I told myself on my last birthday that 27 was going to be the year of getting my mental health in check. I’ve spent the better half of a decade on the internet being someone that I thought people would like. The problem was I became someone that I didn’t like. Going from so much internet success to having everything crashing down on me was brutal on my self esteem and I kept trying to chase that “high” for years. I wanted 27 to be the year of discovering myself and not this internet persona I’ve made up. I stopped streaming completely. I stopped throwing countless pity parties for myself. I enrolled myself back in college and for the first time in my life ended up on the President’s List. Looking back at 27, I’m extremely proud of myself for everything I’ve accomplished. Now it’s time for a new chapter. I want 28 to be the year I start loving myself again. It will be the year I start loving myself.
