"Raising children who transform nations"
Sierra Leone / Malawi / Uganda / Dominican Republic / Haiti
Children of the Nations (COTN) was launched in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2012. Since that time, our growing group of supporters have been amazingly faithful in sharing their talents and resources with the children we all serve together. In this way Children of the Nations sees itself less as an "organisation" and more as a "movement of people" with a common passion who deny themselves to care f

Mercy’s Olympic- Level Resilience with COTN’s Support
Growing up in a polygamous family, Mercy faced significant challenges. After her father’s passing, she joined Children of the Nations where she found support and encouragement. Despite several setbacks, she excelled academicall, and achieved top marks in the national Primary Leaving Examination. Her leadership qualities flourished leading to her appointment as Head Girl of COTN Uganda’s secondary school.
Today, Mercy serves as a mentor to COTN students and actively engages in community service. With a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance, she aspires to provide excellent financial services to Ugandan clients in Uganda, guided by her deeply held Christian values.
Mercy’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of holistic care centred around Christ. Over the years, she has faced numerous challenges that could have stifled her dreams but, strengthened by COTN Uganda staff’s unwavering commitment to her success, she has managed to navigate through adversity with grace and tenacity. Her incredible achievements inspire those around her (fellow Ugandans from similarly humble backgrounds) to believe in the possibility of change for themselves—personally, within their families, within their communities, and even at the national level.
Feel inspired? Donate to empower young champions like Mercy.

Urgent request for prayer—
Hurricane Beryl, now a Category 5 storm, is expected to impact multiple countries and islands across the Caribbean Basin, prompting widespread emergency and preventative measures as the 2024 hurricane season intensifies.
Please join us in prayer as the hurricane sweeps across the region, affecting both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Both countries are bracing for heavy rains, strong winds and potential landslides. National authorities have amplified early warning messages.
In Haiti, the hurricane season could further aggravate the already dire living conditions of millions enduring a complex humanitarian crisis marked by violence, displacement, food insecurity and poor access to basic social services. Children are particularly vulnerable in these conditions.
Let's ask God for protection, safety, and provision for all those in the path of Hurricane Beryl in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Pray also for the leadership in both nations as they navigate these challenging times—for wisdom, courage and resilience.
Thank you for persisting in prayer with us.

This week, we're celebrating a student from COTN Malawi called Prince who recently graduated from African Bible College with a first-class degree in Christian Leadership and Business Administration. Prince's story transcends academic achievement, though his has been remarkable. Graduating with distinction, Prince was the salutatorian of his class. His dedication to his studies and his passion for serving others caught the attention of LIVE LOVE Malawi, an organization dedicated to holistic community transformation. Prince is now employed by them to support the wellbeing of villagers in Mphimbi, their new target community. This accomplishment is not Prince's alone; it's a testament to the generosity of all our partners who empower talented students like Prince to reach their fullest potential.

COTN Dominican Republic preschoolers stole the show this week in their adorable formal attire, celebrating their special “graduation” day! The event was filled with lots of wonderful moments, including a beautiful performance by a group of talented tots singing, "When He [the Holy Spirit] touches me I feel my soul rejoices, and I can sense Him, when He touches me, and I can sense Him, when He touches me, because when He touches me my burdens go away…."
Staff are pictured here with the “merit” students.
Congratulations to all the little graduates on this wonderful milestone!

What to pray for this Wednesday?
Let's pray for COTN staff.
In the touching moment pictured, COTN Malawi staff member, Steven Chisale, shared his lunch with a hungry little boy in Chilombo village. The boy, who hadn’t eaten a decent meal in a long time, clung to Steven’s side, refusing to let go. When it was time to head home, the boy’s sister tried to take him away, but he stayed with Steven. Steven assured the sister that he would care for the boy and send him home after lunch.
The staff serving with our ministry partners in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, the Dominican Republic and Haiti are genuine, sincere, and deeply committed to the wellbeing of the children in our programmes and the communities we serve. They work tirelessly in very difficult and desperate situations. It’s such a privilege to witness their compassionate hearts.
Let’s lift them up in prayer today. Pray that their acts of kindness will be a testament to God's love and that they'll continue to provide sustenance to hungry children and comfort to those in desperate situations.
This week, we’re excited to share heartfelt words of gratitude from Magalis in the Dominican Republic. Magalis recently graduated from university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Here’s what she has to say:
“I immensely thank God and the Children of Nations institution for not leaving me alone throughout this journey and for being such great support. I do not have enough words to express my gratitude for everything they have done for me, but God will reward everyone who helped make my dream come true.”
We're thankful for all our partners and supporters who help us ensure that students like Magalis receive an education. The impact of their generosity is massive—life for Magalis will never be the same again.
