The show ring is set and we are about to kick off the swine show followed by the sheep show at the 2024 Oconto County Youth Fair!

Come out all weekend to support our members and all the exhibitors for their hard work they put into their projects! See the photos for the full schedule.

Today is the day to come get your free bag of dairy goodies! We can’t wait to see you this afternoon starting at 4pm!

Remember it is only 1 bags per car while supplies last and distribution will be at the main high school doors.

Tonight we traveled to Lena to help pack the bags for the Neighborhood Dairy Distribution event!

Thanks to all who helped and we can’t wait to see you all tomorrow to get your bag of dairy goodies! (See the last picture for details!)

Final WLC Update!

Scott wrapped up his last few days in DC Friday and Saturday. Friday, Scott traveled to Arlington National Cemetery where they paid their respects to those who gave all for our country. Among their time at Arlington, they watched the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The guards change watch every half hour during the warmer months and protect the tombs of 3 soldiers whose identities are not known and serves as a reminder of all soldiers who are MIA. Scott also visited the USS Maine Memorial at Arlington which is a site to commemorate the unexpected explosion of the vessel which killed 260 sailors on board.

Saturday brought a day of exploration in DC and service to those in the DC area. The day started with a service project where all members at the conference helped pack thousands of meals for those in need with the Meals of Hope organization. After, they had the day to spend on their own exploring DC where Scott went to the botanic gardens as well as the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

We would like to take this time, with the last post on Scott’s WLC experience, to thank those who have supported Scott’s trip to this conference. A special thanks goes out to the Gillett FFA Alumni & Supporters who helped financially support Scott; without you, this experience would not have been possible.

WLC Day 4:

Yesterday, Scott was able to explore more of DC with his fellow WLC participants. He started his day at the Capitol building where he learned more about its history and significances it holds.

Scott was also able to check out the Library of Congress where they were able to do a tour and see some treasured books that help to tell the story of our country’s past.

WLC Days 2 & 3:

Day 2 continued the travels to DC and along the way, Scott was able to visit the Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania where the 4th plane in the 9/11 attack came down through the heroic actions of those on the flight to stop the hijackers. After visiting the memorial, they stopped one last time and had to take a picture with the amazing elephant before making it to the conference center for the week.

Day 3 started the conference where Scott was able to meet those in his group for the week and begin developing his Living to Serve Plan. After the sessions today, all participants got to go on a night tour of the memorials and monuments ending with a reflections session at the USMC Iwo Jima Monument.

Yesterday started Scott’s travels to the Washington Leadership Confernece (WLC) in Washington, DC with other Wisconsin FFA members.

While there, Scott will learn more about taking his leadership skills to the next level and develop a Living to Serve plan. He will also get the opportunity to see all the amazing things in our nation’s capitol has in store!

A few years ago, we played breakfast on the fair video on a large TV in the Expo hall. We are hoping to try something NEW this year. We are inviting ANYONE (exhibitors, farmers, Ag Business, etc) to be creative and submit a video that we will then put together to create an Ag Education movie that we can play throughout the fair.

State Convention Wrap!

Wednesday:
Morning- Business for our delegates Cole and Riley along with some time at the Convention Expo where all members learned about the various opportunities possible in Wisconsin agricultural industry!
Afternoon- Exploring Madison and experiencing State Street and the Capitol building before heading back to the convention for the 5th general session. After the session the members showed off their dance moves in their Tacky Tourist outfits!

Thursday:
We attended the final session of the 95th Wisconsin FFA Convention where we heard Mary Schrieber’s retiring address as State President and watched the 2024-25 Wisconsin FFA Offcier Team get installed!

Now we continue our drive home and reflect on the incredible accomplishments, achievements, and successes of our fellow members and look forward to the opportunities presented to us for our future!

A special thank you to Gillett School District for their continued support of the Agricultural Education Department and Gillett FFA Organization.

An additional HUGE thank you to the Gillett FFA Alumni and Supporters for their generosity and support of these students to attend this life changing convention. They paid a significant portion of this trip for these students and continue to amaze us with their dedication to the students of our district and community. Without them, we would not be able to have the success and opportunities available to us throughout the year!

We look forward to seeing how these members impact our chapter in the year to come!

Day 2 of Wisconsin FFA State Convention!

Highlights include:
-A morning hike at the UW Arboretum
-Attending Opening General Session with special guests Governor Tony Evers and National FFA President, Amara Jackson.
-Exploring the Proficiency Hall to learn more about the students who ranked among the top in the state in their award areas.
-Having dinner sponsored by the Gillett FFA Alumni and Supporters at Texas Roadhouse
-Wrapping up the night with the a Hypnotist Show

Another great day of learning, memories, networking, and growing our community of agriculture!

We made it to Madison for the 95th Wisconsin FFA State Convention!

Today was filled with travel memories and settling in to Madison for the week!
