history, Bible, and beauty through hands-on connections. A perfect way to enrich your family’s learning experience during this special season!
Comment THANKSGIVING and we will send you a link to grab yours.
In the midst of devastation like Hurricane Helene, we are reminded of the power of community and kindness. When your heart is overwhelmed with all the destruction and pain and the world seems dark- look for the helpers. Remind your children to look for the helpers. BE the helpers. Keep your heart in a place of peace so you aren’t overcome by darkness and can pour out hope and light.
There are so many ways to give and serve the hurricane victims. We can’t do everything, but we can all do something. Here are a few ideas of ways to include your children in helping:
1. GIVE- Give financially to ministries and organizations that are on the front lines. Let your kids be a part of raising money and help them connect with the mission. (bake sale, selling used toys, raking leaves…!) Besides giving money, there are numerous places to donate supplies and food. Take your kids with you to the store to purchase and load, then to drop-off to the locations. Include them in the process.
2. PRAY- Pray as a family for a specific area in crisis. Partner with an organization and be prayer warriors for them specifically as they go on the field. Teach your children to pray.
3. GO- Look for ways to go be the hands and feet of Jesus- loading trucks, sorting food, or if possible, actually going to help clean up hurricane aftermath. If children can’t go, talk to your children about why you’re going and share the process with them. Let them be a part of it by “sending” you with prayers and support.
Drop an organization you recommend supporting or ways that your family is being a helper in the comments.
Over the years, homeschooling has taught me so much about patience, connection, and the beauty of learning together as a family. These are just some of the things I’ve learned along the way that have shaped our homeschool journey, and I hope they resonate with you too.
Each day is filled with moments to bond, teach, and guide our children—not just through books, but in the everyday rhythms of life. From managing the home to exploring the world around us, our children are always watching, learning, and growing.
I hope these reminders help you create an atmosphere of peace, creativity, and growth in your home. 💛

When I showed her the pictures of the absolute destruction on our beloved Florida islands and towns and our family’s frequently visited mountain villages, she wept and felt so helpless. I know we’re all feeling that right now. The only thing we can do in these situations is look to the hills where our Help comes from, look around for the helpers, and do something- using anything we have- to make a difference.
She had the idea to bake pies and sell them to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Helene. It’s lot of work to say “yes” in these moments, but if we don’t empower them, who will?
This is homeschool this week…. Doing the math, buying ingredients, learning how to make and use spreadsheets, SO much baking, sacrificing time and work to love others, and ultimately- connecting with God’s heart for hurting people.
If you’re local to me (Charlotte, NC) and you’d like details to place an order, you can reach out on DM. Otherwise, you can give directly to through to provide food, water, fuel for rescue missions, medical care, and more to the victims of Hurricane Helene.
This beautiful reminder from Elisabeth Elliot speaks to the heart of motherhood and homeschooling. The work we do each day, whether big or small, is a gift and a privilege. It’s an offering we can make to God, done with gladness and faithfulness. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that something greater or more significant lies elsewhere, but right here, in the midst of our daily tasks, is where we are called to serve. Let’s embrace the work in front of us, knowing it’s exactly where we are meant to be. 💛

Which of these is essential in your homeschool space? What would you add?
Even in the middle of the most routine tasks, there’s something sacred happening. The daily, mundane moments are where we connect most deeply with God.
Whether it’s folding laundry, preparing meals, or tending to our children, these simple acts are opportunities for grace and growth. 🌿
Let’s embrace the holiness of the everyday, because it’s in the ordinary that we meet our Maker.
As my family has grown and my children have gotten older, one thing we love adding to our weekly homeschool rhythm is meeting in small groups with friends for learning experiences. For my family, gathering with friends are a refreshing way to infuse life into our homeschool days, and something we look forward to each week. My children love learning together with their friends in settings like book club, chess club, and our local Wild + Free group.
If you are new to homeschooling or are considering adding a small group learning experience to your homeschool days, today’s blog post explains the benefits of homeschooling in small groups and shares ideas for incorporating this into your homeschool.

In the rush of daily homeschool life, it’s easy to focus on academics, but let’s not forget the heart of it all—our connection with our children. When they feel truly seen, valued, and loved, everything else falls into place. Their happiness and sense of security come first, and that connection is what makes learning meaningful and life-giving. 💕
📖 : One of my favorite homeschool reads, The Brave Learner by Julie Bogart
The benefits of reading to children are widespread. Reading great literature aloud invites our children into a world of inspiration and adventure and brings so much joy and connectedness to all who sit together and listen.
As a homeschool mom who thrives in nature and spending time outdoors with my family, these are some of my favorite books to read aloud to children- books that connect us all to the world around us.
I created this book list as a springboard for finding new books that spark the imagination of your family and reinforce the elements you love about being outdoors and in nature.

In a world full of noise, it’s love that truly teaches and shapes hearts. It draws us in with gentleness, guiding without force. Let’s lead our children with love, knowing that it’s the most powerful teacher of all. 🌟
Let enough be enough, Mamas. 💕
With so many amazing options out there on blogs, Pinterest, and Instagram, it can be easy to compare your lessons and curriculum choices to every other homeschool family and feel the need to keep changing and adding more. You can start to worry if what you are doing is enough. You may want to scratch it all and start over. While there is the freedom to evaluate what isn’t working for your child, that’s not what I am referring to. I’m talking about looking around at everything else and having a serious case of FOMO until you jam pack your planner so tight that you choke out peace and joy in your home education.
The longer I have been homeschooling, the more I realize that less truly is more.

I believe in the power of shared experiences and the lasting impact of adventures. Our children may not remember the latest toy or gadget, but they’ll hold onto the memories of the time we spent together exploring, learning, and growing.
As we embrace the freedom of homeschooling in this new school year, let’s prioritize creating those meaningful moments that shape their hearts and minds for years to come. Because in the end, it’s the adventures we take together that truly matter.
Adventures through stories, adventures in nature, adventures to places that make education come alive.
What adventures do you plan on taking this year? We’re making plans to visit the Titanic museum and Museum of the Cherokees next month!
