Freedom Ride Day

Free(dom) Ride Day is the Rideshare Driver National Day of Service organization.

Rideshare Driver National Day of Service

Rideshare Drivers are some of the coolest people on the planet. True patriots with a sincere desire to help people get to and from their destinations safely. For many it was an amazing opportunity in a horrible job market - so we know what its like to feel the pinch. That is why it was so very easy to recruit volunteers for this project. Drivers are immediately down for the cause.

Our goal is to provide older Americans taking public transportation with one free ride to their next destination. That one simple act of kindness can make a very big difference for a human. It could mean the difference between them getting something to eat that day, or not. It could mean the difference in them being able to provide a needed item for a loved one. It could be the act of kindness from a stranger that prevents a su***de. People are going through real struggles with poverty, transportation, mental health, and family constraints. We hope that this simple gesture makes a big impact on the people we service.

The Rideshare Drive National Day of Service is 100% independent and driver’s take on this project 100% on their own time, their own insurance, their own gas, and their own risk. Drivers’ do it because we see Americans hustling everyday. We pick them up from the airport, from work, take them to and from their kids games, to visit loved ones. We pick them up at 4am, we drop them off at dawn. We see the struggles and achievements first hand. So we are happy to serve those that cannot afford to hire a rideshare and rely on the buses and trains of public transportation. We want to provide them with a little bit of comfort in celebration of the man that led a movement to provide just a little bit more comfort and equality for Black Americans and subsequently the rest of America.

We celebrate the legacy of the Reverend, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - the only American to have his birthday become a national holiday - by instead of taking a day off, making it a day on, a day of service to our fellow human beings. Thank you for your support and sharing of this project!
