There is a place, a mile wide, where the entire Zambezi river hurls itself into a deep abyss.

In the day it is a stupendous sight, at night it is sublime.

In this painting, a full moon bathes a cataract of the Victoria Falls in muted tones of grey and blue. Contrasting translucent hues of a lunar rainbow arc across the vastness of the gorge.

To witness this, soaked by shifting curtains of spray, through windows in the cloak of dark rainforest is a primeval experience.

'Mosi Oa Tunya' , is the Lozi/Kololo name for this place. It translates to "The smoke that thunders" and describes so well the almost mystical force and roaring presence of the Falls.

To stand in the darkness, at the edge of this natural phenomenon, one quickly realises that there is a power and romance here that has to be experienced to be understood...
